I'm not one to leave reviews but this one was warranted. Shoney's in Branson used to have such a good breakfast buffet but not anymore. The last couple of times I e been here the food wasn't as good as times past but was still decent enough to come back...until now. Half the buffet isn't even breakfast food anymore. What they did offer was subpar at best. And lukewarm. The bacon was good. And I had a blueberry muffin that was good. Fruit was tough and inedible. Eggs were clearly powdered, sausage was tough. No pancakes or waffles. Cinnamon sticks were kinda soggy and fell apart. They had a mystery meat in what I can only describe as a cheesy flavored gravy. Reminded me of something in a tv dinner. Service wasn't very good either considering we were filling our own plates. Took 15 min to get a refill on coffee after asking. No apologies given and it wasn't terribly busy. Sorry Shoneys, but you need to rethink your "better than ever" slogan. read more

This one is for my hubby..he loves Shoney's buffet (breakfast or dinner)! He only has the opportunity to indulge in Shoney's when we travel as we don't have any in our home area. While I am not usually a buffet fan, I will give kudos to Shoney for their breakfast selection. The service is only friendly and I have to admit going into a Shoney's brings back good memories from my younger days and even more good memories watching my hubby enjoy. read more

The big breakfast on the menu for $9 is plenty of food for all but the hungriest eater. The eggs and bacon and toast were cooked well - about the same thing you'd get from Denny's. The potatoes (a huge serving of them!) were not cooked enough to my liking and my companion, who opted for the country fried steak instead of bacon didn't eat all of her meat. Visited here an hour after it opened yet the bathroom was not clean from the day before and the table wobbled horribly despite the sugar packets under one leg, Even though there were very few customers there, the service was lacking. Coffee refills had to be requested twice (once for myself and again for my husband about 10 minutes later. We were asked if we wanted hot sauce with our meal but that never got delivered to the table. We both ordered the breakfast buffet. Biscuits were dry and dark- overcooked. White gravy was a chunky blob. Two options for eggs on buffet, scrambled and scrambled with bell pepper. Cheesy hash browns ran out and never replenished. Finally a pan of mushrooms took its place. Only fresh fruit was unripened (hard) cantaloupe and honeydew melon- no grapes, no fresh strawberry slices, no fresh pineapple chunks & no fresh banana slices. There were watery, I presume previously frozen strawberries but they looked dark and old. I did enjoy sausage/rice dressing, cheesy hash browns (until they were replaced with mushrooms) and scrambled eggs covered with grits & nacho cheese sauce. Not worthy of $17 plus tax. We should have left when the server complained about how hot she was. We were 3 adults 2 children. We were seated in the back of restaurant with no air-conditioning, None, no airflow. It was very hot. When we asked the waitress she made it all about how hot she is. They clearly should have seated us up front where the air was a little better. Then the kitchen employee comes and sits next to us cranks uplistening to loud music the volume on his phone. Who's running this place. Runaway restaurant in a busy Branson area, lots of competition. Food average. Server was ill-equipped to deal with customer concerns in a hot restaurant. read more

Buffet of bacon!!! I fondly remember shoney's from my childhood, so of course we had to stop in during our trip. There were fewer options than I remember, and I don't believe that was due to Covid. Food was mediocre at best, but the bacon did its best to try and make up for it! I am the only person that made a second trip up, so the overall price was too high for what we actually ate. This is always the way with buffets though. They don't charge you less if you only eat 2 eggs and a biscuit, or more if you try and eat your body weight in bacon (which pretty well describes what 2 peoples plates resembled). Service was good! Based on the price and quality I wouldn't recommend this place for breakfast. We had MUCH better breakfast at other places. read more

Shoneys - SCAM...bought my 4 year old a meal because based on the "kids menu" it says it would be free if an adult meal was purchased. We bought 3 buffets (1 adult and 2 kids) and 1 adult meal. We bought him a entree because it would be FREE. Even asked the server to confirm. Go to pay and explain that they forgot to discount the kids entree and was told the only "free meal" for the 4 year old was to get the buffet for him. We got him Mac n cheese entree ($6.99) there was Mac n cheese on the buffet ($10.99/kids). Makes no sense...menu is VERY misleading i(if true)....and the server lied to us. Although the breakfast buffet is pricey ($15), it's usually pretty good at this location. Not today, bacon was so raw it pretty much just came out of the fridge. Same with potato's, raw and way undercooked. Unlike Golden Corral they do not have any desserts, just salad items. This seriously one of the worst experiences I've had with food... It was Mother's Day and my mom loved this place as a kid so we decided to go for the nostalgia...well we got nausea instead. We were greeted kindly at the door but were told that it was only a "Mother's Day" buffet so decided on it anyways as we were pretty hungry. As we were seated we were told that the buffet is 14.99 and didn't include drinks... Are you kidding me? Great place to eat! They have an awesome morning breakfast buffet for 12.99. They have French toast, fruit,salad, chicken strips, pancakes, bacon, sausage...etc. You can't go wrong eating here. I had to sleep over night for this review. When entering the Shoney's, it was cleaned and maybe 1-3 tables currently being seated. It started off okay, we were greeted and provided menus and told our server would be right with us. Once Angela arrived, no greeting was made, simply"what can I get you to drink?" We would say thank you, no response, while our food came out hot, my sausage were a little over cooked and the pancakes seemed like maybe they were reheated. Cody came out to assist with the food delivery and was sweet, he spoke and asked how our night was. Angela kept the drinks refilled but over all just wasn't friendly. One thing I do want to point out is that the bar stayed stocked even with an hour until closing. Also, if you want to know how I knew her name it was because of my receipt. No no no! Went here for breakfast at 8:30am. They had a VERY small section for hot breakfast items... the rest of the buffet was a full salad bar. Really?! That early in the morning?! So imagine the joy I had when I went to branson this past weekend (Feb 7-8) and saw the only one in Missouri. Oh it was just like I remembered! SHONEY'S was a staple of my childhood and sadly all the ones in our area are closed. Imagine my surprise, and sheer JOY, to find one on our trip to Branson! While the restaurant has been modernized a bit, the smells and the feels brought me back to Sunday mornings with my family. The staff, especially Shawna, was amazing and the sausage gravy was ON POINT! Some surprisingly delicious new additions are the cinnamon sugar french toast sticks and the breakfast fried rice. Yum! I think this is one of the only places open for breakfast during the Winter season in Branson. I used to frequent shoney's when I was a kid but they have since disappeared from the Saint Louis area. My partner and I went here for the all you can eat breakfast and then again the next morning for breakfast to go. The buffet included things like eggs, biscuits, gravy, sausage, bacon, ham, nacho cheese, fried chicken, and the salad bar. I loved the thick sliced ham, chicken, eggs, mushrooms, and nacho cheese. The gravy and chicken noodle soup i did not care for, but I think the soup had just sat out too long. For our to go order we had a side salad and split a philly cheese steak omelet. Wow it was just perfect. I would have liked to have cheese on the side salad. I will be coming again when on vacation in the area. read more

The food was tasty, the portions were good, the waitress was friendly, helpful, and attentive, the restaurant was clean. However, when I got the bill, I about had a coronary. As a kid we ate here (not this particular one, but one that existed where I grew up) often, and I never remember my folks ever complaining about the prices. The only thing I can figure is the fact that it was Branson, and they got to price gouge the heck out of tourists, throughout the entire town, and never mind the fact that we live just up the road in Springfield. Our family of 4 ate for 75 bucks, not including the tip. I think we'll be a little more frugal in what we order upon our next visit. read more
