World Famous Fish Sandwich
Fred B.

I decided to give this place another go, mainly because of the popularity of two sandwiches - Fried Chicken and their "World Famous" Fish Sandwich. Now heading in, I'm more than a little skeptical - when any restaurant that few have heard of, and even fewer have eaten at, dubs something as "World famous" it is almost always, NOT! But I plowed on, I've been wrong more than a few times, want to see how this plays out. The fish sandwich was actually excellent - nicely battered, fried very well, in a very nice bun, with excellent tartar sauce on both sides of that bun. All in all this is one of the very best fish sandwiches I've tasted - up there with Captain's Catch and Pantry Fried Chicken in Greensboro. The chicken sandwich was not one I cared for. Instead of a filet, chicken tenders were used. And while it was well sized, the sandwich was rather hard to keep together. I don't care for tenders so this sandwich is not for me, but many seem to care for it!

Why don't we come here more? I'm a fan of quality quick service restaurants and they do it well! I ordered the Greek salad with chicken, and ordered the kids Mac and cheese with fries. It arrived quickly and was all fresh and delicious. We were there at lunch time and they were definitely busy but turning over tables quickly!

Great food, excellent service, nice atmosphere. All American burger on a pita w/fries and a chicken sandwich with tots! That is all I'm saying until further notice.

We still enjoy the fried flounder here. It's always served hot. The sides they offer are fresh as well. You can get a small garden salad as a side which we appreciate. The service is always friendly and the dining room is nice and bright. Lots of windows.

Pepper Jam Pita Burger

Stopped in at Showmars recently after visiting some family down the road and was pleasantly surprised! The service was quick and super nice! I opted for the special at the time, the Pepper Jam Pita Burger, and a side of tots. The burger was very tasty and full of flavor. The combination of the pepper jam with burger was next level good. I do feel that the burger itself was a little too greasy but dabbed with a napkin and it was good to go! The tots were amazing! Fried to perfection and perfectly seasoned. We will definitely be back soon to try some of the other menu items!!

Out the door with full bellies for two people for $25. Ordered a veggie pita (no cheese, sub hummus so cost me $.99 extra), fried chicken sandwich, tots, and hummus/pita side. No drinks. Food was good, but not great. I'd pick Cava down the street but it was a solid A- for me. What would've made it better: - More pita with our hummus (tasty) - falafel for the veggie pita; not on the menu - More topping options for the chicken sandwich (was basic). Overall nothing was bad, but I would make some changes. Service was excellent and the place was spacious with great outdoor shaded seating.

Showmars is one of my favorite casual spots! It's Greek with a twist. We typically head there once a week for a quick lunch or dinner after work and it never disappoints. Their cheeseburger pita and chicken souvlaki plate are two favorites. The portions are large and everything is made fresh to order so it's steps above fast food without the crazy price points of a dine in restaurant

We were looking for someplace to grab something to eat while in the area and pulled into the shopping area that has Showmars as well as other restaurants and businesses. We talked briefly about Showmars and decided to check it out. Their signage states they feature "Southern, Fresh, and Greek" which sounded intriguing but we weren't exactly sure what to expect. Upon waking in we learned customers order at the counter and we noticed an area near the counter for mobile or to go orders. We were greeted by the young ladies behind the counter and they seemed friendly and eager to help. We took a couple of minutes to look over the menu on the wall and my wife decided on the Chicken Santorini which features grilled chicken, onions and peppers served on rice, with pita bread, a side salad and tzatziki. I chose the bacon cheese pita burger with the crinkle fries and a soda. There were only a few tables seated but there was a consistent flow of customers along with people picking up to go orders. While the concept is similar to a fast food restaurant, this location feels very clean, well taken care of and comfortable. My wife used the restroom and reported it was equally as clean. Our food arrived and looked yummy. I wasn't sure what to expect with a burger pita but I enjoyed it. The crinkle fries were just okay and my wife enjoyed her meal as well. I had wished my diet soda didn't have so much ice in it but one of the young ladies offered a refill so that made me feel better about it. Overall it was a good experience and we also noticed they have a nice outdoor space which would be nice in warmer months.

Food is always hot and fresh! The service is quick never a long wait. Family friendly restaurant with easy take out service and curbside pick option with the mobile app. Flounder platter comes with Cole Slaw, hush puppies and a second side of choice. Parking and access is a breeze.

Mini meal - popcorn shrimp and tater tots
Danielle H.

I recently had dinner with my family here and loved it! The restaurant was nice and clean. The staff were friendly and checked on us after we received our food. I ordered the popcorn shrimp mini meal with tater tots and a side of pasta salad. The shrimp and tots were hot and crispy and both had a nice flavor. Even though it was a mini meal, it was a pretty good size and filling. The pasta salad was good as well. I liked the Greek flavors and the dressing had a nice creamy texture I liked.

I'm so glad they reopened after that fire and are now open on Sundays. You can't deny that fish sandwich. That's all I order from Showmars.

The fried flounder is great. The slaw is OK. The shrimp is just OK. Way too pricey for what you get.

I ordered food all three times and each time the taste seemed to have improved. The first time I got the Caprese and it was very dry. It literally had three ingredients in it, I think the cheese just was too cold and didn't do it for me while on the contrary, the sourdough bread was very burnt and the entire sandwich was just very dry and disappointing. If you want a good safe option, the short rib melt Is really good. The drinks at the bar are also really good. I will also note the ambiance is amazing, I love the way they decorated everything and I feel like it's really fitting for such a historical place, everything seemed very niche and clean which I admired. I will say the service from Lauren Stone was amazing. She was great, she was very kind and held conversation with myself and my boyfriend and recommended and made some really good drinks. The service is really what tops the overall experience. If someone is very genuine and upfront, there's not much that they can't come back from. There's lots of redeeming qualities in a restaurant through people that have humility and really seem to care in my book so I will say this place is honestly a must try.

The vibe inside is cozy and stylish, with different little nooks and corners that make the place feel unique. The large outdoor patio is just as inviting, especially on a beautiful day like today. We didn't try the food this time, but the sandwiches, soups, and salads coming out around us looked fantastic, and people had great things to say about them. Looking forward to trying some food next time. All around, this is a great place to relax with friends or family while enjoying the Village.

The ambience is clean, cozy and dimly lit. We were one of about 7 to 8 tables present in a restaurant, with only one server working. Even then, we were promptly serviced, and didn't have to wait a long time at all for our food Altogether, we ended up ordering one order of shrimp egg rolls, one order of veggie egg rolls, one order of shrimp summer rolls, two beef and meatball pho, one combination pho, and one chicken pho. Everything was brought out piping hot, and of course, the pho herbs, condiments, and veggies were super fresh and served in abundance The eggrolls all came out hot and fresh. The wrappers were perfectly crispy on the outside, and the filling was fresh on the inside. I did not taste the summer rolls, but everyone said they were excellent. I personally had the combination pho and wish it had a little bit more meat. I would say the amount was less than at other Vietnamese restaurants, but overall it was still really delicious and filling. The noodles were perfectly cooked, and the broth was perfectly seasoned. The total for the table was only $75, which I felt was reasonable for four people and the amount of food we received. Overall, a solid Vietnamese restaurant in Winston. I look forward to returning in the future.

I really wish Winston Salem had a great Banh Mi available. There are some good Pho restaurants but…read morethey don't serve Banh Mi usually and when they do it's not quite the authentic version I'm looking for. I had the Banh Mi at What Da Pho in the past and remember it was good so that's what I ordered this time. Additionally we ordered crab wontons and summer rolls. The restaurant is a little hidden but if you park in the parking structure adjacent to the restaurant it's super easy to get inside. First impressions are it's quiet- no music in the dining room, and the decor is sort of an afterthought with scotch tape holding LED lights to the walls and some Asian inspired pictures but not very well thought out. It's Ok, I'm not coming for the decor. The service is a little lacking. They are giving the bare minimum here so don't expect your server to be too friendly. The crab wontons and summer rolls arrived quickly. The crab wontons were super hot and crispy right from the deep fryer. They were filled with a delicious imitation crab and cream cheese mixture and when dipped in the sweet chili sauce they were exactly the thing I was craving. The summer rolls were equally as fresh and delicious. The filling of cold rice noodles, crisp lettuce and shrimp then dipped in the accompanying peanut sauce was just as delicious. We ordered one pork and one beef Banh Mi. The first thing I noticed was how plentiful the meat was in each one. Usually it's a light sandwich but these were very hefty in comparison to others I've had. My meat was very savory and had a very tender texture, almost like pot roast. It was also the juiciest pork I've ever had in a Banh mi. The picked vegetables were also really good but both our sandwiches were missing the jalapeno I've come to expect. My husband really enjoyed his beef one as well but we both noticed how the bread lacked that crusty flaky quality that Vietnamese baguettes normally have. This was more of a sub roll with a chewy texture and softer crust. The flavors were great, I just missed the textures I have come to expect in an authentic Banh mi. Our spot in Greensboro will still be my favorite but when I don't want to trek out that far, I can get my fix at What Da Pho.
