The perfect, classic, 50s style diner, complete with all day breakfast and milkshakes, iykyk. Their portions are huge! Perfect to bring home yummy leftovers. Shorty's sucks. I live up the street, and I get it. Good for them. But the food is so-so and that is being nice. The service is horrible. I know it is the kick off of Summer but still. Two breakfast orders were perfect. Totally delicious country potatoes, omelets and sausage links. Excellent fresh hot coffee. $35. Angelica had fantastic customer service; smiles, attentive, professional. My husband and I sat outside and took in the fresh air and peaceful atmosphere on the first stop of our road trip to Sun Valley. Truth be told, there food was amazing!! It was fast, fresh and it ended up in my stomach pretty fast lol This place was very warm. The workers were all very respectful and cheerful. The theme is very much like a diner, lol it was very welcoming and clean. I will definitely be coming here for breakfast more often. read more

We did have a couple of issues there when we went for lunch, but they were awesome! My partner asked for no onions on a Patty's Melt, got onions. They fixed it straight away. I didn't complain about getting the roast beef vs roasted turkey sandwich (really, not a big deal, I was just going to take it home for when I wanted beef). noticed I hadn't eaten my sandwich (I took my kid to the bathroom) and as soon as I came back, they asked if their was something wrong with the sandwich. I said it was not turkey, but it was fine. They said, no, they would fix it, and they did. Brought me a new sandwich (and chips even though I ate most of the chips) to take home without charge. 10/10 We still love this place. read more

All staff interacted and exceeded expectations beyond "the Chick-Fil-A standard". Food looked great and tasted high quality. The kids were even happy with it. Inside it was clean and well decorated; just what you would expect from a period diner. I can't think of anything to criticize. Nothing was a let-down. This place could be amazing. The corn cakes are absolutely delicious. They lose it on the details. To begin, diners are about coffee, their coffee is burnt, I had to wait ten minutes for a refill, and there's never enough cream on the table. There's very few veggie options and the veggie skillet is really mediocre. There's very few omelettes and scrambles to choose from in general and the options aren't very creative. The tortilla on the burrito wasn't blistered and all the eggs were stuck on the bottom not evenly distributed. Basically, this place could be amazing if they paid attention to details, not even minor details, just some. Please improve, we love coming here and with the slightest bit of work it can be amazing. read more

We just finished eating . I would give the Food a 2 star but service was excellent so I'm giving 3 stars. I'm not sure what cut of meat they use for their country fried steak. But it's definitely not traditional and taste kinda gross. I ate half of it being I was hungry. My son who loves French toast had to force a few slices down as well. He said "this isn't good . My other son had their pancakes. He had no complaints. For a Diner I'm kinda bummed, I was expecting better. Service was wonderful. The young kids were very polite, helpful and did their jobs with a smile. Not something I see everyday from the younger crowd. read more

This quaint little 50's style cafe was a great start to our morning in Hailey. We split the denver omelette since we weren't too hungry. It was delicious! While it was a little messy to eat because it kept falling apart but that didn't really change anything. The hash browns were delicious as well, and they actually butter your toast for you. I've been to many diners where they don't do that so I appreciated it. 10/10 recommend to kickstart your day here! Oh also the coffee was great as well. read more

So today my family and i went for lunch, the waitress while taking our order referred to my son (who is 3) as a girl "what does she want?" i responded that he is a boy and just wears his hair long. then Ana p. responds with well you never know he might not want to be a boy and will change to girl. then laughs like its appropriate comment to make. i left the rude as f&ck remark alone and when two of us asked for sides or ranch and a side of bbq for our fries. she decides to combine the ranch sides as one and leaves a smallest amount to be for bbq (not enought for even half the order of fries) but the food was good and Ana clearly needs a lesson in appropriate customer speach. the food was 4 stars and Ana gets no stars!! read more

Shorty's has been decorated to feel like a vintage diner. There are vintage Coca-Cola, Beatles, and other posters on the wall. The servers were nice and did their best to accommodate us. The food was slow. They had only one cook. The shakes were not great. They tasted like a fast food shake (think McDonald's). The rest of the food was fair. Generic Denny's type food. The reason for two stars is because the food was ok and the location, building, and atmosphere are welcoming. The menu is limited to your basic diner options, but at a more expensive price, because it is in Hailey, Idaho. I had chocolate chip pancakes, biscuits and gravy, and sausage. The pancakes tasted like the processed make at home Betty Crocker kind with generic chocolate chips. The biscuits and gravy were decent, but mostly gravy and a mediocre biscuit. I've never been so excited to arrive at a restaurant, but biking 12 miles to get there will do that to ya. It's a family restaurant so I was surprised to see no changing table in the bathroom, but then again that seems to be the norm in this area. I really enjoyed the huevos ranchero I ordered and Baby R was super excited about her pancakes. I tasted them (or maybe ate half of them) and agree they were pretty good. My husband and father-in-law weren't as excited about their breakfast burrito, which gave them both a bad stomach ache...not so fun for the 12 mile bike ride home. Worth biking 12 miles to get to? I've been here many times but usually for breakfast, which has always been great. Also, great service. Went for lunch the other day and was greatly disappointed. Service was quick, but no one came by to ask if everything was OK. It wasn't. I ordered a chili dog with onion rings. The chili was gross and worse, the oil the onion rings were fried in was old.
