A friend suggested this place cause of her experience with the shredding. I parked in front of the store, went in, asked the staff about price and how they measure etc. Requested to use their dolly, brought it out to my car. Loaded the dolly with 4+ banker boxes of material to shred. And bingo! From start to finish, the whole process was 9mins long!!!!!!! All secure documents shredded right in front of you as you stand and watch. Unlike other places where you have to drop things into a big, blue bin! I've attached photos. Each banker box cost me $20. I got everything done for $65! The staff are kind, they clarify questions (I had a few about cds and photos), they are efficient! I wanted my docs shredded. I got what I wanted! Must go!! read more

Super easy and convenient place to complete your shredding. I love that they do it right in front of you as well. They're also fairly priced for the service. Just keep in mind the parking lot is tiny, so if you have a lot to bring in, you might need to wait for a spot. Otherwise, you can park on the street and walk too. read more

Friendly staff, easy process, and well priced. Hours are limited, so check that they're open beforehand.

Nice staff, easy parking, quick and efficient. But I feel I got overcharged a bit, and I wish the way they calculate the charge is more transparent when I bring in different size boxes and a few bags. Still, I'll go back if I need shredding in San Mateo read more

Order: * One almost full banker box Pros: * Bias pro, but this location is super convenient for me. Also, there tends to always be street parking in front when I drive by. * Operation inside was clean, orderly and fast. The two young guys were polite and helped me right away. * Shredder is right in front of you so you can watch it all get shredded. Cons: * The standard price is not the cheapest in the Bay, but the guys that helped me were very fair. Comments: * No issues at all with my visit. read more

these guys are fantastic. I love them. They're quick they're reasonable great business.

Great experience bringing our hard drives. We don't own a drill, because we live in an apartment. So this was the best option. It was pricy, but kind of cool to watch them destroy this device. Located next door is a yummy Argentinian bakery. Get a treat after your chores. read more

Very friendly and efficient service . Price very reasonable. Highly recommend this business.

This is a surprisingly useful service! I cleared out a few boxes of old docs and needed to ensure they were shredded. Shred Center is in an easy-to-get-to storefront on El Camino with lots of parking right at the door. It's basically two young guys in an empty room with an industrial shredder. For $9 I had twenty years of old tax returns and other docs shredded in under a minute. Super easy and useful! read more

Quick, easy, the shredders were pleasant every time we have been here. Very convenient.

Quick and priced reasonable. They shred right in front of you so you can be sure it'll be done right.

I was dreading the task of hauling my docs to the shredder - however - I popped over today and was pleasantly surprised by the ease and the staff was super kind, helpful, generous, and funny. And you get to watch it all shred right before your eyes - satisfying after years of home shredding. Perfect way to start Spring Cleaning. read more

See all

After my dad passed we'd had most of the documents cleared out by the awesome hazmat guys - except for a few boxes of stuff that looked important and like I should go through it at some point. Enter in some point. After going through all of them and now having basically a huge tub of documents I really ought to have shredded I searched on Yelp for a well rated shred company. Hello Shred Center. While they currently have construction going on and if you haven't visited before it's very hard to navigate how to get inside, once inside they quickly tallied the size of my tub and charged me for the shred - $30, which I personally thought was very reasonable. The visit took probably 5 minutes and they stopped processing the bankers boxes they had been shredding so they could shred our documents in front of us. The associates were polite, kind, and overall our experience was wonderful. I will definitely visit this location for shredding again! read more

Imagine having a box filled with paper, your personal shredder poops out, the new one does too, or you have too much dang paper to get rid of, where do you go? Well let me tell you, you go to this place! I have been coming here now for years since it first opened! And everyone working here including the owner are great people, welcoming and kind. At first when I heard the name I was like ah what? As long as I am not shredded too" Although from the looks of my body now, I think I need to lose a few pounds and get shredded-Lol, of course, we are talking paper. Being in the south peninsula, this really is my best bet. Going into the S Bay and San Jose is way too far. This is just like 17 miles up the road and "done". They are reasonable in price, and they shred while you are there in front of them. So I cannot say enough about this place. Get shredded with the Shred Center! read more

I can't begin to tell you what a great business Shred Center is. Let me try to count the ways... The two guys there, Carlo & Domenic are super helpful in every way. Their pricing is better than any other shred service around, especially UPS. They even help you carry your load into the store. They are very professional & have such a great attitude, the like of which I've yet to find in other business's. Whatever your shredding needs are, Shred Center in San Mateo is the place to get it done. Bravo to these two young men!!!! Robert read more

Friendly, helpful, and efficient service! I had been putting off disposing my boxes and bins of old documents for years. I try to shred my sensitive docs on my own personal machine now, but couldn't make a dent on the boxes that had grown in my storage area and closets (a total of packed 14 bankers boxes!). Now that I will be selling my home, I had to end my procrastination, especially since I am definitely not going to pack up and bring them to my next home. I found the Shred Center on Yelp, called ahead (no appointment necessary at the time), and voila: All 14 boxes of old docs were shredded before my eyes during my visit! TIP: If you have multiple boxes as I did, grab one of their dollies near the entrance, load your boxes onto the dolly, and wheel the loaded dolly into the front area guided by one of their staff, and they will take care of the rest. Proceed to the check-out area and pay by the size of your container and/or fill line. Note: You can bring your docs in plastic bins, but you will not be allowed to leave them (only cardboard boxes may be left, and will be recycled). read more

Great service. I brought in a couple of garbage bags of old financial records that had bank account numbers and social security numbers.
