I came for a visit with some friends on a Wednesday night before a holiday. It was bring your own vinyl night, and a few regulars were spinning some vintage and newer tunes. This has the feel of a small town bar but they are a brewery as well. We were greeted by a local pup that searched out everyone for treats. There is a large selection of house made beer and some craft cocktails as well. It took us awhile to decide what to order, the seleciton is quite large. I was in the mood for a cocktail, so I chose a Kentucky Mule, it was crisp and tangy. Others in my group picked their beers and we had a couple rounds while enjoying the music and catching up with each other. The bartender was very nice and gave us some samples to help decide which drinks to get, she was very nice. It was a great evening spent hanging out before we went and relaxed in the hot springs.
First time here. Huge outdoor patio with covered patio tables, sitting upon a hill with a view of the growing area. Lots of parking. Shares the parking lot with Sassafras Eclectic food joint... a must try. The Shoe Tree Brewing has a large bar facing the brewing tanks. There are several tables with board games and several smaller tables for more privacy. The board shows all that is on tap for a self order. The bar tender was welcoming with knowledge of the brewery and its beers. Service was quick and friendly. There is a refrigerator section full of choices to take home. No food is served. This was a great start to our evening . Will be back when the weather encourages to sit in the sun
I've been coming to Shoe Tree off and on for a while now, and I still get excited every time I walk in. It all started when I discovered their Choco Taco beer (yes, it's as good as it sounds). It's not always available, so I swing by every so often just to check if they've brewed more. Most of the time I get lucky and score a few ice-cold cans -- best feeling ever. They've got a killer variety on their board. Ash Canyon Amber is smooth with a little caramel toastiness, Shoehorn Double IPA packs a big hoppy punch, and Brunswick Blonde is crisp, clean, and way too easy to drink. I'm also eyeing the Cherry Godmother Berlinerweisse next, sounds like cherry pie met summer in a glass. The bartenders are awesome, always friendly, funny, and quick with a recommendation (or a sample) before you even ask. The vibe's always great -- laid-back, dog-friendly, and just full of good energy. They've also got a big private room you can rent for parties or work gatherings. We had a company event there and it was perfect, plenty of space, plenty of beer, and everyone left happy. Bottom line: Shoe Tree is one of the best breweries in Nevada. Great people, creative beers, and a tap list that keeps me coming back "just to check."
Cute little spot tucked into the area surrounding Carson hot springs. Visited on a cool, sunny afternoon to a fairly busy bar. They have outdoor seating along with space inside to enjoy both tap and canned beverages. They offer homemade hummus and chips for anyone interested and there's a neat little Nintendo 64 to play in the corner. The staff are quick to help and everything tasted great!
Quality/Quantity - Tasted both the Ash Canyon Red and Lahontan Brown Ale. Brown wins! - So much more flavor, hops, etc. Also available are to-go cans; see pictures. Atmosphere - Small indoor space, but plenty of outdoor space. See pictures. Stage for entertainment. Outdoor games, although they are fairly worn but it still worked. They also have outdoor taps/a bar. But it was too slow of a day today to use. They had indoor board games also, so if my daughter wants to join me next time, we can check it out. Plenty of shared parking. Open 7 days a week from noon to 9pm. Events; see their website or my pictures. I also like the fact that we can bring our own food, maybe next time. Dog friendly. Family friendly. I think they also have a "rec room;" but again, it was too slow today and I believe it was not being used. Service - Counter service. Great, friendly, and welcoming. Offered me samples, did not even have to ask. Too bad I only had time for one beer... Chore day today and meeting our friends for an early dinner at Zozo's in Reno; see other Yelp reviews. Membership available; see picture or their website. Price - $7.30 + tip. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 2017 at this location and since 2021 at your Minden location.
Shoetree recently won several Great American Beer Festival awards. We visit every Friday and trying their new stuff is always the highlight of the week. Beth is still the best bartender in town and goes above and beyond for our group which includes several children. They keep making improvements to the place and it's looking great inside and out. I've also recently gotten involved in the local Homebrew community and love that Shoetree supports local homebrewers and partners with the local club. Proud to call Shoetree my "home" brewery.
I have had shoe tree a couple of times at events or when people have shared a crowler with me but this was our first time in, it was super! When I had it previously it didn't excite me but this time was different, noteworthy. Snowing softly outside, this was a cozy and comfortable respite from the weather. I got to try their grape sour, cherry sour and sherbet sour and all three of them were delightful! I especially liked the sherbet sour but honestly all of them made my mouth pucker in a fun and exciting way. The bartender was very fast and efficient as well as helpful, since we came in with our Nevada Craft Beverage Passports which I know adds one more level of complication. We will absolutely be coming back (possibly after a dip in the springs!) and look forward to what comes next from this great local spot!
Love this place. Very comfortable and always busy with locals. Great place to meet and chat over some delicious locally brewed beers. Occasionally they have some live music/singing. The last time I stopped by they had a very nice guitarist who also played harmonica. Give this warm and cozy place to chance and enjoy all that it has to offer.
The vibe here is great! Clearly full of regulars and everyone including the bartender was super friendly and inclusive. The beers were some of the best we have had this week.
This is a nice small bar/brewery that always has a nice selection! They brew a variety of beers from stouts to cream ales to sours. They also have root beer and lemonade, that are both made in house. They do not serve food, but have small snacks available. The bartenders are always friendly and knowledgeable. My recent favorite was the Raspberry Marshmallow sour. Sours are my favorite and not every brewery has them, so I love that Shoe Tree always has a rotating selection of sours. Highly recommend checking them out if you are in the area.
Great atmosphere and beautiful view of the Sierras. Very friendly and attentive staff. I enjoyed the outdoors seating!
10/21/2022: Correction! Whoa~Shoe Tree Brewing was a two-car garage, not a house BUT, next door appears as a house?! Anyway, last visit-10/19/2022, I received a sample of the Shoe Horn Double IPA, i.e., 9.2% alcohol; however, the IPA tasted acidically bitter so, I decided receiving a sip of the "Eddie" which was 9.0% alcohol sans .2%-no big deal. Flabbergasted: I noted Eddie was written as an Imperial Red on the chalkboard on 10/21/2022; however, the photo I took on Wednesday, 10/19/2022 didn't have "Eddie" listed . . . Furthermore, to my utter surprise~oh my, my, my olfactory was reeling: Eddie is so unadulteratedly smooth, no back bite; I immediately ordered filling my Cloverdale, stainless steel growler with Eddie! Geez~From ALL THE GROWLERS I have filled for DECADES, Eddie is KING OF ALL CRAFTED BREWERY BEERS!!!!

Great beer and service. Very friendly local environment. I ordered from the neighboring Sassafras next door and had an amazing Ahi BLT. Order the sweet potatoes chips!!! Would definitely recommend and will be back. read more
We ate at Sassafras next door and decided to come over to Shoe Tree Brewing for a few beers after dinner. We have eaten at sassafras before and commented that we needed to go to Shoe Tree Brewing but before this have yet to visit. We were impressed - the interior was decorated cute and it was comfortable. Shaun was helpful in explaining the options and my wife was happy to learn they make their own root beer. I also liked the fact that they offer both a double and triple IPA. They have board games and even old school video games! Their swag is nice as well and reasonably priced - cool logo too. I even had a couple of growlers filled to take with me to enjoy later. Great experience - we will be back! read more

This Brewery tucked behind Carson City Hot Springs is a great place to visit. Varied seating inside with bar seating, table seating and high top tables. Great beer. You can sample anything before buying one of the varied sizes. I love the smaller sizes so I can try different beers in a visit. Of course you can buy pint and growler refills. Mocha Porter was delicious. I like their Amber Ale and Blonde. Sour choices and Shandy available plus IPA's and a really good New England Style IPA. No food served. Check this place out for good beer and great bartenders. read more

Only had time to taste to two tonight. The mocha porter is a perfect winter warmer! Wish i could have closed down the bar with this one! Very happy to see this place packed on a Wednesday, last time i was here was a Saturday night and was a little less then half full. My second imbibe was the Stoutacus. Boy is it! At 11.6%, it is not a shy beer (glad I only ordered an 8 oz!). Very complex in flavor, coffee forward with a subtle chocolate on the back end. Can't neglect the bar maven, quick with a smile and super pleasant and cool under preasure with a room full of happy beer drinkers. Cheers to Shoe Tree! read more

I tried a beer at Motts tavern and HAD to seek it out. Coco Burrito porter. So amazingly chocolatey and scrumptious I googled. Shoe tree brewery! 45 minutes away from the Y in s Lake Tahoe and well worth the drive. We ate next door and then came over for beers. Super relaxed fun atmosphere. Great beer choices. Took a handful to take back home as well. read more
Stoked! It's rare I go to a brewery and find a place that I'm baffled as to what to try. So many delicious sounding choices are available. I decided on a sampler Wicked shifty Roof beer stout Sherbet Herbert Atomic bank vault Lyme-aid gose All of which I loved. Now the question is how many can I buy to take back to nor cal. Hehehehe Stop by it's worth it! read more

Great location tucked away from Carson's main strip next to Carson Hot Springs and Sassafras. They have a great variety of affordable beers on tap that caters to all beer lovers. I really liked the abundance of outdoor seating with string lights and heaters. It was a clean and relaxing environment to continue our night after stopping by the hot springs. read more

Great little brewery off the beaten path. It is clean, there is a great variety of board and video games, and the beer is delicious! There are also non-alcoholic options for those that feel like hanging out, but not necessarily wanting to drink. Try the root beer! Shaun, is a great bartender. Friendly and knowledgeable of the product he is serving. Kids are allowed! A great thing they do is donate to different local charities. For example, if you go in now and try the Zoey Romona proceeds go to helping with this little girls medical bills. So go and try and have fun! read more

Awesome! Most my reviews seem to focus around beer I've noticed. This is a great place to go. Lots of beer to choose from and you can order a to go order at Sassafras next door. I did notice a sign that said no dogs allowed. read more
Great Beer, Great staff! This place is always a great stop if you are in Carson. Right off the freeway. They are know for their sour beers, I am not a sour fan so I can not confirm. They do have some great dark beers and IPAs! My personal favorite is the root beer stout and the Atomic Bank Vault IPA. They really hit the mark on the flavoring of the beers. I am always impressed by the variety of the beer, they have something for everyone. You can bring in food, or order from Sassafras right next door and they will deliver it to you, and the food is great. Stop by and have a pint sometime, you will not be disappointed. read more
May 13, 2018 Sunday - 3 PM for a drink 2 adults Atmosphere - 5 stars Drink - 4 stars Service - 5 stars Background - We are planning a long road trip with our fur babies. Well their longest trip is to the vet so we need to get some road time before the 8 hour road trip. So let's go to Carson and have one beer and a growler fill. Atmosphere - Rustic. Little bonsai trees add a great little green visual trees which make for great picture taking. They have lots of chalk boards, and their artist does a great job. The place is dog friendly but we stayed outside at one of their picnic tables. Our dogs enjoyed watching people coming and going. Drink - I had a pint of Grapefruit Pale Ale. They had me at grapefruit. Just pairs well with Pale Ales. I also brought a growler to take their Atomic Bank Vault a double IPA. Service - My wife went back in after emptying the dog bowl as the water was dirty. They told her that we could bring them inside. I wash my growlers really well, I don't want funk in them when I take them to get filled again. Well the staff washed my growler again and used sanitizer on it. Future - Yes, I can not get here enough. They make some great beers. read more

Saw this place being built a year or so back and always wanted to try it but just never had a reason to stick around in Carson for beer. This changed this past week when I decided to stick around and grab a couple of beers with a few colleagues. The beers this place offered were good. I wish they offered more of a wheat beer but even without that their options were solid. It's a nice place to meet up with some friends and the outside seating only makes it that much better. Service was also excellent and my wife was happy that they make a beer drink with ice for those who are not avid beer drinkers. Will be back next time in the mood for a beer in Carson. read more

Great place, one of my favorite breweries. Very eclectic pours and sure to have something for everyone. Lovely staff. read more
If you LOVE beer, this is the place for you. I don't like beer but they did have a hard seltzer that was ok. The laid back atmosphere lends to a friendly gathering! Oh and I need to mention that they have Nintendo 64! Staff seemed a bit overwhelmed as it looks like only one person working on a Saturday afternoon. Prices are average. I could see coming here for a beer then hitting the hotsprings next door! read more
I've gone back and forth on how to review Shoe Tree. I really want to give it a higher rating, but I just don't think it's there yet. They are a little out of the way, but since I got off work and stopped in here before heading back home to Reno, the location was basically on the way for me. There's plenty of parking, which they share with Sassafras. (Speaking of Sassafras... they offer a slimmed down version of their menu that they will deliver to Shoe Tree). There are a couple of tables outside, so you can enjoy the weather (once it finally gets to be nice). Inside is kind of industrial but clean and there is plenty of seating at the bar, at tables, or at the high top along the windows which provide cool views of the mountain. Ooh, and they have purse hooks along the bar - a small detail that is very much appreciated. They offer flights in sets of 4 or 8. They had 10 beers on tap when we visited but it was easy to rule out trying the sour (none of us really care for sours) and the double IPA (I try to stay away from anything too hoppy). Each tap is labeled with a colored bottle cap which then corresponds to a colored bottle cap on your flight - very cool way of keeping track of which beer you're tasting. Now, onto the beers. Unfortunately there just weren't any that I loved. I felt like the coffee stout was overly coffee-y. The root beer stout was just kind of weird; it smelled like root beer but just kind of boring in taste. I liked the two honey wheat beers the best and we did end up ordering a pint of the American Honey Wheat after finishing our flight. But even still, it's not something that I'd rave about and not something I'd go out of my way to get. I hope that they take some time to refine their beers because I do feel like they need some work. I want this place to succeed because Carson needs something like this. I'll have to check back in a while to see if they have improved. read more

I was spending the day touring around Lake Tahoe and drinking at random breweries. This was the last and one I was really looking forward to. A fellow Yelper had posted up the options they had and I had to go taste a few. I couldn't decide, so I went for a 4 option sampler. My friend got a Rootbeer Stout and the wifey got a rootbeer (designated driver and non-drinker! Plus she loves Root beer). In my 4 option sampler I went for Vanilla Cream Ale, Cream Ale, Rootbeer stour and the coffee stout. Things learned - 1. I don't like cream ales. Duly noted. 2. I love coffee stouts. I wish I had purchased some of their cold brew because the flavor of the coffee in the stout was spectacular. 3. The vibe here is cool. It was SUPER loud when we arrived but after an hour or so it mellowed a bit and made conversation easier. On each of the tables is a different shoe tree. One wall is covered in chalkboard paint and has random shoes drawn on it. Very cute! 4. Everything about this place is done well. Great tables and bar area to hang out and chat. The samplers are done with bottle caps magnetized to the wood sampler box. On the wall (in several places) are lists of the beers. Next to it is a graphic of a different color bottle cap. The bottle cap on the wall graphic matches the bottle cap magnetized to the sample box. Easy way to remember which brews are which. This is a huge help when you order a sampler, get to talking and try to remember which one you loved the most. Even if you don't drink beer come down and grab a root beer or cold brew coffee. read more

Came here to hang out with some friends. The Hard Seltzer is good, I'm not much of a beer fan but it was pretty good. It's kind of small, but can tell the locals love it here. There is a nice patio area for when the weather is nice and it's not too windy. read more

This is mine and my boyfriends FAVORITE brewing Company. He is a diehard sour beer fan and shoe tree does nothing but deliver incredible local beer. My personal favorite, is the Peach Perzikboom (a white and yellow peach Belgian Wit). I have two cans of it left in my fridge from quarantine, and I am savoring it. As for my boyfriend, it's going to be Sherbert Herbert all the way. I cannot explain to you how much he loves this sour. I love that shoe tree has a story to go along with each one of their beers, either benefiting a family and their medical bills, being brewed for a wedding, or raising money for a walkable and bike-able Carson City. Long story short, if you are in Carson and you are looking for a refreshing brew, this is ABSOLUTELY the place you need to stop. Cheers, Shoetree! (P.S. Their patio is dog friendly, my pup loves coming here!) read more
