The beer was nice and cold and the tacos were okay, I had the roast chicken and the al pastor tacos, both meats were dried out but the chicken tacos had enough salsa on them to counter the dryness. We came here after running in the kids Pittsburgh Marathon. First off the atmosphere is awesome, fire pit, Cornhole, duck pins (inside), arcade games (inside). The service was also really good. The downgrade in stars comes from the food. The menu is really limited and the portions are really really small. Only giving 2 stars because our waitress was super sweet. Granted we did go on a weekend so it was busy, but we were fine with waiting. We walked in and put our name on the list for duck bowling. It was a 2.5 hour wait. In the meantime we figured we'd play some games... turns out everything is timed and costs extra. Duck bowling is $20 per person per hour. And the ball return was broke so I had to ask 3 times for them to bring us balls from the back we spent all that money and half the time were just standing there. While waiting we started playing shuffle board thinking it was free bc it was just out, but someone came up and was like sorry your time it up and then was upset when we said we didn't check it out it was just there. All the arcade games you have to get a card and load money on it like Chuck E Cheese. When we finally got a table we ordered food the tacos were terrible mine came out cold and they are so tiny for $8. I was super excited for this place but sooooo over priced and so upset that bowling was just a waiting game the whole time. We only got to play 1 game in an hr because we had no balls. read more

The bouncer at the entrance refused to let me in because he assumed I was "too drunk," when I only had 2 drinks at another bar prior. Found it funny how he only outed me since I was the only girl with 3 other guys who had more to drink than I did. He never said anything about them, just said "she's too drunk to come in." read more

Food is good, beer selection is wide variety, but a bunch of random stuff that no one knows. Can't just get a bud light. Games are a rip off. Can't just walk in and play a simple game like foosball or shuffle board. Have to pay money to get a plastic ball. Reminds me of a freemium app on your phone. I have never left a review before, but felt this time I had to so the owners of Shorty's Pins & Pints on the North Shore know how poorly their staff handle things. Was in there for the first and last time 9/2/23. While standing near a game with my 2yr grandson my daughter felt some thing run over her foot. She looks down and it was a mouse. Of course she screamed out of shock. She took a pic as it was just sitting by machine. Management came over looked around and said " well whats the big deal it's just a mouse. Then said what do you expect we're right on the river, it could've been a big river rat !!! I have been in the restaurant business for over 30yrs most of which have been in management, I can't imagine ever handling a situation that way, We didn't even get a half hearted apology, even if the management didn't mean it. Waited for 30+ mins for a bowling lane to open after the employee told us 15 mins and lanes were open and we were next on the wait list but the lane wasn't assigned to us. We left. Don't waste your time or money here. Drinks and service are mediocre at best. read more

Very disappointed. I've been looking forward to this place opening up for the past two years only to find out that their menu is far to be desired. It exists of Pretty much a selection of 5 soft shell corn tacos. You get two EXTREMELY SMALL tacos in an order for $9.00. Be prepared to placed 2-3 orders if you are even mildly hungry. I got the Beef BBQ taco and had to really look hard to find the beef under the amount of salad topping. Very disappointing menu! Quality was marginal at best, and again serving size / value was extremely poor. Never going back. read more

Our plans got scuttled and we were trying to find a place to accommodate us. Shortys let us use their Karaoke room for 25 bucks. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and we had the best night ever!! Will definitely be back. Oh and the food was delicious too!! read more

It's a nice place to hang out and the duckpin bowling is a lot of fun, but DO NOT eat here. I spent too much money on the poorest excuse for tacos I've ever experienced. I don't know if they even deserve to be classified as tacos. The portions are also quite small. One of my friends also got tacos so between the two of us, we tried 3 or 4 flavors and they were all incredibly bland. I've talked to other friends who've been on other nights and they also agree the food is terrible. Fun place to go, but eat beforehand! read more

Had the best time at Shorty's for my birthday!! I contacted them prior to planning my celebration there and although they did not take reservations for a table we still decided to go there anyway and it was really fun! You can reserve a private space but there is a bar and food minimum and it's pretty expensive so we just took our chances with getting a table and got lucky. We had about 20 people in our group and the waitress (Mary Ann) was awesome!! She took great care of us, gave us recommendations on the menu and joked with us! We all really enjoyed her. I got mixed reviews from my group about the food but they may still be working out some things since they are new! We had to put our name in for the duck pin bowling and it was about an hour wait but it was really fun and different. The whole place was extremely packed!! Was super excited when I saw this was coming to North Shore. This place has a very cool atmosphere, but good luck finding a table if you don't show up early. Cocktails ranged from about $10-13 each but weren't anything spectacular. I went with a group of friends and we split the pizza box nachos. The cheese was very watery and the chips ending up a soggy mess. The flavor was good, however, not worth $20 for nachos. Wanted to try their slushies but their machines were "not set up yet." Hopefully they can work out the kinks, because it has a lot of potential to be a fun weekend hangout location! read more

My son was in town for the holidays and we drove to the North Shore to try Shorty's because we wanted to duckpin bowl after our meal. There were a few holiday events going on at the same time we were there but overall the place wasn't busy at all. We felt very dismissed throughout our whole evening by the wait staff as it was well over an hour and a half of our time there between sitting down and getting our food. Other than placing our order (after sitting for 30 min) and the food being delivered by someone else, we were invisible. If it was busier around us it would make more sense and feel understandable. The food was okay, not great, but very pricy for what you get - After tip (which the waitress watched the transaction as my husband was paying) we spent over $80 for some bar food and three drinks. (I got the 'taco' (lettuce) salad - it's an up charge for any protein, my son got two micro cold chicken tacos and my husband got the breakfast burrito). Again, some grace here, the place is downtown and you're paying for the experience and location. We wanted to bowl, as that was why we drove here, just to learn that you can only bowl in one hour increments. Since we spent so much of the evening waiting on our food service and some of us needed to work the next day, and already dropped $80+ on the food, we skipped paying another $60 to be able to bowl. I asked if we could just bowl a game or two vs the hour increment and we could not - so the empty lanes remained unused and we wrapped up our evening. Driving the 30 minutes back to the house without bowling and after spending so much, we all decided we would not go back to Shorty's. This is my first Yelp review and I, we, are overall very understanding and just let 99% of things go when we go out to eat, but this 'experience' was this disappointing. read more
