Instead of asking them come to my location, I dropped off four shopping bags full of documents/biz checks, etc. at their office on Sepulveda near LAX. The charge: $25.00 total. Pro: It was fast and easy. Cons: You have to have a degree of trust of those who work there. Beware the weekend community shredding events. The website isn't clear that it's $25 minimum, for up to 7 boxes of documents. I learned this only after driving over with a shopping bag full of papers - definitely not worth $25 to shred. I offered to pay $5 or $10, and the employee sternly reinforced it was a $25 flat fee. A few kind strangers saw how stupid this policy was, and offered to include my bag of papers with their load of documents being shredded. They were also sternly warned that it was $25 "per person" and that they "cannot shred documents for other people". So I took my bag of papers and went home. It's silly, but I was excited to have a convenient way to shred the pile of junk mail I had accumulated. I was there, the truck was there - shredding my documents would have cost Shred Now a few pennies. This could have been a few dollars in Shred Now's pocket, a happy customer, and a five-star review. Instead it's one star, a big waste of my time, and me and a few other customers shaking our heads about this stupid policy. read more

If you're anything like me, and don't like to shred, therefore ending up with an epic, 20-year accumulation of shreddables taking up an entire refrigerator box in a storage unit you must vacate immediately, then Shred Now could not come more highly recommended. Lydia, who answered the phone, was very friendly and helpful. Their price was $20 lower than the competition, and were able to accommodate us the very same day! The driver, whose name was Moses, showed up right on time and was just terrific. Because it's hard to estimate how many "banker's boxes" worth of documents you need to shred when you are looking at a tower of paper as tall as the 9000 building and almost as wide, here's a tip. One standard recycling bin (like what the city uses)equals 7 boxes, and the $95 fee covers 15 boxes = 2 recycling bins worth. If you have any more than that to shred then you are a hoarder of the first magnitude. You are one sick puppy indeed. Just joking. Lol. read more

I'm reviewing only the community shredding event, which was: easy to do cheap ($25 for close to 100 pounds of paper in my case) fast lets you see your documents being destroyed. I did the one in Culver City that they have monthly (check their website for time and location). You take your papers you want shredded over in your car, and park in the parking lot where they have their shredding truck. You grab one of these rolling bins they bring with them (basically, a full size normal curbside garbage bin with a top, but just for paper), and dump in all the papers you want shredded. You wheel it over to the custom shredding trunk, and they have a device that immediately lifts the bin up into the inner shredding part of the truck. You can then see the documents being shredded and compacted by the machine in the truck through a camera they have on the outside of the truck. It is all automated, so I felt like there was no worry about the security of the documents. I was in and out in under 5 minutes. I should also add - Shred Now had someone there to help you empty your papers in the bin and wheel it over if you want the help. The same guy was also happy to explain what happened to the papers after they were shredded if you are a nerd like me and are interested :) read more

I called to have documents shredded by ShredNow. I will definitely not be using them again!! I told them exactly how many boxes I had to shred. Yet when they came out later than planned to shred they didn't have enough room on the truck to shred everything that day!! I had to waste extra time and money to have my employee open the office the next day to get the rest of the documents shredded! I called the company to express my unhappiness with the service. The lady I talked to was rude, arrogant and overall unpleasant and unprofessional. She sounded like the owner, but claimed she was not. I rarely review on Yelp due to time constraints, but I was HIGHLY satisfied with the service this business provided, so I wanted to give full credit to Moses (Owner) and his team members. I've had confidential documents that built up over the years (three large trashbags full of documents). It was just taking up unnecessary storage space and becoming quite a burden. I tried to get rid of them myself via shredders and thought about burning them but it was just too much work. I was skeptical about giving it to place where they keep it and shred it on a given time since I'm not able to see the documents getting destroyed. They were a bit delayed due to other appointments before me, but it was definitely worht the wait. The woman that handles all of their calls is polite, but horrible at following up with customers. I originally had an appointment for Friday between the hours of 2pm-4pm. I had called the day prior and was incredibly pleased with how quick and easy it was to set up an appointment with them. On the day of, she even called me to remind me of my appointment and the possibility of a slight delay. 2pm rolls around and as pre-warned, I do not hear from them. I did not mind this, but I had several errands to run so I wanted to see if I can possibly get an ETA so that I can work around their schedule. When I called, she mentions that I will have to wait a bit more and that she'll update me. I ran my errands, came back, waited and waited and waited. Still no phone call from her or the driver. Now that time is running past 4, I called again but she had no clear estimation of when they will come and told me she will call me back. She FINALLY calls me back saying that they're still at the previous job location causing the delay. Having to run to another appointment, I asked to re-schedule on Monday. I was grateful that she was understanding and she told us that I would be the first appointment scheduled during the 10am-12pm slot on Monday. Now here comes Monday. Surprise, surprise. They are not here at 10am. I call to make sure that I was scheduled for today, which I was told that I am. She said she was unable to get a hold of the driver and that she would call me back (again) when she got a hold of him. It is now close to 12pm and I'm still waiting. I keep pushing back my lunch plans to work around this damn shredding job. At this point, my boss is extremely irritated and his irritation eventually latches onto me as well. I called her again and she tells me that the driver hasn't been picking up any of her phone calls since the morning and that he didn't show up at the job site prior to my appointment as well. I understood why she was worried for the driver and gave them the benefit of the doubt again, but I needed to get this damn shredding job done asap so I wasn't going to wait around for them anymore. I looked around several other shredding services and asked for quotes. Before I cancelled, I wanted to see if I could speak with her one more time to see if we could work something out but I kept getting a busy signal (this is something that happened quite frequently during the many times I called her). Extremely pushed beyond my level, I made an appointment with another shredding service later that same day (side note: I got a call 10 minutes later saying that the driver was already on its way, ha!). I called immediately after making the appointment to cancel to be considerate, but all I got was the busy signal. After multiple tries, I finally got through. After confirming my cancellation, she had the nerve to tell me that she finally got a hold of their driver and that his phone was broken. Oh, so you got a hold of him and didn't bother to let me know until I called? You couldn't stop to tell me that before accepting my cancellation? You couldn't even bother to sound apologetic when I cancelled? GREAT! And a big thank you for letting me know how irresponsible your driver is! His broken phone might explain why he might not have responded to your phone calls, but it sure does not explain why he had to miss his job appointments over it. Ridiculous! read more

I'm pretty irritated at the moment. I had 2 large bags of documents (work and personal) that I needed to shred. Found this place on yelp based on the good reviews and drove the 15 minutes to their site in Westchester, which according to their website is open from 9am-5pm. I parked in a lot about a block away and carried my 2 heavy ass bags for a block and then in the elevator up to the 3rd floor. When I get to their suite, there is no name on the door and it is locked. Every other office in the building had their name on the door. So, by all appearances I am thinking the location has closed or they have gone out of business. I call the number on their website to check and get no response. Wait a few more minutes. Carry my heavy ass bags back to the car. A few more minutes pass and I get a call from a girl who sounded very sweet and says she works there, and they are open she had just stepped out. At this point I am already in my car, am grumpy, have lost faith in this business, and have no desire to carry those bags back. So all said and done I will have wasted almost an hour of my time and accomplished nothing. They need to put a sign with their name on the door, like every other business in the building so it doesn't appear to be a vacant office. Also, if there is only one person working during posted business hours and that person needs to step out to use the restroom or whatever, they should put a sign on the door indicating they have stepped out and will be returning. read more

I went to the community shredding event in Culver City. They helped me unload my boxes and take them to the truck. You then can watch on a video screen as your info is being shredded. It's a seamless and secure process. Important Note: Their truck is parked on the WEST end of the NORTH parking lot of the Veterans' building (near the park). I had 5 large boxes of shredding that had collected over the years and decided I was too lazy to take them to Staples (where they store them until they shred them) or to a reasonably priced shred event held around town. After reading the reviews on Yelp I called two places, one was Shred Now. The woman I spoke with on the phone was a pleasure to deal with; we booked a time a few days later for the truck to come to my house. Moses showed up promptly, with a big smile, and I got to watch all my trash get chewed up by the truck via the video monitor he has on his vehicle. Quick, easy and well worth the $95 they charge (for which he would've shredded 15 boxes I think). He even took my credit card with his traveling cc swiper. The other vendor faxed me a 4 page document with lists and a two page contract to sign. This was after I was transferred to four different people before I could get the person for my area. Seriously? If i'm going to pay 4x as much for home shredding, I'm going to Shred Now! If I ever get that much paper build up again, I'm going to call Moses.
