This is our 2nd time using Short Hop and it went great!! Getting estimate was easy and exactly what we paid in the end- no surprises. Our movers were polite and very careful with all our furniture and boxes. They took the time to explain how they would wrap and transport my antiques. They made sure they were taking the right items and did it all super fast! I ended up adding a couple items last minute and they gave me no grief about doing it at all! When we unloaded I just directed where things went and they placed everything right where I wanted it... They would offer to help do extra stuff but I felt I could handle it, but it was very nice of them since it wasn't in their job description. I will always use this company and I recommend them 100%. The boys they sent to move us were pleasant and polite and one or two of the group seemed to actually care about what they were doing but, for the most part, they were unprofessional and had no training as how to pack or properly lift a heavy box. It was a long, grueling process for all and they were visibly exhausted but their packing was disorganized and they simply left things behind that I found a week later in the old house. Although the young men who came out worked very hard and were personable, the damage done to my hardwood floors screams that they need training on how to properly move heavy furniture and appliances. There are also scratches on the washer glass door. read more

I can't recommend and praise this moving company enough! They had solutions to my moving issues before I had a moment's anxiety. This century old house with its narrow stairs was no challenge for these guys. They all work so well as a team as they organized and maneuvered my furniture throughout my house. Some pieces were way to big to get up the stairs and before a blink of an eye one of them was dismantling it so it would fit and get to where it was supposed to go! Not to mention I have a ton of holiday decorations. So additional help was called in so that everything was off the truck by 7pm. At the end of the move I had a few pieces of furniture that I needed to be either repositioned or just moved a bit. Everyone was so polite and accommodating to every one of my requests. This is a follow up to my earlier review of Short Hop Moving. We finally closed on our home in December. All I can say is steer clear of this company. Our belongings were chipped, cracked, and otherwise in bad shape. The contents of the storage units as I said previously were stacked to the tippy top of the units. There were broken pieces in boxes. I phoned "Greg" the office manager and he never called me back. I wonder why? I wouldn't use this company if they were the last movers left on earth. Terrible !!!! Do your self a favor and find a competent company that does a thorough review of the contents of what you are moving and gives that information to the movers themselves. This was a fiasco. read more

We had a unique request that we needed things moved from one house to three other houses in about a twenty mile radius. They were happy to help. Three young guys showed up, and honestly I was a bit ageist in my initial reaction to their youth. They quickly allayed any doubts I might have had about their experience and abilities because they moved quickly and efficiently, and packed our furniture in the truck carefully. We were paying by the hour so they could have drawn it out, but they certainly did not. We ended up being charged less than the estimate. Would absolutely use again. read more

We had a very positive moving experience with Short- Hop last week. The movers arrived on time and completed the entire move well within the estimated time, about 4 hours. The move was within Annapolis with the two homes only 5 miles apart. We moved from a 2 bedroom condo to a three bedroom townhome. The young men who moved us were very professional & courtesy, and extremely competent, plus they really seemed to enjoy their work and working together. While the guys who did the move were careful, the estimate of $600 was WAY low. The final charge was almost $870! A nearly $300 difference. They charge by the hour. They carried one box at a time. I asked if the estimate included taking the bed apart and putting it back together because I was planning to do it myself, and the estimator assured me it did. He said they have dealt with every kind of bed I could imagine and it was no problem. (It's an Ikea bed. They did not completely disassemble it, but it still took the guy an hour to take it apart and put it back together and he dropped a part that I happened to find on the floor.) read more

Retired military so I consider myself a "veteran mover". 12 moves in 20 years. This experience was way better than the government funded moves. Used these guys to pack and move. First off the movers were nice clean cut folks. Not like those shady individuals the government usually hires. Quote was straight forward and they charged pretty close to what they quoted. Movers showed up on time to pack and move. They charge by the hour but were quick and efficient. They asked a lot of good questions in regards to packing and where to place things. Only cons are most of the crew are very young. They tried to force a few things out of rooms and doors without taking them apart. Scraped a little paint but they were receptive to feedback. Had some questions for the front office a week prior to the move and it took a little while for them to get back to me. However they eventually did contact me. We were very pleased with our Short Hop experience. They were easy to work with to set up the move and helped estimate the number of men and the amount of time we needed. We were looking to unpack the truck in two places (storage and apartment). The day before our arrival we had to reverse the order for the items packed on the truck and Short Hop was very accommodating to have the men show up at the storage facility instead of the apartment in the morning. The 3 men who came to help us with the move were friendly and professional. They arrived at the expected start time and went right to work unloading the truck. They expertly packed the storage unit fitting all the items into the relatively small space with ease. They even put the items in the order we needed to make it easier for us to get to the things we needed to get out first. They also made quick work of moving all the items into the apartment and helped move large furniture pieces around to get them where we needed. While they worked we unpacked many of the items and the Short Hop guys took the empty boxes, etc. back down to the truck for us. Short Hop was excellent end to end. We have used them in the past and they always deliver quality service in a professional manner. We recommend them to anyone making a move. read more

What can I say Good about Short Hop Movers in Annapolis? They came. Couple weeks for packing moving assessment and quoted s price which 1/3 had to be paid prior to move day. Just under $900.00. They arrived the scheduled move day and left half the house unpacked and moved and said they had to move other people. We were left with trying to get the issue resolved calling the movers office and we were blamed for nit finding the paperwork which they grabbed off kitchen counter and packed. The person we were trying to get this resolved Would NOT give us his name except some name of Brian. He refused to to work with us and blamed us for everything during this stressful moving time. DO NOT USE SHORT HOP MOVERS in Annapolis!!! They are horrible and took $900.00 of our money for doing half ass work!!! read more

Wow. This moving company is the best ever. Josh (in the office) handled all of my calls very professionally. We were playing a lot of phone tag because I had scheduling difficulties on my end (NOT THEIR'S). Josh was ALWAYS very professional, patient, and helpful. He also always returned my calls in a timely manner. The movers (Josh--and I'm so sorry that I didn't get the other gentleman's name), called ahead, arrived on time, and showed excellent teamwork in moving my roll top desk. By teamwork, I mean that they communicated with each other while unloading my heavy item from the truck, up the stairs, and into my living room. Each wanted to know if the other had sure footing and body positioning along the way--definitely safety conscious. They were very careful with my prized possession. They took their time, but made it look effortless. Kudos to everyone at Short Stop Moving. If you are on the fence about which moving company to choose, go with Short Stop. We are a military family, 18 years in the service so we aren't new to this. With that said, we were disappointed with the entire process. It started with being told our move date had not been locked in and we had to change our date due to college kids moving. Luckily, they quickly fixed the issue and we got to keep the original date. The day of the move the movers arrived LATE with no communication. I called to find out where the crew was and no one answered. When they all finally arrived, they were laughing and joking around with each other, strolling in like they had the day off. Needless to say, they sent a bunch of kids in their late teens / early 20s for a 6 bedroom military move. The worst part though is that I walked in the room and heard them talking trash about my family, specifically our kids (one who has special needs) and using profanity. Then, we discovered that a bunch of our fishing equipment and fishing poles mysteriously never made it to our new house. My husband is an avid fisher and has spent $$$ on his equipment. Next, we realized that my daughters bunk bed had not been put together properly. It was assembled with half of the screws missing!! Why was this not mentioned?? Why did they not tell us that they didn't have screws to put the bed together properly. Between showing up late, trash talking us and our kids in our own home, using profanity, and our things "missing", this was definitely the most unprofessional experience we've had. I worked with Tom to get an estimate of my move. It appears online he is one of the owners of Short Hop. I was SHOCKED by how rude, abrupt and unprofessional he was to me when it became clear there was a fairly minor misunderstanding about my online estimate form. (i.e., when I told him I had 2 heavy pieces of artwork to move he cut me off mid-sentence and said, "I'm not interested in moving those, you'll have to find another company" and hung up on me!) I have never had a business/customer service person speak to me in a tone like that. read more

The owners are HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE people. I used the company twice. The first time they were great and told me to ask for the hourly rate next time since it would be cheaper than the flat rate - they only took 2 hrs. to move me across town. I asked for the same guys the second time since I told them I was in a tight row house and some furniture would need to be lifted out the windows - the same way the first guys brought it in. I got the owners instead since they either forgot about my appt. or didn't want to pay the first guys to work on a weekend again. They showed up in a truck that was about 3 times bigger than I needed for the handful of pieces I wanted moved across town. After spending the first hour trying to open the window I told them the furniture came in and moving pillows I had only left out to use as packing, I politely asked them to get it together/concentrate on what I couldn't get myself. Then they did it all: started yelling about how hot it was and that they were working on a Sunday (which they said would not be a problem - my schedule was flexible) threw and scratched the furniture they did get down off the truck and back into my living room and screeched away before putting the window back in. I was shocked at the unprofessionalism and pleasantly surprised by the DC-based company that showed up half an hour later. They couldn't get the dresser out either but took it apart, moved me across town and glued it back together again (it's sturdier now than the day purchased) in 2 hours for less than what Short Hop planned to charge for their "service". read more

My family has moved many times in the past, using large, nationally-affiliated interstate movers. Since we moved here, we've had a few local moves and used Short Hop. I found them to be the most efficient and nicest movers I've ever used. They're incredibly reasonable (willing to move some things others aren't), and flexible (if a few items are in bags instead of boxes or are loose, no big deal). One of the biggest contributors to making an otherwise stressful day pleasant is the attitude of the crew. In spite of lugging lots of heavy stuff up and down stairs (and we had lots of book boxes), they never complained or grunted and groaned like I've experienced with others before. The guys all seem to like one another and have fun ribbing each other along the way about who's looking weak (joking of course because there was not one slacker in the group).
