My cousins both had the fried catfish, which they said was delicious, I had the Famous Islamorada Fish Sandwich. Not sure what makes it Famous but it was good. Hubby was so excited to get the Ozarks Trout Almondine which he had the last time we were here but alas they overcooked it unfortunately. He was bummed. Good flavor but overdone. We were a party of six and everyone of us seem to like our food very much. Of course the menu is fish forward, however. they do offer salad, steak, chicken pork they even had a taco available. Our service was fine, but they weren't terribly crowded and our server seemed to want to move us along. I say this because we weren't even halfway through our meal and she's bringing the check and asking if we want dessert. this is a very family friendly, country feeling (all Ozark) restaurant located right off the river. I stopped and got an order to go tonight. I ordered the Islamorada Portofino which I get on a regular basis. When I got it home and opened it the portion of fish appeared to be about half of the size of what has been normal. It was also supposed to have a sauce over the top of it and that was not there. My wife is also celiac and tonight they did nor really know what she could eat. I had ordered the vegetables for her and got fries that have a gloating that contains gluten. I think White River Fish House is a great place for families to go for a nicer, casual meal. The atmosphere seems classier than super casual places like Chili's, but it's not so pretentious that you have to dress up. You can wear jeans if you wanted to. The prices are a little pricier than your typical chain restaurant, but not unreasonable, especially when the food is pretty tasty. Their mocktail margarita was delicious! An easy 5 stars from me! This was our second visit here and we were happy to be back! For an appetizer we were served the jalapeno cornbread, but i also ordered the crawfish tails. These were amazing! I did not care for the sauce they were paired with however, but they were fantastic on their own. The cornbread was good, but extremely crumbly. Hard to eat without it falling apart with each bite. Also the butter served with it was a necessity for me because without it these cornbread muffins were pretty dry. For my entree i ordered the fried catfish. This was HUGE and well worth the $19.99 IMO. I only was able to eat one fillet and the fries before i was stuffed. My wife got the large Ceaser salad and shared it with my son, and my daughter enjoyed an order of fries and the appetizers. They aren't big seafood people and I had promised them ice-cream afterwards if they agreed to come here. Service was great and the food was fast and fresh! Bottomline: The hype for White River Fish House is legit, and is a great stop if your looking for a good seafood option in the Branson Landing area. The view over the lake / river is gorgeous and the rustic wood sportsman cabin theme is a personal favorite of mine. Only change i would make is that I should have gotten the Walleye. read more

We had an amazing dinner we started off with the ultimate sampler the elk sliders were amazing lots of flavor. My favorite was the gator bites, huge portion of breaded crawfish tails and a fish spread and crackers. For our entree we each got shrimp bonitta it was an amazing cheese covered shrimp and Alfredo sauce dish. We asked for a seat with a view looking right down the lake. The staff was excellent food came out quickly. I didn't care for the jalapeno cornbread I had the skillet of cornbread without jalapenos I think last time I came and that was better. For many years, I'd say more than 10, I've always returned to this small but reliable and charming restaurant. The staff is so professional and friendly that you feel right at home. The food is very good, and they have some special dishes that you'll discover if you go. The view over Lake Taneycomo is spectacular. The ambiance is one of rugged lodge and the menu gives the impression that you'll get exotic meats and fish prepared with an awe-inspiring uniqueness that you'll be looking forward to the next time you can visit. Unfortunately, it fell flatter than a carp. I ordered the fish tacos and couldn't have been more disappointed. The chips were bordering on stale, the "salsa" was actually store-bought Pace picante sauce. The fish, was just so-so and was NOT fresh. It had the rubbery hallmark of long-frozen fish over seasoned to hide the hint of "fishy" taste. The coleslaw was just store-bought shredded cabbage and the sour cream was Daisy. Not even an attempt at making a real crema or sauce. The chimichurri sauce was the only thing bringing a pleasant flavor to this dish. For $20, they do give 3 sizable tacos, but man are they forgettable. My wife got the Trout Almadine, and once again the fish wasn't fresh and the overwhelming almond crust and almond butter was trying to cover it up. Literally. The jalapeño corn bread was certainly a box of Jiffy Honey Cornbread mixed with minced jalapeños. We all loved it, but what can I say, Jiffy makes good cornbread... Overall, we left wishing we would've tried any of the other restaurants on this lively strip of Branson commercialism...but alas, we made a blunder. Pre-tip, we spent $96 on 2 entrees and 3 kid meals. No drinks, no apps, no joy. At least the service was fast and friendly. read more

We use to love going to the White River Fish House for the Fish and chips. The last trip was so disappointing we will no return. The quantity was reduced from 3 nice pieces of fish to two pieces of fish, one was decent size the second was small and mostly breading. During a recent trip to Branson, had a pretty nice dinner with my wife. For starters, were were seated and given a nice cornbread appetizer. It was OK, but nothing terribly spectacular. We ordered the spinach and artichoke dip, which had tomatoes on it.......not terrible, but was peculiar. Finally, the main course, my wife had the mahi mahi with shrimp and sauce. Her fish was overcooked but the sauce was to her satisfaction. This time we got the same waiter as last time, Tracey, and had more problems. The smallest problem was that there were no gummy fish in the fishbowl. The rest of the issues were as follows. He never offered to refill drinks. We had to ask to refill the lemonade after it had been empty for a bit. We ordered hamburgers medium and medium rare. Neither showed up with any pink in the middle. None of the food was cold, but none of it was warm either. We ordered chicken tenders and got Chicken Alfredo. He took the Alfredo back and said he'd get the tenders for us, but the rest of us finished our meals before it came so we had him cancel the tenders. Very beautiful, rustic fishing themed restaurant right on the water. The menu is large, but overpriced. The fish dip was OK, it was made with salmon which is a little unusual and was fishy. I know I know it's fish, but it shouldn't have been that fishy tasting. I ordered the grouper and was a little disappointed with the topping. It sounded really good on the menu, but fell short and felt like it was an afterthought did not seem fresh. For the price I was looking for a more elevated dish. My dad ordered the fish and chips and said they were pretty good, but nothing special. He really enjoyed the sweet potato waffle fries, though . It was pink like salmon and we were told "it's because of the food they are fed". It was overcooked and dry. The taste was off, too. The meal included a vegetable and rice pilaf. The vegetable, which was broccoli, was so overcooked it was mushy. It should be a crime to serve it. The rice pilaf was a full cup of gummy unseasoned rice, also overcooked, and cannot rightly be called pilaf which is fluffy and flavorful. Yech! Food was good, not great. Arrived just slightly warm. Our waitress wasn't very attentive when it came to refills, etc. My husband asked for a side salad with his meal instead of the coleslaw. When his meal arrived, the slaw was on the plate - a tiny amount in a condiment cup. Apparently it's not really a "side", so a salad couldn't be substituted for it. We were expecting an upcharge for a premium side (less than $4), but instead were charged for a half salad for a whopping $9. The waitress should have explained the salad couldn't be substituted for the slaw. We thought the price of most meals was fair - we were just shocked at the cost of ordering a side salad.
