Went there 2 weeks ago on a Friday night. We made a reservation for 545 pm and good thing we did because by 615 pm, the place was packed. We ordered a vegetarian sushi roll because I'm pregnant, pork fried rice for the toddler, pad Thai and steak. We were disappointed at the service: the waitress didn't know what a virgin drink was and she seemed disinterested in the questions we were asking. We were excited to try the food after the reviews but I think the best part was the pork fried rice... very little oil and lots of flavor. Everything else was just ok. For the price of the steak , we were expecting something amazing , but that too was just ok. Overall, may go back to try a sushi roll after a few months and to grab a drink, but will not go again for dinner. read more

My family and I ate here on a Saturday nite at 6:30 and we sat right away which I was very happy about and the waitress was very good. She came over right away for our drink order. Things were progressing nicely but the food was just ok. The rice and noodle were over cooked and it just didn't have that hibachi taste and the veggies were bland. The protein was good(shrimp). Had an exquisite dinner here last night. Didn't have lunch and we ordered so much food! My favorites in no particular order: *I can't recommend the dumplings enough. Perfectly bite-sized, thin wrappers so your mouth isn't stuffed with dough, and great flavor (had both pork and the vegetarian ones). *The oysters on the half shell were incredible. The texture was silky smooth which was impressive. Very fresh. *Had diced sashimi with mango and sauce (came served in porcelain soup spoons). I actually enjoyed this more than the pure sashimi. *Egg rolls: the filler has bamboo which gives it a delightful texture&crunch. *Special sashimi: I cannot remember the name of this imported Japanese fish but it was white. Sliced thin, mango and sauce on top. Lightly barbequed flavor. A special item and very worth it! *The salt water fish tank. Good variety of fish (a lookdown, french angel, puffer, etc) and all real live coral. I love the decor of the place (dark wood, dimmed lighting, modern, swanky). Both tempura shrimp and the crispy prawns, yum. The prawns had two nice sauces. Tempura also came with battered veggies; light batter, my favorite method. Sashimi bowl for 4: Fed 6 people, very fresh. Cool presentation. Had the waiter surprise us with two specialty rolls - cannot for the life of me remember what they are but I would come back time and time again for both. Both had a chili sauce on top which I enjoyed. One of the rolls was deep fried - again, excellent batter thin-ness. Had stir fried bok choi and the string beans. If you could only choose one, get the beans (but both were good). Red bean ice cream isn't super "bean-y" but is still good. I heard from regulars that the green tea ice cream is the best so I'll have to try that next time. Had the white wine sangria which was sadly the low point of the evening as it was strongly pineapple juice flavored. The alcohol was present but had to fight with the fruit juice, bah! So many reviews here putting down the staff but everyone we had was super attentive the entire meal, even though we walked in at 8pm on a weekend. I found it strange so many reviewers were annoyed they didn't get wet hand wipes at the beginning of the meal (we did). To those reviewers: how dirty do you normally keep your hands?!? There is a lovely restroom with soap and running water too.....and you have a mouth. Just ask for wipes if it matters that much to you? Want to come back to try hibachi here. read more

My girlfriend and I have been here on many occasions now. We have tried nearly every specialty roll and loved them all. We eat sushi often and so far this is some of the best we've had! My personal favorites are the salmon rolls. I would recommend going with a reservation and make sure you are on time. Otherwise there could be a long wait especially around dinner time. read more

I can't rate the service any lower....myself and seven others ate here on a Friday night for hibachi....right out the gate I knew we would have issues when we were told the drinks were taking long because they are "very busy" but the real issue was when I indicated to the server that I had a food allergy and was told they could not accommodate me at hibachi and I would have to order off the regular menu because as the manager then told me they are currently being sued..... I ordered the filet and lobster from the regular menu which was more expensive than the hibachi but that's besides the point......I asked mine be brought when everyone else was eating because I was afraid of getting mine too early WRONG I also wasn't given soup or salad My food didn't come until everyone was done and that was with speaking to the server and the manager multiple times to again hear they were "very busy" Then another server came to the table and started asking everyone what they had ordered it's at this time I hear one of the my friends had ordered an appetizer that never came....why this server was even there I don't understand Then our regular server came with the bill to which we had to remind him about dessert wtf The manager comped a round of drinks but made no effort whatsoever to make things right as they were going wrong. My wife and I eat at Legends frequently and want to tell you that this place is top shelf! Best, fresh sushi and food in the area!!! the sushi rolls are fresh and change every week. Gourmet sushi is the best! The Lo mien is to die for, best lo mien I have ever tasted from any place around the area. Service is excellent. bartenders are very friendly and courteous, they always tend to our needs quickly. the owners are great people and are very friendly to all guests. the both are hands on and are there frequently. I'm a fan of Shoguns, nice interior, good service and food. Whether you want sushi, Chinese, Thai or HIbachi, they have it here and it's all good. The staff is great and bartenders make some good drinks and the place is big. read more

Their food is fine. Nothing special. I went on friday and when i walked into the bathroom i was astonished. There were flies and nats flying in the stalls and there were all over the walls. There were webs on the ceilings too. Also where i was sitting, which was at the back bar had multiple dead flies. This is the only time i've been here and it has looked like this. We are loyal customers for many years. Literally the only place we go for sushi and a great bar and bartenders. Tonight, we called hoping to get some take out for New Years Eve. I called at 3:00pm and began by asking what time they were open til. Before I could finish the sentence, the person answering the phone said "we are fully booked tonight." I then said "we were just interested in takeout." The response in a very annoyed tone: "maybe if you come early,but I'm not doing take out during dinner service!" Simply hung up. I get it; it's New Years Eve. Ok to say that you are not doing takeout tonight. If you don't need the business, good for you. Atmosphere is appealing. When you are seated you are offered a cleaning towel for your hands. Food was good. You get a shrimp appetizer to start followed by your meal. Portions are generous. I will start with the restaurant 4 stars. Its nice, beautiful fish tank, and we were seated right away [with reservations] Service 1 star. It was just ok, not what I was expecting. We had to continuously ask for water, drinks, the dessert menu. At a place like this that is $$$, I expected superior service, and we didn't get it. As far as the food goes, I give it 3 stars. Nothing outstanding, the menu was not really explained, and our food was not brought out at the same time. As far as the drinks, I say zero stars. Love the appetizers here, the dumplings are unique with a sweet sauce that is the best thing I've ever had. The sushi rolls here are always artistically designed and made with fresh fish. Food was good. Service was the typical jersey shore attitude. Music turned off for about an hour and we heard a lot of bad language by the servers in their station. Once they were in the kitchen , it was like hearing a Richard Pryor tape. Which is great , but not by a snotty 20 something year old girl while I'm paying premium prices for meat n white rice. I suggest drinking alcohol here, because ice teas n sodas are over $3 with no refills. It's just one of those smacks in the face when seeing the bill. I decided again today to have takeout lunch at this restaurant because I had it once and really enjoyed it. To my horror, I ate one of the shrimps that you see attached. UNCOOKED shrimp AND salmon! I figured they were in a rush and did care to notice the uncooked seafood. My husband wanted me to make a big deal, but decided against that. I did decide to post here for others....caveat emptor!!! Waitress said no but we can do a child portion of hibachi steak or chicken Great!! Ate here tonight with my family for my husband's birthday, and it was ahhhhhhmazing!! Jason See was our chef and he did such an awesome job! We had two young kids in our party, one of which was a little apprehensive that there were going to be flames, and Jason carefully made sure they didn't bother her one bit. I've been here many times for work dinners (during the week) and I should have paid more attention to the reviews about the service. It could not have been worse. Went Saturday Feb 2 for my wife's birthday dinner and it was atrocious. Waitress was overwhelmed. She got our orders wrong, never stopped by to check on our meals, we never got a chance to order a glass of wine, etc. I think they had 2 waitresses for the entire dining room - on a slamming Saturday night. Won't return, which is a shame because the food is usually very good (been there 2 other times so far in 2019). My wife literally left in tears. I've tried many of the entrees on the menu, and they are all excellent from taste to presentation. To shed light on one of the review that complained about the soup being bland, I noticed similarly that a lot of my non-Asian friends don't realize traditional Chinese soups are mainly broth. You are suppose to taste the essence of the ingredients captured in the broth and this place does it perfectly with their high quality ingredients. Don't confuse a good soup as bland just because it's not over garnished. Their sushi are so fresh and the peking duck done right with perfectly steamed buns. Also, must try sushi nachos. So yummy!!! I can't stop raving about the food and the decor and ambiance are just as top notch. Seriously, even many of the fancy asian fusion places in NYC can't compete with Shogun Legends. read more

Went here last night for a 7pm reservation. It was busy and loud in there but that's nothing I wouldn't expect. The restaurant is beautiful. I started with the beef Nigamaki (not sure if that's the right spelling) and the tartare trio. Both were fantastic. My 2 year old had the chicken satay and ate every bit of it. For an entree I went with the sea bass and lobster dumplings. Sadly this did nothing for me as it was flavorless. The manager explained that their customers enjoy the pure taste of the fish which is understandable but that's not what I was expecting. Our waitress was happy to exchange it so I went with a beef dish that was absolutely delicious. Overall I would absolutely go back however, I would much rather go to Buddhakan in Philadelphia. To start off I've been to many sushi/hibachi places in the area, comparatively, it's pretty generic with their quality..... as for the menu selection, very similar to Kanji in Tinton falls (still my favorite), their drinks were awesome and their special rolls were creative. I had the best (yes the best) combinations of flavors in a sushi roll, although it was not authentic Japanese (what is lately) but it was a shrimp tempura and cucumber roll, with spicy crab, cilantro and caviar on top... the most amazing combination of flavors I've had. I also had a sushi entree which included a selection of sushi and a spicy tuna roll. Sushi was cut standard, quality was pretty even with sumo in town (but higher priced). The salad was great, mixed greens, fresh veggies (as opposed to a dull ice burg lettuce salad that is standard at most establishments), dressing was fresh, but a little watery/bland (nice effort), and the salad should be seasoned if going for their image (I'll explain later). The soup was a hot and sour soup, was nice, thick, hearty, could go down a notch on the sesame to taste the ingredients. My friend got veggie tempura, and a veggie roll, both satisfactory, the veggie roll was filling, large, and very creative (walnuts were the last thing we expected!). I have not tried their hibachi, although my friend has and says it's very good! He did comment on the presentation downstairs. The presentation was almost impeccable (cut of the white fish was not the highest in quality, looked as if it were near a vessel) besides that we started with a warm moist towel, chopsticks were real (not the throw away type) and had a gorgeous design, table was set with a formal tablecloth, were were provided with water, and service was immediate.... when i mean immediate, i mean the best I've ever had. I wish i got our servers name, because it was honestly the best service I've ever had at any restaurant I've been to in NYC or NJ. Our server filled our drinks, cleaned plates immediately, and we did not feel rushed at all. The only thing I was turned off about was the nasty look I received about having sandals on.... it was 80 degrees, sunny, I had a nice outfit on, and IT WAS EMPTY and lunch time... Dinner, I would understand, but from my understanding others have had a problem here. **Notes** Didn't have a wait when i went, so can't comment on busy times. Went for a nice lunch with a friend, quality was average to above average FOR THE AREA. Service.... the best(kanji you lose on this, sorry always compare to them cause they are the best around this region). Their drinks were great, had the lcyhee martini, friend had the rum drink... both awesome, strong and big enough. Creative menu, i hear they have very good hibachi. The bar is very nice, i would come here if in the area for drinks and picking at sushi. Bottom line- Better then most in the area. Very expensive, their image that they're going for isn't going to work, sorry. Unless you live on the west coast, or get better quality fish, you can't satisfy me with your price. Atmosphere was great, service was great, food creative, i would definitely come back.... 4 stars, don't' feel completely comfortable recommending for a full dinner with the price and not trying more of their selection, and their hibachi. Recommendation would be for drinks and sushi at the bar, or a nice lunch. I would honestly give 3 stars if it were not for their service, creative menu and the atmosphere....
