Absolutely the best. Used this service last year when moving from Odenton to Ellicott City. Could not be happier! Moving is a stressful time already, and dealing with moving companies should not contribute to the stress. Case in point: Every other moving company I called required a byzantine procedure of an "estimate appointment" to even come over, look through our stuff, and estimate how much the move would cost. OMG, that's before even booking the move! Jacob answered the phone on a Sunday, asked me how many bedrooms, if I had heavy items (pool table/piano/etc.), and provided a quick estimate on the spot plus slotted me into the moving date I wanted right then and there. Movers were great and worked fast. But be sure to get a price breakdown before you pay because they charged me $150 for a U-Haul rental truck that's normal around $50. Don't pay using cash app either because you can't dispute the charge. When I emailed Jacob about the truck fee, he didn't reply back. Next time I'll use two men and a truck. read more

I'm sad to say the crew I received didn't live up to the hype. They were using very haphazard equipment and methods to move my things and dropped a box marked "fragile" six feet on their first trip down my hallway (breaking three glasses; luckily I pack very well). They then dropped another box when they got downstairs. You think the first would have been enough of a lesson, but thankfully the second box was just shoes. They then loaded my POD with all the weight on one side (even after I told them they had to distribute it) and loaded heavy boxes (books) on top of fragile boxes, crushing them. I finally just unloaded the entire POD and repacked it myself. Meanwhile, I still let them get the furniture, since I can't carry it by myself, and they ripped off all the plastic wrap that was securing the doors. This was the worst move experience I have ever had. Do not hire this company. The owner sent the wrong size truck and he sent an inexperienced crew who wasted over 7 hrs for a simple move out from a storage unit to an apartment. The crew took over 2 hrs to load a 10 x 20 unit that was neatly packed and simple to load, however because only 1 person had moving experience, it became a 1 man job. The other 2 clearly had never had moving experience which was evident in the slow move altogether. The owner also drove the wrong way (came thru the exit purposely) into the one way storage unit creating a safety hazard. He only reversed and came in the correct way once my boyfriend told him he can't do that, but he was resisted initially although he was in the wrong. The crew also did not put together any furniture. My boyfriend and I put together my bookcase, my king size bedroom set, and my dining room table. They didn't even attempt to stage the pillows on the sectional. They just dumped them on one part of the couch. There was an elevator that helped the crew go from the truck to the 3rd floor. The crew would spend 25-30 min going from the truck to the apt which is why they took over 5 hrs to unload the truck items into a 2 bedroom apt. Think about that and the fact they put together no furniture. Absolutely unacceptable. I'm prior military and have moved countless times across the country. I've never had a crew so bad and wasteful of time. Absolutely horrible experience. The property management company of the apartment complex I moved to recommended this company and they really should stop. Global Moving Systems is who I usually use and really are the best. No issues with them and they are always reasonably priced and efficient with great customer service. Please don't hire this company. I paid $820 for a job that should've been no more than $600. read more

Dropped and destroyed a $4000 computer. Then refused to cover the damages. Very shady business. Stay away. Jacob is unfortunately an unprofessional businessman and a liar. The computer was used in Crofton and stored in Crofton for 1 week. He admits his crew dropped my items. The tower was in pieces coming off the truck. He was extremely unprofessional in his emails regarding this matter. I moved here from Texas years ago, my stuff was not stored for years like he would like you to believe. I have before and after pictures. I will be filling with my own insurance at this point to recover damages. Plain and simple, this is a horrible company and you should stay away. read more

Careless with my furniture and damaged several (I'm sureto discover the others when I take everything out of storage). Not a happy customer based on that and the inefficient way things were stored in storage. I regret taking a chance and choosing this company. I expected better service and think someone with a bit more experience should have been on hand. I do think the guys are hard workers and did their best. I observed too many rookie mistakes and mishandling of things. From not wrapping furniture, manhandling wood furniture on concrete and damaging them, to not knowing how to efficiently pack a storage without wasting tons of valuable space and carelessly stacking fragile items. read more

I appreciated the customer service and ease of communication with him and his team. They came prepared, and ready to work, which was appreciated. I was not the best packer, and I made sure it was known ahead of time, but they were able to work with me and my needs. If there were any issues, Carl was willing and able to address them. I hate to have to post this and I am a little late to this but after my most recent move with another company and discovering that that OSSL damaged my furniture on my previous move and didn't tell me-I knew I had to post this review. I first used OSSL in 2019. I had a very simple move and I had two older, experienced gentleman come out and help me with said move. They were great and I had no complaints not to mention I thought that the price was more than decent given the job. When I had to move again in 2020, I chose to contact OSSL again for my move based upon my prior good experience with them. However, I did notice that they sent me a third person this time and their was an additional fee from the first time that I moved that I have never seen before however it was not that much so I decided to proceed forward. Keep in mind that I was only moving a bedroom set and boxes. They sent me 3 younger, inexperienced and unprofessional movers. They were slow, had no tools, ended up having to use my tools, my tape, my bubble wrap because they were unprepared. Constantly on their phones and I had to actually say something to them about it. Based upon what I was seeing from location 1, I knew that they would need help with location two. I had to call the Owner and demand to have another experienced mover come out to help them and thank god that I did. I have moved 5 times in five years and never had any issues but on this move, they busted the castors off my bedroom set, damaged an entertainment center. The three people they sent me didn't even know how to reassemble the bed and didn't have any tools to do so. This move took double the time and had to have a fourth person to come out to move a bedroom set-disappointing at best. They price I had to pay doubled from move one and I was literally moving the same amount of stuff from move one. I was not happy at all. When I considered them for a third move, I was clear that we were moving the same things with the exception of adding 3 chairs and an ottoman, and I reminded them about my last move and demanded they send me experienced movers with tools and properly equipped. Their extra charge on their quote now more than doubled. I honestly just had a bad feeling about it and I decided to get some other quotes and review other companies. I hired another company which was way more competitive in price, only two guys that were quick, efficient and careful. This new company actually pointed out to me when they slid/moved my dresser from the wall that there was a massive hole punched in the back that OSSL movers never informed me of when they damaged it on the last move. It's the principle for me. I gave them two stars because the first move was good and because of that is why I did not post this review initially after the second move. But I already was displeased with the ridiculousness of the second move, then receiving another quote with these ever changing moving fees and then to see that they damaged even more of my furniture than I saw and didn't tell me-I had to write the review. I'm glad that I went with my gut on this move and decided not to proceed forward with a third move with them. Stuff happens, I get it. I've used OSSL for the second time (hopefully the last) after buying our new home. They were professional, courteous, on time. The move took all day but not necessarily because of their timing but more so because I had big old and heavy furniture. Most people had replaced their project screen tv years ago. Not me I one of the very 1st people to adopt HD tv and I still have my 65 inch Mitsubishi project screen with an HDMI converter ad well as a California king. Good team of movers. Pros: efficient moving of items (mostly boxes, very little furniture), large pieces of glass were carefully wrapped, very professional and friendly staff. Cons: I was told of a 3 hr. minimum charge ONLY AFTER the move was completed in 2. I felt this was dishonest and I fully expect a discount on my next service. Overall I would use OSSL again. Generally avoid writing negative reviews but had to this time. The lead up to the move was great; friendly and easy to communicate with. They even offered to do a walk-through of the house I was moving out of before offering an estimate, which I though was a great idea. From that they estimated the move would take 6-8 hours, 10 at the most. Also offered to help with packing services if we needed it and quoted us a price for three people to help with the packing. A week before the move we called to request the packing help to through the homestretch. The packers showed up late (which the owner admitted was his mistake) and there was only two of them. We were given a discount because of that (from $85 to $70) but there was not enough time for just two of them to finish what needed to be done, so they came back the next morning but still did not finish the job; they said they had to go to another job after an hour or so, so my wife and I had to hurriedly pack things as the move was beginning. The move itself was going well initially but seemed to be moving slowly. Might have been due to the many cigarette breaks (when they weren't smoking in the truck as it was being loaded), but I trusted they would get the job done. We were very upfront about needing at least our kids' beds rebuilt in their new rooms by 6:30 PM so they could go to sleep on time. The move started at 10:00 AM, which was the earliest they were willing to start despite our request to start as early as 8:00 AM, and they assured me those 8.5 hours were enough time. Long story (somewhat) short, they didn't start unloading the truck until about 5:30 PM and the kids' beds were not completed until about 7:30. At 10:00 PM, after 12 hours (remember they estimated 10 hours at the most) they said they needed to stop for the night. Ended up coming back the next morning for an additional hour, then told me everything was out of my old house and we were done. I was a little annoyed at the final number of hours we were billed for, but was glad it was over. I then went by the old house to check and turns out they left a lot of stuff behind. Furniture, shelving, pictures, yard equipment, etc. I sent the owner photos of these items to complain about the job being incomplete and asking for some money back. His response was to offer excuses rather than apologize and accept responsibility. He blamed us for having too much stuff (even though he had walked through the house ahead of time and saw the scale of the job); said we were unclear about what should be moved because I told them to leave some folding chairs and a TV behind; said I wasn't around all day to direct them because I made a couple trips in my car taking fragile things to the new house that the packers didn't get to. Basically, anything except accepting responsibility for a job that was only 90% completed despite being way over the estimated time frame. He did agree to give some money back, but it took sustained haggling to get that amount up to just one hour of time billed. TLDR: took way longer than estimated, left a good amount of stuff behind in my old house, and refused to accept responsibility for either of these things. read more

I had the pleasure of booking Jacob's moving company this weekend. I was able to book him in a short notice, he had the best prices after receiving estimates from 2 other companies on Yelp. Jacob responded very quickly compared to other moving companies, which helped me with my final decision on booking them. Jacob and company were very thorough, professional and fast. They moved my entire 3bedroom town home into my new condo within 3 hours which even included the disassemble and reassemble of the queen bed frame. They were very cautious of my fragile belongings and nothing was broken or missing. I hope I never have to use them again b/c I hate moving however if for any reason I decide to move anytime in the near future or need to recommend movers it definitely will be this moving company! OSSL's/Jacob replies were prompt, courteous and everything seemed fine. According to our verbal and email agreement we were the second scheduled move of the day However, 45 minutes after our scheduled pickup window (3:45pm) there was no truck in sight and no communication from OSSL. I grew concerned and contacted them first. My phone call to the owner was met with an apathetic reply. The owner, Jacob, continued to tell me we were actually the 3rd pickup of the day, and the crew was halfway done with a prior move. My email/verbal agreements prove otherwise and there was no apology or concern on OSSL's part. Absolute apathy. Jacob continued to tell me the truck & crew would get there at 7:30pm well over 4.5 hours after the latest scheduled time. He offered a measly $25 coupon, which I had to ask for, for the 4.5 hours our family was waiting with our landlord breathing down our neck. OSSL's poor planning and trying to squeeze in a 3rd move without notifying us was horrible. OSSL moving stressed our family out in the most desperate of times and left us in the rain.. literally. I had to cancel the move and rent a U-Haul last minute. Our family moved all our belongings our self with help of a kind friend. I hired OSSL to move, store (in their facility), and move my property again. Being as though I paid them almost $1k, I trusted that my property would be safe and respected. I was content with my moving process until a lot of my furniture was missing, damaged, or destroyed. I kept constant communication with Jacob, the owner in hopes that my property would be fixed. After five weeks of no progress on fixing my damaged property, I filed an insurance claim against his insurance company, Nationwide. I was told by his insurer that my property is NOT covered by them, even though he assured me before we started this process that it would be. I'll revisit my review to update on any progress! Yes, I moved again and I went to none other than OSSL to move my belongings. Although their prices have increased since the last time I used them two years ago, the price was all inclusive (supplies etc.) and they sent a bonus staffer to help with the move. The experience was consistent: timely arrival, organized moving practice (which was critical given the amount of stairs -43- in my place), professional and respectful. This review is long overdue, but I used OSSL for a second time last night and realized that I never reviewed them. The first time I used OSSL, was in August 2017. I was nervous because their price was significantly lower than any other Yelp service. I asked for the standard two guy and a truck set up and arranged a time to meet me at my place. When I arrived I realized that there would be three young men assisting me instead of the two I was expecting. THEY DID NOT CHARGE ME FOR THE EXTRA HELP! The young men were extremely respectful, experienced, and helpful. In fact, I had to keep asking them to stop calling me ma'am. Although the move itself involved stairs at both locations, they did not damage or scratch any walls or floors. Everything was wrapped appropriately, and they took great care when dealing with fragile items. I tried to label the boxes with their corresponding location in the new place, but missed a few. The crew worked to make sure that everything was placed where it was intended to go and we finished the move in less time than I anticipated. Fast forward to February 2018, and I have now used OSSL for the second time...this time for a small move. Again, I received a price significantly lower than ALL of their competitors. When I tried to explain to other companies that it was a small move (less than 1 hour), I was quoted with prices ranging from $300-500+. Jacob came through with a much lower rate and I went with them again. OSSL arrived 15 minutes early and waited patiently for my ex-landlord to arrive and let us in to the house. While we waited, I packed my car with small items from the backyard, intending to unpack them after I was done with OSSL. After we dropped the stuff off, and the crew had already received their payment, they realized that my car needed to be unpacked. They did not hesitate to offer their assistance even though they had already been paid. I highly recommend this company to anyone looking to move. I recently hired these folks to move me from where I used to live to where I live now not even a block away they arrived at 9:00 am and did not leave until 10:00pm.I was told they were sending a 24ft truck and they sent a 14ft truck meaning they would have to make two trips of courtse they tried to charge me for their mistake and still some of my furniture is in the old house. That I had to retrieve, and they came with no dollies WTH is going on here. and the manager wanted more money cash app please. Your better off going to Home Depot and getting the guys to move you .. I had a very good experience with OSSL. The crew was on time and it appears that everything was wrapped and moved without any damage to furniture. There was slight damage to one wall, which I was able to fix. But given the narrow stairs in my townhome, I was pleased with the move out. The move into the storage unit went well also. On the most part, the placement and stacking was done well. I do have concern about the stacking of a chaise on a night stand and hope this does not cause damage to either. But overall, I was pleased with the professionalism and how quick the job was done. It was good to support a local, small business who was able to do the job well.
