Another great experience at this location with extremely friendly and helpful staff that always has a smile on their face. It was lunch trip so we got takeout for the chicken gryo platter and roll and the salad with hummus. The food was as always super on point and delicious. Fish was bland and didn't really taste like anything. I forgot it came with hush puppies. When I tried to bite into it, I almost broke my front teeth. They were way way way overcooked. I decided to give this place another go, mainly because of the popularity of two sandwiches - Fried Chicken and their "World Famous" Fish Sandwich. Now heading in, I'm more than a little skeptical - when any restaurant that few have heard of, and even fewer have eaten at, dubs something as "World famous" it is almost always, NOT! But I plowed on, I've been wrong more than a few times, want to see how this plays out. The fish sandwich was actually excellent - nicely battered, fried very well, in a very nice bun, with excellent tartar sauce on both sides of that bun. All in all this is one of the very best fish sandwiches I've tasted - up there with Captain's Catch and Pantry Fried Chicken in Greensboro. The chicken sandwich was not one I cared for. Instead of a filet, chicken tenders were used. And while it was well sized, the sandwich was rather hard to keep together. Stopped in at Showmars recently after visiting some family down the road and was pleasantly surprised! The service was quick and super nice! I opted for the special at the time, the Pepper Jam Pita Burger, and a side of tots. The burger was very tasty and full of flavor. The combination of the pepper jam with burger was next level good. We were looking for someplace to grab something to eat while in the area and pulled into the shopping area that has Showmars as well as other restaurants and businesses. We talked briefly about Showmars and decided to check it out. Their signage states they feature "Southern, Fresh, and Greek" which sounded intriguing but we weren't exactly sure what to expect. Upon waking in we learned customers order at the counter and we noticed an area near the counter for mobile or to go orders. We were greeted by the young ladies behind the counter and they seemed friendly and eager to help. We took a couple of minutes to look over the menu on the wall and my wife decided on the Chicken Santorini which features grilled chicken, onions and peppers served on rice, with pita bread, a side salad and tzatziki. I chose the bacon cheese pita burger with the crinkle fries and a soda. There were only a few tables seated but there was a consistent flow of customers along with people picking up to go orders. While the concept is similar to a fast food restaurant, this location feels very clean, well taken care of and comfortable. My wife used the restroom and reported it was equally as clean. Our food arrived and looked yummy. I wasn't sure what to expect with a burger pita but I enjoyed it. The crinkle fries were just okay and my wife enjoyed her meal as well. I had wished my diet soda didn't have so much ice in it but one of the young ladies offered a refill so that made me feel better about it. I've been to this location three times this week alone. So, suffice it to say they are pretty solid. I grew up eating at Showmars in Charlotte and know it will always be a good experience. I come to Winston-Salem for work weekly and always look for something moderately healthy, delicious and affordable for dinner. Since it's summertime, I've been enjoying salads for dinner. The staff at this location is top-notch. They are always personable and helpful, and they give great suggestions. The food here is always fresh, and the service is friendly and prompt. Solid attention to detail, the restaurant is always clean, the food is always fresh and served with all appropriate condiments, and the orders are always accurate. Today, I got the shrimp and fish platter, and every component was fresh, perfectly prepared and served at the right temperature. I was most pleasantly surprised by the tartar sauce. This is by far the best tartar sauce I've ever had. I usually avoid it because it's typically packaged and processed. Still, given the quality of the other sauces, I decided to try this one, and I was indeed taken aback. Highly recommend this location. read more

I haven't been to Showmars in years because the closest one was in Charlotte. I arrived around 11:30am. There were one or two other customers. Ordered my food and took a seat. My first observation was that the place was SPOTLESS!! Super clean and inviting!! The cashier was friendly and patient as I decided what to order. While eating the owner/manager (not sure who he was and didn't get a chance to ask) was super friendly. He made at least 5 rounds while O was there asking everyone if they were ok and if they needed anything. I took my laptop inside to do some work and he got me a drink refill and a box for my leftovers. Another staff member picked up my trash!! The food was pretty good. The fish could use a tad more seasoning, but I gave it 5 stars because of the authentic and excellent customer service that you rarely see these days!!! I HIGHLY recommend you stop by! read more

I went to Showmars on a Saturday afternoon while doing errands because of the great reviews here. It was easy to find and clean inside with counter service. I ordered the fish sandwich ($6.99) and fries, both came to just over $10.00. During my meal several people asked how I was doing so they seem to make sure you're doing okay. The meal came quickly and the fish sandwich had a piece of freshly fried fish that overlapped on both sides of the bun. It was hot and fresh and I enjoyed it and the crinkle fries very much. Upon entering I reviewed the menu, sooo many options. I went with the fish sandwich and it was not a mistake. Lightly breaded and golden brown with tarter on both sides. Normally I struggle with ordering sandwiches due to so many different buns out there. I can tell you, Showmars has found the perfect bun, it complemented this delicious fish. I'll stop rambling on about the amazing food and move over to customer service. This is the 1st place I have experienced that will beat out a well know chicken restaurant. From ordering to out the door, it was top notch. During our meal, we were checked on 5 different times and drinks were refilled promptly. It's not always the food, a great experience makes the meal. Exceeded Expectations are the two words that would sum up my visit to this new restaurant on Stratford road. When you encounter it, and the general vibe of this shopping center, you are kind of expecting something cookie cutter, as all the shops in it are, in fact, chains. Showmars is also a chain, but a very small one, that originated in Charlotte (and are a common find there). This Winston location appears to be their first step outside our neighbors to the south, and the execution here is great! Foods on offer are crowd pleasers and well priced. There is a focus on greek cuisine, with most sandwiches or burgers also available on pita. There are also salads, and a really good selection of "calabash style" seafood. The aroma of that fish and shrimp hit me when I walked in, so that is what I went with. Got to pick two sides, so I chose the salt and pepper tots and the pasta salad. There were also a few hushpuppies added. Several people I was with also opted for fish, and none were disappointed. These are by no means pressed and formed patties, they are clearly hand breaded filets. I went with just shrimp, and with the calabash style label, got what I was expecting. A large plate of popcorn shrimp. Batter was nice and light, very light seasoning, which is fine as I'm dipping them in cocktail sauce anyway. Pasta salad was a vinegar base, maybe mixed with a little greek yogurt. It was tasty, though I did not finish it, as my meal was filling. The tater tots did have just the slightest hint of pepper, but more importantly were golden and crispy. The hush puppies, slight sweetness, good texture, above board. After you order at the counter and take your number, you have "gophers" (but not like Caddyshack, which would be awesome) running around asking if people need anything or drink refills. So it is a hybrid environment, which I think is where most restaurants are heading. Should also mention lots of outdoor seating for nice days, and a mostly comfortable interior. The one exception... they make use of these trendy but god awfully designed metal chairs. I hate these things. They should be outlawed. They are specifically designed to make you uncomfortable so you leave faster. For those that can tolerate them... who hurt you? For everyone else, there is plenty of booth cushioned seating. Metal chairs aside, I will definitely return to this place and try more items! read more

Glad Showmars came to Winston! This is a good place to grab some great food, quick. It is always clean inside and the staff is always very friendly from the time you order and then walking around checking on your periodically during your visit to keep your drinks full. Menu is a bit different because it offers multiple type of items, from burgers, fish & chicken sandwiches to Gyros and Greek. The girl at the counter was not to helpful when I asked what sides they had to go with the meal so I just said fries because everyone has those. The dining room has a good size seating area. The place was empty when I went. I got the Fish Sandwich, it was Meh.....no taste except for the tarter sauce, I could have used some hot sauce. I was not impressed. The chicken sandwich was a bit better as it had some flavor on the coating and was tender. Only problem is that it falls apart because it's 3 pieces of chicken tenders with pickles am d Mayo.
