If you have visited Showcase Comics Bryn Mawr shop, this location is very similar. The Swarthmore location is a large shop that shares the same complex with several businesses, but unlike the Bryn Mawr location, has plenty of parking. Good new pull and longbox selection, with some interesting cheap bins in the mix. Shop also has a large graphic novel selection. Board game selection was fair with a seemly large selection of miniatures also available. Collectibles again are not a major part of this shop as they don't have a wide selection. One difference is that Swarthmore has a larger amount of gaming tables, with several located in a back section. Overall, this is another solid, clean comic book shop from Showcase Comics worth a visit. read more

My daughter took me here as a surprise for my birthday and I couldn't have been happier! Great shop with excellent service and a big selection of comic book issues, graphic novels, manga, games, and cards. Not gonna lie, I don't know what the negative reviewers were doing but I've been a customer here first when they were in Granite Run Mall, and then again more than 10 years later in Swarthmore, and my experiences were great across the board. Mike is awesome, and loves to talk about everything from fantasy novels to warhammer 40k. I was thrilled when I moved back to the area and saw that Showcase was still around and in an even better location than the mall. My only wish is that they'd stock some Vallejo paints. I moved to the area nearby Swarthmore Comics about two years ago and it's the only comic shop in the area I've found with a good selection but unfortunately everyone who works there has been very rude, inhospitable, unwelcoming, angry and makes me feel like I should go spend my money where the customer isn't looked at with scorn and disgust. Anytime I'm ready to pay for my comics I have to wait for them to stop watching tv so they can huff over and quickly ring me up so then can get back to their show or lengthy conversations with friends by the register. If you don't mind atrocious customer service on a consistent basis then Showcase is the place for you. read more

I feel I'm lucky. When I walk into this store the clerks are nice and the selection is great. However I probably should avoid going in there earlier in the day. That must be the owner. I see bad reviews he's rude. Here's what I got. I called twice asking for 2 comics. I asked if he had Lenore. He immediately said angrily "No we do not". I arrive the next week and there's Lenore on the shelf. I bought SLAM! issue one on the shelf . The next week I call and ask if they have SLAM! to test him. He said "No we do not!" Then I said, but I got it there before. He said "We sold out" and hung up on me. Fire that prick! read more

the owner is very very rude and yells at unvaccinated people to wear a mask. I like to go after 5:00 because that is when the rude owner leaves. the rest of the staff is kind. the selection is decent if you are a Pokémon player the selection is low. but if you collect you gi oh cards you are out of luck they don't carry them. the owner yellled at me because I was going to buy a figure and he rudely yellled NO!he said you have to buy more. if you want good customer service go to a different store! read more

The place has a great selection and a great space but Oh my God, The owner could not be any ruder. He throws your items around, rolls his eyes at questions and acts like you're truly disturbing him by just being in the store. Almost walked out recently just for how rude he was ringing me up. Hands down the best selection of all types of comics in the tri-state area!!!! This isn't just a D.C./Marvel store. They have biographies, indie, and EVERYTHING ELSE! Very knowledgeable employees! I can't see how anyone would not instantly love this store. Their selection is the best I have found in all of the greater Philadelphia area and one of the best I have been to on the east coast. They offer daily discounts on GW stuff which is simply unheard of. Huge gaming area with tons of store made terrain that you are welcome to use. They have an impressive selection of comic books, including back issues and silver age. They carry and assortment of lines including Flames of War, Infinity, Privateer Press, and a huge wall of GW. Impressive display cases are all around the store to inspire you. The staff was courtesy and helpful. I missed the winter auction but that's an event you will definitely find me at the next one read more

The comic book selection is great, but the staff is terrible. I bought 3 books ($11) and closed out, then my youngest (who is three) came up with an Incredibles book she wanted (I tried to talk her out of it, then realized it was $4, enough to justify another transaction after asking if there was a min) and there was an audible sigh and obvious annoyance from the clerk. I am bummed to write this review because my son is really getting into comics now, and I really liked the place on McDade as a kid - I wanted this to be our weekly thing, but the staff is unbearable. read more

One of the best comic book stores I've ever been to. Mike and the guys are very knowledgable and will go out of their way to help you find what you want. They run gaming days, demos and painting classes for figure modeling In the store. You can also play there or free play and during league days. They'll even sell old figures for you on auction days too. Been going there for years and I've never been given a bad recommendation on a comic book, game or figure. read more

Young children are definitely not welcome. I entered with a three-year-old and eight-year-old, admittedly pushing the three-year-old's bedtime. We looked around the store and I purchased a book for my eight-year-old. I had a brief conversation with one of the workers, who seemed nice enough. Then i started shepherding my kids so we could wend our way out the door. My three-year-old protested, because he loved it in there. He was loudly whining and arguing at the front of the store for a minute. However, we soon went straight to the door. As I had already pushed open the door to leave, the store clerk chased after me and said forcefully, "You need to leave!" As I looked at him in disbelief, he added "Now!" I was shocked, and he had failed to grasp that I was already leaving. I've never seen a store treat a paying customer that way, particularly one who is trying to get their child out the door so as not to be a disturbance. It's strange enough that children are not welcome at a comics and games store. Maybe the store should consider not allowing children, say under 10 years old, in during live board games if a bit of noise is truly so crippling. I was just shocked at being treated so rudely. read more
