We were in the Atlantic City Airport area just off the Garden State Parkway and looking for a place for a quick bite. We came upon Shore Diner and this is our first visit here. This is a large diner with a bakery! We were greeted warmly and seated immediately. The wait staff is very efficient and friendly. A basket of bread and mini pastries with butter was put on the table quickly. Wife ordered a Turkey BLT with fries and coleslaw. The Turkey BLT was huge portion and she did not finish her meal. I tried a local concoction called a Southern Shrimp. Grilled shrimp with sliced tomatoes, cucumbers, avocado, onions, Mozella cheese with grilled red pepper. The shrimp was fine and it is a very healthy dish! Looking at the pastries display case, I can image they serve good breakfast and lunch here! read more

My family and I have come to the diner since the 1st review was written so tonight's experience was very surprising to say the least. Once again I ordered the chicken, shrimp and pasta dinner. I can only blame myself, but who doesn't love shrimp, chicken and spaghetti? This time it was so BAD I had to send it back!!! In my many years on this planet I have never sent a meal back, but this was so bad I actually felt sick. The chicken tenders were under cooked and it had some fried fish instead of shrimp. (love shrimp hate fish)The pasta had more water in it then the first time. The waitress took the meal back and apologized but the manager never came to the table. That's bad to leave your staff hanging like that shame on you. If we come back and that's a big if, I'll stick to the breakfast. Ps. I still love the cinnamon rolls A little pricey but they have a lot to pick from. They have alcohol so that's good if your not a teetotaler. If you go, get the diner bread basket!!! I will never return, and advised others not to visit. Dined last weekend with my family visiting from VA. Waiter seemed annoyed to be in customer service, before we ever even received our drinks. Believed it was an "one off", but it continued during our visit. A member of my party found a piece of black plastic in her milkshake. Waiter seemed annoyed and indifferent, even though she nearly choked on the piece, believing it was a oreo cookie bit. When brought to waiter's attention, he stated they do not know where it came from and was accusatory -- the manager never came over to check on us. Order was wrong in several ways. Instead of bringing out appropriate food, waiter tried to grab food off of a plate with just a fork - no hand sanitizer, no gloves were used, the plate was not taken back - just tried to grab food of the table. Appalled by the lack of professionalism and decorum, she just kept the wrong order. Incorrect side was received, asked for me to just keep it for someone else, and I will just pay for it as a side. Waiter just took it back in the kitchen, as if it was going to be served to someone else. Asked for dessert menu and it was never received. Only stayed because the two children were hungry and tired after swimming all morning. Despite our concerns regarding the service, manager never made an appearance. Young man at the register, while checking out, was very courteous and should be a waiter instead of the older gentleman serving us. This was my first real Jersey diner experience. I was intrigued by how clean and modern it was, with just enough old time features to know it is a diner. The pastry case... Service was crisp and very well delivered. The food was hit and miss. The salad was great. The blue cheese dressing a bit sweeter than I like. The iced tea was exceptional, as was the bread. Chicken Parma was real chicken, not chopped and reformed, breaded and perfectly cooked. The cheese was tasty, melts and gooey in a good way. The pasta was yuck. Bland and overlooked. I frequent diners all across the country, and have a standard "test" of French Onion and a Reuben. Shore Diner provided an EXCEPTIONAL experience, and passed my test with flying colors. The French Onion was creamier than most, definitely due to the same chicken stock base used for the gravy - and it was out of this world savory. (Attached picture does not include the cheese toasted to perfection). My Pastrami reuben was assembled neatly, heartily, and professionally - with stellar homemade Russian dressing to boot. Aside from the food being so impressive, I have to give a shout out to my waiter ADAM! He was so helpful and professional, as well as friendly and kind. Overall, good diner fare. The over ambitious menu does lack some standards. For example, There's no bread pudding or pork souvlaki (instead they serve beef tips souvlaki). The service is quite good. Our waiter Caleb was upbeat and attentive, making a diner dinner feel more than just a pitstop. The cashier, however, whose name I didn't get, made a few random comments that didn't sit well with us. Had a late breakfast on November 10 and it was great! I am one of those people who actually like, and look for, chipped beef on toast. Not many places even make it anymore and those that do usually use ground beef in the gravy. Not so at the Shore Diner - their chipped beef is made with real dried beef and the gravy was excellent (could have used a little salt, actually). I chose to add an egg as well - delicious. The diner is a little old and faded but the service was excellent and the chipped beef was exactly what I needed on a rainy day. read more

Great local diner. Great service and great food. We stopped in for breakfast and we weren't disappointed. Menu was already switched over to lunch/dinner but our waiter gave us the breakfast menu and we were able to order from that Way more options then what was on the main menu. Let me start by saying I never write reviews, but I am blown away by a wonderful experience here. First, we came in near closing time and we were a party of 20. Everyone was so kind to us. Service was over the top wonderful, the food was great, and everything came out very quickly, including dessert and coffee. The waitress waws perfect and I wish I could remember her name. The main reason I am writing my review, though, is because I left an expensive electronic device there and didn't realize it was there. When I did realize, two weeks later, they still had it set aside for me and were kind enough to call other staff members to see where it was, and promptly returned it. I love diners. I mean I'm a Jersey Girl! However, I don't go as often as I should, which is why I said today I'd stop in to a local one for breakfast. It was busy but there was plenty of room at the counter....yet it literally took almost 10 minutes before anyone acknowledged me. When the woman finally did it was like she was in the non-stop rush and caught in a whirlwind. I ordered my food and as I was waiting a gentleman sat down next to me and ordered oatmeal. 5 minutes later she told him they were out of oatmeal and asked if he'd like cold cereal instead. He went with cornflakes and a banana. 3 minutes later she told him they didn't have cornflakes....I looked at him and asked "why doesn't she just tell you what they actually do have?". So he went with Raisin Bran...OMG they had it! But she didn't ring him milk ‍. Meanwhile my food came out and the cardinal sin of cheese in eggs happened....the placed a single slice ON TOP OF MY OMELETTE! WHHHYYYYY????? Cheese is meant to be IN eggs / omelettes when its ordered and NOT ON TOP! It's not a cheese BLANKET! UGH! The food was bland and very expensive. This review is mostly about service, though. Steve was our server. He kept physically poking our shoulders when he would speak to us. It was very uncomfortable. He walked up and just stared at us a few times and walked away. Before we could say "please give us a few minutes" he started poking us again to order. At the end, and I mean it was the end of our meal because Steve the server decided it was the end, he reached over me, put his chest in my face and grabbed only my meal and walked away. He took my plate away before I was done eating. There was no trash on the plate or any indication that I was done. He just decided I was done. A really great spot for a bite en route to the Shore. Just flew in from LA and couldn't believe the $7.50 deal for a breakfast entree, toast and breakfast potatoes. Our service was lovely from Betty and we always had fresh, hot coffee and water. I ordered the artisan grain toast (.50 extra but worth it) and the asparagus and mushroom omelette. It was such a fun place to kick-off a special weekend at the shore! Shore diner is always a guarantee whenever I come down for a visit. The food and service are always great. Today I took a friend for a post-4th of July recover meal. We shared potato skins and mozzarella sticks to start then each of us got a meal. I ordered an egg white omelette with toast and home fries and my friend ordered a buffalo chicken wrap. My food was delicious and I quickly realized I wanted a side of bacon and the waitress brought it out immediately and it was perfectly cooked. My friends wrap was a little loose so it was difficult to hold, but other than that she said it was good. We needed a place for a family gathering after my mother's burial at nearby Beth Kehillah Cemetery, and Shore Diner came through, on St Patrick's Day, no less -- It's definitely one of the better of the 525 diners here in NJ. I had the St Paddy's Day corned beef platter, over cole slaw instead of cabbage. Surprisingly, the corned beef was deli-sliced thin, but it was tasty, as it should be; and the portion size was generous. The potato leek soup was only fair, though, as I couldn't taste or see any leeks. The menu is quite extensive -- Almost too big! But, on a Sunday at 1 pm, it was packed, which means they "turn over" their ingredients. My uncle had a Monte Cristo sandwich, and he said it was delicious! The only issue was, don't book a banquet online: I booked early Saturday afternoon [This was after my friend tried my first choice, T. Wakes Smoked BBQ & Shrimp Shack, and both the brisket & chicken were awful!]; and when I called later that afternoon to confirm details, they hadn't checked their messages.
