If there were an option to rate an establishment on a MINUS scale, I most certainly would do so in the case of The Shot Cafe. Don't go near this place unless you are prepared to be to overcharged and underserved, to an unheard of degree. Add to that problem a less than accommodating staff, and the choice is obvious: head for one of the other nearby pleasant, and more fairpriced cafes. Shots is a great place, with basic decor and a relaxed, unpretentious, friendly vibe. The food is consistently well prepared and creative. I love the paninis, and the baked-by-owners goods are amazing. It's a perfect place to meet someone for lunch -- with or without wine -- never very loud, in part because of its size. Prices are modest. In the summer, there are a few outside tables. The service can be slower than some people like, mainly because the owners do everything themselves. The flip side of the extra few minutes is an absolutely fresh made-to-order salad or sandwich. I've never had an unreasonable wait, and I have never been disappointed in the Shots experience! read more

I had breakfast here and it was pricey but fine, welcome to Lenox. I came again for lunch and I paid $15 for a plain iced coffee and a BLT on grocery store bought bread and bagged chips. Everything here is overpriced for what it is. Nothing is bad, nor worth writing about how good it is. The service is ok. The cafe does have the benefit of outdoor seating in the center of Lennox, so if watching and being watched is why you're actually looking for a place to eat, this might be the one for you. read more

I have come here 3 times because their drinks are good, breakfast good and they have nice out door seating, but unfortunately the service has been uniformly terrible. Forgotten items. Forgotten silverware. Out of key menu items over a period of several days. Long waits even when no more than 3 parties at restaurant. Poor comprehension of English. Argued with me when I took a cappuccino back because it was too cold. Very disappointing. read more

AMAZING CHAI! I am the pickiest person ever when it comes to my Chai Latte, which I get on a daily basis in my hometown. Everywhere I travel, I am almost always underwhelmed... until Shots! Besides their great Chai, we also enjoyed a delicious breakfast at Shots Cafe and some wraps for lunch to-go. Both our breakfast and lunch were fantastic! I like this place very much it's run by Matt and Liliana. Everything is done well. The other reviewers who say its pricey are apparent juveniles. It's about 10.00 for a sandwich. The drinks are excellent the vanilla chai is one of the best I've had. I've traveled coast to coast and this is a very nice cafe. read more

Visited Shots on a Monday for lunch. Great cafe, menu, and staff. I had the Diego Rivera - loved it! Perfectly seasoned, and the artisan bread made the sandwich. We will definitely return and try the breakfasts! read more

Our visit here was a very sour note in an otherwise lovely weekend trip. Several of my forty-something friends were in town for a rare weekend together, and we decided to grab a quick lunch before heading out of town. As we slowly began to receive our sandwiches, it became clear that the staff had forgotten one of our orders. After asking the staff about it several times, one staff member came to our table and asked my friend to come to the register. She was then shown the register tape to "prove" that she had not paid for her sandwich. (This was in front of a long line of people waiting to order.) After insisting that she had, in fact, paid for a sandwich, the owner was called on the phone. I should note that none of us were offered receipts when we placed our orders. After another long wait, the staff member begrudgingly agreed to make a sandwich but stated she would not offer any money back. (We had asked for none.) At this point, disgusted, humiliated, and one of us still hungry, we walked out. We had been there over an hour at this point. Shockingly poor customer service, a needlessly unhappy experience, and they owe my friend $10 and change. read more

If anyone would like the uncensored version I will be glad to message it to you. So here's my cleaned up review for all you yelpers so that you don't waste your hard earned money here. It was a little busy when I arrived but they had 5 people working behind the counter. Ordered two sandwiches and two ice teas. $28? Must be your obnoxious way of letting the Tanglewood crowd know that you're in "historic Lenox"? We sit after paying and watched everyone get their food while I watched my partner eat her sandwich alone. After a half hour I asked the kid who took our order where my sandwich was. His response said it all. "I don't know" (while shrugging his shoulders). Awesome response kid. How bout you ask someone? Just seems like the most logical thing to me. I ask another guy behind the counter and he looks over to the kitchen area and says "it's coming" Funny thing is the only thing being made is a tuna salad. So not only are the employees stupid they're also liars. Great customer service. That's probably why you guys charge so much. Now on to the finale which is the icing on the cake. After realizing my sandwich clearly had been forgotten I asked for my money back. No one flinched. Went right to the cash register and grabbed my money. No apology. Not a single word. Awesome! Rather than make a scene we just got up and left. I hope whomever owns this place reads this review because I have a few suggestions. But a small note pad and pencil and have the people who take the orders write them down. And in the event it happens again apologize. And then give the customer the sandwich for free. It's called "customer service" Given what you charge for a sandwich I'm sure it's not going to put a dent in your profits. If I can discourage one person from eating here from this review I will feel a small measure of satisfaction. Something neither my stomach or wallet felt. Take your money over to Betty's. The only thing redeeming about this cafe was that it was open on New Years day and my friends seemed to like the sandwiches they ordered...NEGATIVES - Extremely SLOW Service; all I ordered was a cup of soup, it took them 30 minutes and when they finally brought it, the soup was not even warm! Very pricey and you do not get a lot for your money. Any "extras" are exhorbitantly expensive. Breakfast burrito was about $9. It was small and came with nothing else (so a small tortilla, some scrambled eggs, bacon, and a few sprinkles of chopped peppers). It took them a long time to make my coffee drink and no coffee refills with breakfast. Asked them to not butter the toast that came with my girfriend's meal but they did and, when they brought new toast, they immediately took the other toast off her plate. They made a family of 3 move away from the window seat (seat yourself) because they didn't have four people. All two bites of the food was good quality at least. The server was nice but clueless. She could have been new, but for a $30 breakfast we weren't very forgiving. read more

Shots cafe is a great spot to have breakfast or lunch. The food is superb, especially the French toast. The smoothies are a great choice, and they are dairy free. The service was pretty slow, and my tea mug was cracked. Some of the tables are wobbly. The location of shots cafe is excellent. The seating outside is great. read more

The reason this place gets only one star, is because of a poor treatment I received as a customer from the staff of this place. The Greek wrap we had was fine. However, I also ordered a cup of tea and when it was brought to me it was lukewarm and kind of tasteless. I deliberated if I should say something, just leave it, or ask for hot water. Finally I decided to ask for hot water in a to-go cup, so I could put the tea bag I already got and get a hot tea. When I explained this to a woman at the counter, she seemed to not understand me. Then she gave to a to go cup with half an inch of hot water. I explained again what I wanted and why, she filled the cup more but I could feel some resistance from her. She did not believe me that the water could have been lukewarm. Indeed the water from a spout was piping hot, but I could have sat on a counter for a while, in any case when it got to me, it was not hot. As I stepped out of her side to put my dishes away, I heard her complaining to other staff how I was trying to get a free tea. My friend was still standing at the counter and had to set her straight, that it was not "a free" tea, the tea that was served was cold and we did not ask for a new tea bag, just some hot water. I have never gotten this much attitude about a cup of hot water and accused of trying to cheat the store and lying about the water being not hot. Seems to me this woman was more concerned about giving (the cost) of a cup of water than if her clients were pleased with the experience. So not only do I have a bad taste in my mouth after this, I wonder where else this attitude manifested itself in the operation of this business. I advise you spend your money elsewhere, where people care about their customers. There are plenty of cafes in that area. read more

We recently went in for some soup - a bowl - and the serving was insultingly small for what we paid. I wonder - is the cup of soup served in a shot glass? The girl behind the counter looked as though she was just roused from a deep sleep, and she acted as enthused as a child who was just asked to clean the bathroom. And speaking of the bathroom....so dirty! I actually took a wet paper towel and wiped down the disgusting baseboard, it was just filthy. The floors in the restaurant need a serious scrubbing and ultimately, they need to be replaced because they are in terrible shape. This is a restaurant in a high-end money town -- you think you could step it up? You are asking people to spend an arm and a leg for a splash of soup and a limp piece of bread. So disappointed. It looked like a cute little place to grab soup and a sandwich while walking around. Ordered two cups of tomato soup and a tuna sandwich. It took about 25 minutes to get the food. This cafe serves delicious drinks and food. All the wraps have been tasty, finally, a place where I don't have to scrape an inch of foam off the top of a cafe au lait. Our server, Steve, was so helpful and pleasant, it really makes a difference when the waitstaff are nice. They were nearly out of the tea my mother wanted but as we were leaving, he gave her a sample tea bag that he had put together in a little container from more inventory he had found out back. How sweet! The cheerful decor is welcome on a gray day in December and best of all for me, the acoustics mean you can have a conversation easily without straining to hear. read more

Pluses include outdoor seating, a nice location and some gluten free options. Minuses: Poached eggs were overcooked on 2 occasions, as mentioned by another reviewer. Croissants were soggy (a bit of heating would have helped), and almond danish much too mushy and too sweet. Coffee served outdoors, but you have to carry it back inside to get cream or milk. Staff is friendly but untrained and spacey. Fruit salad with yogurt, granola and honey consisted of fresh fruit with a hint of yogurt splashed over it. When I asked for a side of yogurt, I was told it was unavailable. The owner came over and told me that her "concept" is that of her native country Mexico, essentially explaining that I was wrong to expect a decent serving of yogurt with my order, and that they didn't keep enough yogurt on hand to serve side orders, apparently even if I was willing to pay for it. We were charged at the register before seeing the food, so no sending it back, and were charged for coffee refills. How do you spell tourist trap?
