Legends Duo - Terrible and flavorless. Overcooked and chewy
Adeline K.

Heard good things about this place from many people and decided to order for the first time. I got the Legends Duo for $36 - filet mignon and scallops in brown butter sauce with vegetables. I asked for the filet to be cooked medium rare. It came out medium well and chewy. Did not taste good at all. The scallops had absolutely NO flavor. I've never had such disappointing scallops in my life. My hospital cafeteria makes better ones. Staff was nice when I picked up my food. That was the only good part of this experience. You're better off at your local strip mall Chinese spot. At least it's not a rip off.

The rolls never disappoint! But skip the kimchi...colorless and unpalatable. Shoutout to Leny who was an attentive and amazing server!

Fresh Devine pairing with chilled sake or Chardonnay; very good service with comfortable ambiance. Everything and everybody are in harmony:)

Calamari- yum

We celebrated our 25th anniversary there last night and we have been going for a few years now, minus the covid period. Last night, we ordered the lobster dumplings and calamari for appetizers. We had the lava roll and two thumbs up roll. Very yummy. And we were not done yet ! We ordered the crispy fried fish, beef fried rice, and volcano steak. Aside from the lobster dumplings, we enjoyed everything. Lobster dumplings were bland. Will be back as this is a nice upgraded restaurant that is good for dinner with your honey or family.

The employees are terrific, great personalities and you can tell they love working there. Modern setup with an open kitchen and sushi bar. The food is excellent, portion sizes are on the larger side. Fantastic opportunity to over order and share with a group. My favorite items included: the 20oz lobster tail special with Walnut Shrimp. Fried perfectly and sauced nicely. The pork chops are a can't miss, fork tender! The Bacon Egg and Cheese fried rice was as good as I thought it would be, just get it. The sushi dinner plate was tremendous, the fish is sliced perfectly and extremely fresh. I will come back for another visit before summer.

This new venue is definitely smaller than the original, but maintains a clean minimalist aesthetic. The server could not have been more helpful or accommodating and had a very intimate knowledge of seemingly every item on the menu, including the extensive list of specials. We began with dumplings, calamari salad, and some tuna sushi rolls. The dumplings were perfectly satisfactory and hit the spot just right for when you're craving a dumpling. Dipping sauce complimented them well. Additionally, the sushi rolls had incredibly flavorful and fresh tasting tuna. Lastly, the calamari salad, being the most unique of the bunch, was definitely the star. It had a mild flavor, that was brought out and paired perfectly with their wonderful in-house sauce. My entree was the xo fat noodles and they were nothing short of fantastic. It had wonderful flavor, a good assortment of veggies and proteins, in a very generously sized portion. This may be my new go-to, as I will certainly be making a return visit.

Moving onto the actual service, waitress took the alcohol order at the same time as the food order; Boyfriend who used to work in high end food service said it's usually a bad sign. Was proven wrong, thankfully. Ordered the Yuzu drop, thought it would be more punchy but it was on point for yuzu. He got the eel dragon and firecracker rolls, I chose the bluefin tuna and salmon nigiri (with one unagi/eel, which I hated) We absolutely devoured our food, which is why there are no pictures attached to the review. The salmon was so buttery smooth, and the tuna was so meaty and flavorful, I ordered an extra helping as sashimi! IT IS THAT GOOD! Besides the banging baby at the other table (not the restaurant's fault) it was one of the best walk-in experiences I've had to date! Will definitely recommend and repeat visit!

The sushi is fresh and tasty, we enjoyed the seared scallop appetizer. My sushi (Tiger roll) was magnificent. The Yuzu lobster roll could have had a bit less rice in the roll but was otherwise very enjoyable. The combination of fish in this roll paired very nicely together. Taka has a vast menu with many options from appetizers to specialty sushi options. They provide alcoholic and non alcoholic mocktails for those of us not interested in consuming liquor.....the mocktails are fantastic. The only thing that made me rate 4 instead of 5 stars was the staff needs a bit of work on serving. We ordered an appetizer and were also given two additional small plates since we were sharing this item. When we were done with the appetizer our specialty sushi plates were bought out and the same server left the three empty plates from the appetizers on the table instead of removing them. Dessert was absolutely decadent and moist (I omitted the whipped cream since I don't like it) but the shortcake was perfect without it. I look forward to returning to Taka and trying more items on the menu.

Checked out Spring Lake Seafood this weekend with a group of 6. Our reservations were for 5:30 and…read morethey seated us as soon as we arrived. We were seated in the covered front deck area which was separated from the interior restaurant. It was an 80-85° day but the temperature in the space was relatively comfortable. We had grabbed a few bottles of white from the conveniently located liquor store across the street. I love me a good BYOB establishment. We started with the tuna pizza, an order of oysters, garlic shrimp, beet salad, and the Bibb salad. (Just a side note, they want you to place your starters and entrees at the same time). Everything came out in a reasonable time and was all very good. The Tuna pizza was not at all what I was envisioning but was a pleasant surprise both presentation and taste wise. The shrimp were interesting because they looked like they would be super flavorful, but just felt kind of flat. Both of the salads were delicious, I really enjoyed the Bibb and would highly recommend it. I had the Bluefin and it was really good, the portion size was fair and the fish was extremely fresh. It was far from the best bluefin I've had, but would recommend it nonetheless. Everyone else enjoyed their entrees as well and overall I would say we had a great time. It was a bit pricey, but it's Spring Lake so that was baked into the cake. Will visit again, and this time I'll remember to order the lobster roll.

They use olive oil over seed oils for example, and ingredients that actually make you feel good after you eat. We started off with the raw bar--fresh clams that tasted like the ocean in the best way. Then we had to try the famous tuna pizza, and wow! I get the hype now. It was the perfect combo of crunchy, creamy, and salty and I'll be dreaming about it for days to come! The garlic shrimp was delicious and had a savory juice, something you'd find in a Spanish tapas restaurant which was perfect for bread dipping. The spaghetti with clams was a classic but elevated dish and came with a generous portion. We tried the ahi tuna lo mein from their specials and that was a fun addition. It doesn't taste greasy so don't expect takeout quality. Their sushi was seriously impressive and some of the best I've had in NJ. We got the kamikaze roll, ninja roll, and chef's nigiri. Totally fresh and easy to eat. Even the mocktails were next level. We tried the Heat Wave and Chicha Sour. Both so unique and had us feeling refreshed after, not sluggish. Of course we ended with dessert. The banana bread pudding made in-house was a huge treat. So delectable and moist. The lemon sorbet was a great way to cleanse our palate and was very refreshing. This place is where high-quality meets creative! Even the ambiance reflects their sustainable beliefs. They have a beautiful coastal inspired design in a minimalist way, using lots of natural textures in the designs. The service was fantastic and attentive. I will be recommending this to all my family and friends!
