Good signage on the premises, clear expectations of costs to recycle, and Chanel was very helpful! I recognize that recycling responsibly incurs processing and transpiration costs. I am happy to do my part in recycling responsibly. I would recommend getting rid of any unnecessary parts when you bring the recyclable items (e.g., boxes, packaging) that are regular trash because everything is measured by weight. I was able to recycle a bunch of random electronics that can't be reused. I will be back with my laptops and CDs/VHS next! My go-to place for responsible electronics and styrofoam recycling. They used to have small store branches around the Bay Area, but many years ago had to consolidate to keep running, so now it's just the main site south of SF Intl Airport. Their people are friendly and professional, it's a simple drive-up and drop off, and there's no worry that your used electronics will end up in a burn pit in Asia. Spectacularly easy! We were cleaning out the garage and old office stuff and had 5 laptops, 1 desktop, and 3 disk arrays that we needed recycled AND date wiped/secured. [Note: the trash haulers I talked to that take everything, including electronics would have been happy to remove the PCs and disks BUT they do not wipe the drives.] I phoned GreenCitizen and asked if I needed to do any special preparation of the equipment. I was told to just come on down. I did. I parked and was immediately met by the woman I'd talked to on the phone. (She has a slightly non-standard name which I didn't catch when we talked and I don't see it on the receipts, but she is praiseworthy!) She helped me unload my trunk, prepared an estimate, and completed the transaction in about 5 minutes. Very low key. Very professional. Thank you! read more

TV's and monitors are free to recycle and $1/lb for other things like printers, cords and other electronics is a great price.. I've only come to this place so not sure of any place cheaper. It was really easy to just call up Junk King set an appointment and get my old stuff hauled away but even better, I found out that they have a standard minimum on how much they have to recycle and reuse. It makes me feel good that my junk is actually going to a good place. It's money that I would absolutely pay for instead of letting it just go to waste management to dump in landfill. I absolutely hate seeing things go trashed but with Junk King, I feel much better about where my stuff is going. read more

My business recently moved offices, and I had to dispose of a bunch of old laptops and various hard drives. These guys removed and destroyed all the drives while I watched, and it was a quick and easy process. They have a "disk destroyer" that crushes traditional drives, and a drill press to destroy SSD memory chips. Highly recommended! read more

I've dropped off old electronics and cords for free many times here. I've watched them physically destroy a hard drive with sensitive information for me too. No need to wait for a special Earth Day event to recycle! Super easy drive through process. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. They even take dense white EPS (styrofoam) #6 which is recyclable, but you cannot recycle curbside. Highly recommend for ease, and saving the environment. read more

Over the years, I've taken several items to GreenCitizen, and I really appreciate their dedication to reusing or recycling as much as possible. My most recent drop off included a scanner, DVD/BluRay burner, and a 3TB Seagate drive. All still worked perfectly, but I no longer needed them. The $1 per pound fee was well worth knowing these items might be reused or would, at least, be recycled. It's very helpful that the Green Citizen website clearly lists the types of items they do and do not accept and how much, if anything, they charge. Some things are free; some things a $1 per pound. The staff is fast, friendly, and always helpful. When I arrived, Shanell came out and helped unload, weighed the items, and processed the payment. I don't think it took more than 10-minutes. read more

Such a great experience here, easy to find on Google maps and parking was available. The person who was working there, Maxim (guessed on the spelling), was so very kind, friendly, and helpful! I had multiple laptops and cell phones that I had been meaning to recycle responsibly for many years, and I finally found this place after looking through the Recology website for what to do with electronic waste. The website for this place is easy to navigate and the form to fill out is quick and simple. They take laptops and cell phones at no charge. If you have cords and other acceptable electronics, they charge by the pound. I had a bunch of cords of those laptops and other miscellaneous cords, and I paid only a total of $4. They are the friendliest humans and they show great appreciation to all of their customers who come to recycle responsibly. I highly recommend this place and it is definitely my go-to place now for the electronic waste recycling! :) read more

When I arrived, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, doing a great job of explaining what they can accept for recycling. The lovely lady rolled out a dolly so that I can easily unload the electronics from my car.
