I signed up for a beginner shoot class with my daughter. The class was too large and could not accommodate all of the kids on range at same time. This lead to very "rushed" times on the range and not a lot of actual shooting for kids. Was a complete waste of my money and time. Disappointing! read more

My first trip to Shoot Smart was To take my 18 year old and 20 year old daughters to go shooting for their first time. Shoot Smart had lots of rental guns to choose from (.22 to.45s). We chose a .22LR and got a private lane, which was great for me to teach them without too much distraction. As a retired Marine, I've shot at lots of ranges throughout my life. Shoot Smart was a nice range with a really helpful staff. I plan on using Shoot Smart renew my CCL and taking my oldest there to get hers when she turns 21. Came here with my parent the day after Christmas. We were told it would be an hour wait since we did not make a reservation online (which I will do in the future and recommend for everyone else wanting to come here). Courteous staff. Orderly Facility. Extensive rental fleet. I came to Shoot Smart because I am in the market for a handgun and wanted to try out some pieces in their rental fleet. At the last minute, I found out they were running a groupon which seems pretty common so check that out before going. They also have an online queue that saved me time. While I had an idea of what I wanted to shoot coming in, the staff were very helpful and surprised me with some great rental suggestions. They were happy to engage in friendly banter and answer questions but kept the lines moving so you weren't stuck waiting to switch out your gun. Finally, the facilities were clean and well looked after. The safety officer kept a close eye on things without talking down to people like you sometimes see at ranges. Wonderful experience. Am looking in to their classes and a membership for the new year. In retrospect, my previous review may have been a little harsh. I obviously did not have that great of an experience and I take my shooting very seriously. After more thought this is probably a fairly decent range for a shooter that isn't as serious or experienced, or for someone who just wants to drop by and squeeze off a box or two for convenience sake or just to spend a little time to de-stress for a little bit. Still definitely not among the top ranges in town but they do have all the basics there that you would need to get that shooting bug out of you're system or familiarize yourself with firearms, which I believe that more people should do before they go out and buy one and endanger themselves and the rest of us. Give them a try and make you're own decision, that's the only way you are going to know for sure anyway. Pretty much most things on the internet is pure opinion anyway. read more

I've been to a few different ranges, and this one is wonderful! They have great prices, great lanes, and awesome people! Everyone I have met there has been very nice and knowledgeable. The place is well-lit, clean, and inviting. They have a great lounge area between the front room and the shooting lanes, with comfortable chairs. This lounge also creates an extra noise barrier, so the front room is fairly quiet for talking with the staff or each other about the guns they have available for rent, which model or caliber you prefer, or anything else. One person working there deserves a special mention, and this is Kristin. She is very nice, really knows her guns, and has gone out of the way more than once to accommodate us. She even set up an area for us to clean one of our pistols while we were there! Talk about going the extra mile! I highly recommend this range, whether you are a very experienced shooter, or just starting out. They are super friendly to everyone, and always willing to help out. This was the first gun range I had ever been to. I was very intimidated but the employees here turned it into a great experience. The place is small so when it gets busy it is hard to move around in. The waiting area is nicely furnished with couches and chairs. I cant comment because have never had to wait. Utilize the websites "get in line" feature and you wont have to stand around there too long. Your first target is free as is the ear protection. The range monitor that is usually there is a little intense but I get it, its a serious job. The lanes are a nice size where both my husband and I can fit when he is trying to teach me. They have a nice list of classes which increase in difficulty as you go. I look forward to taking some of these. Great place to shoot. read more

I've taken two classes there including my CHL and basic shooting. I'm a newbie to guns. I've been there a number of times since I live close by. I don't have any complaints at all but I've never been to another range either. They do offer a senior citizen discount and a discount if you are a member of Texas Law Shield. read more

Great place to go shooting. The staff is friendly and helpful. The only problem I've encountered is there reservation system. We had checked their Q system to see the wait time for a lane and it said 4 min. When we arrived we were told that a class was taking place therefore our actual wait turned into about 35 minutes. A great modern facility. Well lit, knowledgeable staff. Most people don't know that SS has a state of the art ventilation system to clean the air quickly. Shoot Smart is a popular indoor range for a reason; it rocks! To those who complain about long wait times, don't go on weekends! Duh. I went Thurs morning at 11 and was the only one on the public lanes. They offer classes, lessons, leagues and tournaments, private lanes that accommodate fully automatic weapons. I prefer outdoor ranges, but during the summer when it's hot and you don't feel like sweating in the pants and just wanna shoot.. Well, I shoot smart at shoot smart. I only get private lanes here so I can just do whatever. Makes up for not having a 50-100 yard target. Employees are nice and professional. If you get their shoot smart card that enables you to get through without signing the waiver every time you visit. It helps expedite the checkin process, because they know you aren't somewhat of a noob. I rarely go here, but in the summers it's the best indoor range. read more

Let me start by saying I know little about guns and my wife knows even less. We wouldn't have found Shoot Smart except for a LivingSocial deal they offered that included basic instruction, gun rental, and ammo to shoot. I hadn't been to a gun range in 20 years and my wife had never touched a handgun. We bought this as a date night activity that would be something new for us to try. The facility is clean and attractive, with a pro shop in front and a comfortable lounge that looks over the shooting lanes. The staff was friendly and our instructor met us in the lounge right on time. We were taken to a classroom for a private lesson from Andrew, who was a great teacher. We then went to a private lane and the wife and I took turns shooting while Andrew offered feedback. After a few turns each Andrew left us to finish off the box of ammo that was provided. The staff was all friendly, and unlike other places I've been I wasn't at all intimidated by others because of my ignorance of firearms. On the contrary, the staff seemed genuinely excited to share their sport with newcomers and I never felt that I was being talked down to. My wife and I thought this would be a do-it-once activity for us, but we're already thinking about going back. We had a great time shooting. The facility and staff are both excellent. read more

Nice place and nice staff. Same types of shooting you can get at any other range. The staff is what i like the most but for the price it's not any better than an outdoor range. I paid almost 10 dollars more to be in a room with the same temperature as the heat that was outside. With my health condition I barely shot for 15-20 minutes and left. Nice place to Shoot but very poor service in FFL Transfer and expensive Transfer Fee! They received my Firearms for two days and never lift a finger to contact me. Went to their Store in the afternoon when I received a confirmation from FedEx that my Package was delivered 10am in the morning but been told by one of their employee that they will just contact me as soon as they find my package and not to mention there's only two cars outside in the parking lot cuz it's Tuesday and pandemic how hard is that to find my package? I called the next day and been then told can't find my package and have to fill up online the FFL Transfer without it they cant call me? It's a waste of time i was at their Store already they took my DL and CHL ID and I'm a regular customer How can no one ever told me to fill up right there and then? I came here to take a class, Handguns and Heels. The class was great, I went in having no idea on how to handle a gun to being more comfortable with fire arms. The class was all women and taught by women. We learned how to aim, load a semi-automatic gun and a little about clearing jams. I wish the part about jams had been a little more detail, but they said you would learn more about it in the second class. The shooting range was very, very cold. I could see my breath! They advertised heated and A/C ranges?? I am planning to take another class at their Grand Prairie location, which is near my house. read more

I went today using a Groupon. I had a GREAT time. I don't know much about brands but I picked up the S&W .40 Shield and had a blast shooting the zombie target with it. Beware, the dark colors of the target make it difficult to see where you hit. The people were friendly and safety oriented. If you are looking for a place to shoot and/or get firearms training, I cannot say enough good things about Shoot Smart. Every instructor I have encountered there has been so encouraging and eager to impart their knowledge and share their experience. As a woman in what has historically been a predominantly male dominated activity, I guess I expected to patronized and I can say that has not been the case. I have always felt like an equal from the first day I entered the range. Jake, Christian and Thomas are the absolute best and all the staff that has walked us through the selection of our firearms have been so great with recommendations of what to try out of their extensive rental fleet. My first time there today and I loved it! Clean, friendly, and helpful. We used the public range, which is very well run by an attentive safety officer. We brought our own but also rented- for 20.00 you can rent multiple guns. Ammo is reasonably priced as well. They have ear and eye pro you can borrow. I've been to shootsmart three times now and I've had a good experience all three times. Range staff is always friendly and the place is always clean. Biggest plus for me is the private lanes- full auto, holster draws, etc. It is hard to find somewhere to practice important skills. There is also a concrete wall between you and the next lane which can put you at ease if you are like me and worry about that kind of thing. This is especially true because there is no range officer on the normal lanes. Another plus is the 25% discount for TX Law shield members!! read more

Ammo prices are about what you would expect at a shooting range, a little higher than a retail store, but they usually have anything in stock that you would need. Rent a private lane, it is only a few dollars more, and you have much more room to shoot, and less rules to follow. You can draw from a holster, rapid fire, and shoot rifles in the private lane. Check for a groupon, they often have good deals on lane rentals, rental guns, and ammo. read more

Staff are friendly and really know their stuff. Took a private lesson and was vey pleased. It is slightly pricey, but eye and ear protection are thrown in. Weekends are just plain busy. Don't expect to roll in at 1pm and get a lane right away. Private lanes are almost unobtainable on weekends without advanced reservation. They should devise a way to let customers know what the wait for public and private lanes are. That can be frustrating if you wait for ten minutes in line to be told it's a huge wait. Other than that this is the best place around Fort Worth to shoot and get expert advice. read more

Clean and safe environment to shoot. It is a bit more expensive than most outdoor ranges but the environment is worth the price.

As a first time gun owner, I thought it was important to get some instruction. With this place so close to my house, I thought it would be a good choice and I was right. The class I signed up for didn't have enough people so they let me trade it for 90 minutes of private instruction. Scott was a great instructor, very hands on, taught me a lot in those 90 minutes - started with the basics - different parts of the gun, gun safety, proper grip and stance and then moved into the range to work on technique and even helped me sight in my pistol. Don't have any other range experiences to compare this to, but I can definitely recommend it to any novice shooters. read more

I've had the opportunity to shoot at several places in the metroplex, namely Elm Fork (outdoor range in Dallas), Bass Pro in Grapevine, Winchester Shooting Gallery in Fort Worth, and The Shooter's Club in Fort Worth. Shoot Smart by far is the best range I've experienced and enjoyed. It is clean, modern, well lit, has a great lounge with a fridge stocked with water and sodas, a large television with a Wii connected for the kids to enjoy, and a wonderful and friendly staff. The range officers are very helpful in giving safety and shooting tips, and the private lane allows drawing from a holster and shooting at tactical targets. I took my CHL course here and the instructor, Jeff, was incredibly knowledgeable with great pointers on the law, as well as many anecdotal examples of the vagaries of CHL law. I am grateful that such a wonderful business is available close to where I live. I give them my highest recommendation. A great place for novices and veterans alike in the shooting sports. read more

The range itself is OK. People there are nice and most emplyee's are good too. But dont ever buy a membership. No real benifit to having one. Always a wait in line, and forget about the suites. They are nice but plan a whole day as you will wait an untold time to get one. You would think that being a member, even a 2nd tier member as I was would get you a place in line but it don't. And never use a credit card or debit card there. I have had two false charges there. And they will auto charge your membership renewal with out notice or authorization. This has happend now for the second year and i havnt even been there in 5-6 months. Also how would you like to be at a range where people reload while facing a glass in the waiting room. rite in front of a range boss and nothing was done even after I said something. that was my last straw. bad enough to be waiting and hour and have the chance of getting shot through the glass by jack ass loading, and cocking his wepon pointed at a room full of people. Other places to go indoor and out door that are safer and les of or no wait to shoot. If they gave members and premium spot in line or somthing to that affect it would improve the place. read more
