Do not waste your money here. I did not know that a rubber chicken is actually a real thing. They serve them here disguised as fried chicken. Used to always be a staple for our family when we would come to Branson so revisited the new one here and it was well worth the stop. Breakfast buffet was filled with options and a perfect way to start the morning. The bacon was cooked perfectly and the potato breakfast casserole was a personal favorite. Went to Shoney's, the last remaining one in the country, to have bfast on a busy Sat. morning. Our group of 8 waited 20 min for a table when there was standing room only in the lobby and outside. Half our party got menu items and half buffet. My from-the-menu eggs and pancakes were warm, not hot, but tasted just right. My son loved his burger. My husband thought his 9.99 buffet was just OK, powdered eggs and such. He said it was a 6/10. Our server did a nice job serving food and refilling drinks, considering how busy it was. Terrible experience to say the least. I dined at this location (8/9) and was extremely dissatisfied at the quality of the food being served. I have eaten food served at the county jail that tasted better. And the price once I got the bill had me about run out of the door. I did witness 2 families leave, immediately after finding out the cost of the buffet. I ate from the buffet, and I truly wish I chose the parking lot instead. The fried chicken served there was absolutely inedible. I couldn't even take a bite it was so hard and awfully dry. Clearly, the only spice ingredient used is water. EVERYTHING was watered down. The mac'n cheese was served in a watered down, orange colored broth. The mashed potatoes tasted as if it was made from my grandfather's ashes. I wouldn't dare try the meatloaf. The only thing I enjoyed was the salad.... but how can you mess up a buffet salad.... you make it yourself. Those were the only true ingredients available. But, clearly, they water down the ranch dressing, it was runnier than the water slide across the street. I could see my own reflection in it. I was surprised at how well maintained the bathrooms were. I wish they would invest the effort more so to the food. Per local ordinances and store policy, customers and employees were asked to wear facial coverings at all times while not dinning at the table. I wish they would have informed the kitchen staff. At one point while I was... scanning over the options of the buffet, a kitchen employee came from the back, without a mask on and walked past me by the buffet. He was clearly chewing on something he probably grabbed from the kitchen as snack while headed to the bathrooms. He finally remembered to put on his mask after he tucked in his rather long, unmaintained beard. My server was Ashley, and she was extremely helpful and nice. I hope for their sake that they treat her well enough that she hangs around, because I saw several of the other staff members who were rather lazy and clueless. This restaurant doesn't deserve a two-star reputation. It does not, however, warrant a four-star review. The food is ok, not the best but not bad. I had some ribs from the buffet that had some bone slivers in it but the flavor was good. They have a great selection for salad ingredients. They also have a low carb selection for people on that diet. The problem, however, was the 45 minute wait for the food ordered from the menu by a few in our party. Given the kitchen struggles with orders I would recommend just getting the buffet. I also visited the restrooms and would recommend to management a bit more frequent cleanings, I'm a stickler for that sort of thing. Otherwise it's a nice place to eat. Fix those problems and I'd easily give a 4 star review. read more

Despite the description of this place by Yelp!, it's not fast food. The servers expect tips. We were in Branson for a couple of nights and recalled that we had not been to a Shoney's in years. We'd visited a few in Central Florida and remembered it was a good deal and a good time. So, we went. The place wasn't packed for breakfast, yet most of the tables were unoccupied but still dirty from the previous diners. The servers were also the hostesses and the cashiers so they were running around a lot. We were seated and opted for the $8.99 buffet. Standard fare and unlimited bacon! Next to the grits, biscuits and gravy there were also mac and cheese, chicken tenders and nacho cheese. There was a salad bar with chocolate pudding. I always wondered why pudding was on a salad bar. Someone research that and get back to me, OK? The service was good and the food was just OK. It was Shoney's. What do you expect? I was better than the $8 buffet at the Welk Resort, I'll tell you that right now! Anyway, stop in if you want. I won't know if you do or not, so I'll just remain indifferent to your choice. Visited Shoney's this past weekend (April 23) for lunch while on vacation in Branson. It was my first time eating at a Shoney's. Food was better than expected. Good service too. I got the mushroom and Swiss burger (very good and juicy) and my fiancé got an Italian entree (I think it was called the Italian Feast), and his meal came with the salad bar. We also got a chocolate and vanilla shake, which were very good! If there was a location in Oklahoma I would definitely go more often, but if I ever come back to Branson, I might just have to stop in again. read more

TL;DR Review: WHAT YEAR IS THIS!?!? I could have sworn I smelled someone smoking inside. I didn't, but it seemed like I did. Two stars are missing from this review because of one thing: Service. Our server sat by and chatted for 10 minutes with me trying to catch her eye to get more drinks. I won't call names, but I'll tell you our server at this establishment wasn't any of the ladies other reviewers are bragging on in other reviews. My wife's chicken salad was also mediocre according to her. On the other hand, my son ate free, and he LOVED their fried shrimp. He really thought he'd struck gold. My daughter ordered the mac 'n cheese, and didn't eat it. She doesn't typically eat much, so I'm not counting that against them. I, on the other hand, had the All American Burger with everything on it. Upon removing the American flag and taking my first bite, I was immediately transported, Rattatouille style, to the same restaurant in 1990, smiling at my parents who were smiling back at me, taking my first bite of a previous Shoney's All-American and loving it. The cheese so hot it had become intrinsic to the structure of the burger, and the onion and pickle having melted to it as well, as to form one huge amalgam of glorious, beautiful, greasy burger. The soft bun practically melts to your fingers. It's still the best chain burger, I think. It's not the best burger in Branson (check my other reviews), but it's damn close. Every year I visit Branson, I make sure I go to Shoney's. There food is usually is very delicious. But this time, I was very disappointed. I was mostly disappointed at their meat quality. This place is super good!! We stopped here after a morning of fishing (around 11) and there was no wait. The place was busy, but the tables are spaced out enough that it didn't feel crowded. The waitress we had was super friendly and got us refills fast. We had the breakfast/brunch Buffett which was $9.99/person. Which is a really great deal! The buffet food was delicious. There wasn't anything I didn't like and it had a good variety. I will come here again and suggest it for anyone else wanting good food in Branson! read more

The staff was friendly and very nice. We had the buffet and my daughter had a child spaghetti meal. For the price the amount of food you get is great, but it was terrible. The mashed potatoes were definitely made from a box, the meat needed to be cooked longer, the salad had been sitting too long and the spaghetti my daughter had was so runny she couldn't eat it. Ate at this Shoneys while on a Branson vacation with the family. Let me start by saying that growing up in mid-Missouri we had a Shoneys in my hometown. I always liked their breakfast buffet and reminds me of my childhood! Also, while on family vacations we usually would hit these type of breakfast buffet places. So...I was a little nostalgic and when I saw the Shoneys thought it would be a great breakfast choice, especially with our 3 year old who can sometimes be picky. My husband was weary as we're not really buffet types. This Shoneys is the only one left in Missouri as many of the others have closed many years ago. The restaurant looked like it had been recently remodeled, as it seemed brand new and was very clean inside. The breakfast buffet was a great deal and we thought the food was great. I love that they have sauteed mushrooms on their buffet. I think they're supposed to be for the eggs but I just eat them plain as I'm a big mushroom fan. Also, bonus points for the grits. Coming from a southern family grits were a staple but I rarely have them anymore. I would recommend, especially if you have kiddos. read more

Turns out all the Shoney's in Missouri have closed. This location is corporate owned and also a new-build since a tornado took out the old one. We opted for the buffet since it had some breakfast as well as some lunch items on the bar. Food was pretty good and much like I remember from the late 80s when I last frequented Shoney's on a regular basis. We ate the breakfast buffet on our last day in Branson before heading home. What can I say?? It's SHONEY'S!!!! We LOVE Shoney's!!!! We haven't been in several years because all of the ones around where we live have closed down. The one in Branson was SOOOOO good!!! Piles of Bacon and sausage and pancakes!!!! Oh and the the biscuits and white gravy YUM!!!! We will be back for the breakfast buffet next time we're in Branson!! Oh and the SWEET TEA!!!!!
