Very bad experience! They charge you for food then don't give it to you. Terrible service. Terrible management. Can you give less then 1 star rating on yelp? I have a home in Lenox and had five professional female friends in for the weekend. We went to Shots Cafe for lunch before heading to the airport. I can honestly say this was the worst experience I have had at a restaurant in ten years. Each of us ordered and paid for our meals. Five of our meals were delivered over a period of 20 minutes while one person sat patiently and waited for her food. A staff member approached the table and we asked about the missing meal. The staff member left the table and returned in a few minutes at which time she asked my friend to leave the table and approach the front counter. She then showed her a register tape from one of the three registers and accused her in front of about ten other customers of not ordering and paying for her meal. So after paying for a meal that never came the staff publicly humiliated us and refused to remedy the situation. She was charged over $10 then parades through a full restaurant of people and accused of not paying. Staff then loudly announced they were calling the owner. We sat and waited quietly for the situation to be resolved. After more time, and we needed to get to the airport, we again approached the staff to asked for a refund. The staff member announced "our owner said we can make you the sandwich but we don't give money refunds." It had been about an hour. The staff were rude, the situation was not resolved, we were out of time and ended up have to leave with only five out of six customers getting fed and never received a refund. The Shots Cafe basically stole $10.75 from my friend, publicly humiliated a customer, and had no interest in customer care or resolving the situation. I will never eat here again. I recommend choosing another lunch spot if you are in Lenox. This restaurant cares nothing about its customers and the staff are encouraged by the owner to give poor cutover service when they make a mistake and take money without providing the purchased item. If they can't keep track of the orders after they take someone's money they should be in the habit of giving a receipt to cash paying customers. In response to your response: I have never written a bad review before. I appreciate your reply however no one "demanded" a sandwich. A sandwich was purchased and not received. I do consider it poor manners and rude to ask a guest in your establishment to leave her party to come to the counter and be confronted in front of other guests and accused of not paying or not ordering a sandwich. It was very embarrassing. I never said anyone was "mean." I indicated that we felt we were treated badly so we left. It was staff that made a scene. We were sitting quietly waiting with every expectation that it was not going to be a problem until staff made us feel they believed we were doing something unsavory. We are six business women who met for the weekend and wanted lunch before heading to the airport not rowdy kids trying to steal a sandwich. Your reply makes it seem like staff tried to immediately remedy the situation which simply is not the truth. Saying you wish to please your customers while in the same post refers to myself and other guests as "mean" is a bit of a contradiction. I understand your impulse to defend your staff but you can't apologize for the negative experience and blame the customer. You weren't there and you're not accurately depicting the situation. I think that giving cash paying customers a receipt would help immensely in this situation in the future. The entire situation was regrettable. read more

The good news: There are better options nearby! Now for my story: I went in a week ago when the shop was not busy and looked over the pastries. All were missing prices and a couple were missing descriptive tags so that it wasn't possible to know what was inside without asking. I have some hearing loss so when I tried speaking to an older foreign woman behind the counter things did not go well. She had an unpleasant brusque manner and her accent made it difficult to understand her. Undaunted, I motioned to a young man next to her to see if I might do better. I pointed to a plate in the pastry selection and asked if he could tell me what they were. "I have no idea" he dully replied as though the matter was solved. "Can you please find out?" I asked. He sighed as if the question was beneath his very high position of barista-in-training. He went back to ask the older woman. She scowled at me as though I was making her life pure Hell. (I didn't dare ask the price!) I took the hint and left thinking with some relief it was actually kind of funny how rude they were. read more

Eh.... this place seemed like it was trying to be a trendy coffee house, but just failed. First, the service was slow. Two coffee drinks took forever to make with three or four people working behind the counter. Also, my cappuccino was a complete failure. It was served in a huge paper cup, meaning it had way more milk than it should have have. And, as could be expected when your cappuccino is served in a comically giant cup, the milk was not properly foamed; it was just warm milk I could have heated in the microwave myself. read more

The food here was bland and unsatisfying. The chocolate chip cookie tasted like cardboard, the bagel like a bad supermarket one, and the coffee mediocre. The staff were exceptionally friendly but they forgot about my chocolate chip cookie despite my having paid for it. The seats are uncomfortable and although the decor tries to resonate an artsy tone it clearly is deceptive. Their brownie tasted a little above average and they do have an air conditioner in the store. They do have WiFi and have a few tables outside. Disappointing. An attractive café with a pleasant sidewalk dining area, but sadly, erratic food quality and unpleasant, excruciatingly slow service. My omelette was fine and reasonably priced, but it took 45 minutes to arrive. My coffee was so weak that I decided to swap it (paying a surcharge) for a café latté. Standing in line to order (done at the cash) I noticed that the owner was going along the line helping people behind me who were waiting. When I asked if she might take my order, she snapped at me to do that at the cash. Her instruction was not unreasonable, but her rudeness (toward me and a couple of other customers who needed help) was a little shocking. The service was quite disorganized. People who arrived earlier than us were served later. People who arrived long after us were served 25 minutes earlier. Diners around us received meals with no utensils or napkins. Really good food and drink, really uneven service. I'm afraid this little cafe is trying to do too much. They have alot of potential. A lot. Delectable baked goods, about a dozen tables (indoors and outdoors), an impressive array of coffees, teas and lattes, and organic ingredients. However, they seem overwhelmed when faced with more than 2-4 people ordering prepared meals (e.g. Eggs and toast). If you don't mind waiting for your food, and dealing with a mix of slightly frazzled and completely spacy, overwhelmed staff, then you'd be pleased here. If not, you may want to stick with their quicker pre-made options, like iced coffee and muffins. The quality is great and the taste and presentation are above average; they just need to learn to better handle multiple orders at once, if they plan to continue offering full plates. read more

Lenox is a beautiful place to visit. Cute downtown and we were looking for a place to get pastries as we explored the town. Everything was pretty much closed with the exception of this place (probably a COVID issue). Shots had plenty of customers, outdoor seating, a comfortable and inviting interior. BUT, then we ordered a couple of chocolate croissants. We're very fond of chocolate croissants. Not these however. Although they were unwrapped and sitting in a very attractive display case they tasted as if they had come either from the Bimbo bakery or the Dollar General. Not sure which one but, regardless, they ended up in the trash. We are now in Springfield. I can definitely recommend "Granny's Baking Table". Their croissants get 5 stars. read more

My son, his friend and I stopped here on our way through the Berkshires. It is a nice little cafe, with a diverse but not overly ambitious menu of sandwiches, wraps and salads, several daily soups, pastries, and a good coffee and tea selection. The boys and I had sandwiches, all of which left us satisfied. My son, who often orders BLTs, claimed that theirs was the best he has ever had. My Cuban sandwich was decent; not as good as those I have had in restaurants that specialize in such things, but quite good for a cafe. The employees were kind, patient, and accommodating. They cheerfully answered our questions, and uncomplainingly helped another customer who accidentally spilled her coffee on the floor. The space is cramped, with a group of tables in the front between the counter and the window, and several more along the side. Sitting three people on the tables along the side causes one of them to be blocking the aisle. The food prices were on the high side, roughly $10 for most sandwiches, but probably in line with other restaurants in town. The drink prices were comparable to those of other upscale cafes. From the look of the neighborhood and Lenox in general, I suspect that rents are pretty high. Our experience was positive, and I would consider going there again when in the area. read more

Decided to walk around historic Lenox on a beautiful summer day. Looking for a snack, we spotted Shots Cafe. It looked promising. The server, was anything but friendly. It was like we were bothering her. We ordered a piece of a Chocolate Mousse Cake that looked amazing, but after our first bite, we knew it had been in the case for a few days too long. A friend and I settled on Shots after we discovered that our favorite restaurant, Spoons, had closed. Our experience was disappointing. My friend and I ordered our panini, one after the other, and she was nearly finished with hers by the time mine appeared. We questioned the manager about why my wait was so long, and she told us (inaccurately) that my order had been placed "after" my friend's. True, but 45 seconds after doesn't merit an extra 15-minute wait. The "coffee station," where you add your cream and sugar, was directly above the bins for dirty dishes, the bathroom had, umm, "material" in the toilet bowl and no paper towels, and the oatmeal cookie I ordered (which they had also forgotten to give me) was stale and tasteless. I'd have been willing to spot them at least two stars, giving them the benefit of the doubt--every place has an occasional bad day. However, my wait for my meal, the quality of the food, the icky bathroom, and the staff actually arguing with me, with no expressed apology other than a brownie "on the house," about the poor service, was just too much. In reference to Laura O's review: A huge disappointment! My friend was treated very unfairly and publically embarrassed by an inexperienced cashier who accused her of not paying for her meal. The cashier was not tactful or polite, simply coming to our table where everyone else had already been served, pointing her out and bringing her up to the register, before accusing her in front of a long line of customers that there was no record she paid for her meal and would not be served. We are a group of middle aged professional women -- not a group of rowdy teenagers! -- and dining and dashing would be the absolute last thought on our minds. Since the owner was not in the building, the cashier called the owner. After a drawn out conversation with owner, the cashier finally agreed to make the meal, but because we had been there already for nearly an hour, we could not wait any longer. The cashier and other employees were extremely unhelpful and unprofessional, and clearly need more training on customer service skills, especially in embarrassing customers and accusing them of not paying in front of a crowd of other customers. There is one thing that you can take for granted about the Berkshires: people are super-nice and friendly. But every rule has its exception and Shots is its poster child. Not only is service inept and slow, it is also unpleasant and nasty. We were almost alone in the restaurant, but the owner and an assistant could not cope with our order of beer and sandwich. It took 20 minutes to get a warm beer and 30 minutes to get the wrong sandwich. I will never go there again. read more

This is owned by a husband and wife, and they also staff it...Sunday morning, didn't want to go to Haven, because is was so crowded, moseyed on down here to the corner of Housatonic St.....I had scrambled eggs and spinach with cheddar cheese and didnt wait longer than it took to make it... Unfortunately, I've had to reassess my opinion of Shots - mostly based on the service here. While the food is still delicious, my most recent visits have been very frustrating, service-wise. We came again for breakfast (four of us), and sat outside on a beautiful sunny day. However, it took a long time to order, and then a looooong time for our food to arrive. When it did arrive, it all came at different times. By the time NY husband's meal arrived, I had finished eating my omelette. I came again for a sandwich (take out) at lunch, and again it took foreve, even though it was not busy inside at all. Sadly, I just don't think the food is worth the general inefficiency of the service and long wait times, so it is unlikely I'll be back. read more
