One of the best Mediterranean restaurants Augusta has to offer. This Turkish restaurant has a wide variety of grilled options to choose from starting from your classic chicken kebobs, gyros, to rib eye steak kebobs. Their platter option comes with rice and pita along with a small container of sauce. Their meats are about 7oz per kebob, so the $17.50 chicken Kebob is a single kebob with a hefty portion, but not a cheap cost. They are also flexible on substituting one kebob for another, especially if you get the mixed platter, but there is a surcharge. The meats are grilled freshly on the spot and very moist. The rice isn't dry and the balance of everything comes together well. Food isn't greasy or heavy, especially if you're cautious on getting the cleaner options like chicken kebob and rice. Shishkebab always seem to have some special to take advantage of. For example, their Father's Day special is a 4 meat mixed fajitas for $25. The interior design is quite unique with a small shop area on the side with Turkish chocolates and desserts for sale. Most of the restaurant looks like any normal restaurant with booths and tables, but another corner has been furnished for more of a traditional Turkish look. The furnishing makes it look like a hookah lounge; looks quite relaxing to dine sitting there. They also have unique Turkish weapons and dolls furnished along the walls giving this place a unique authentic vibe. Overall, the food is not heavy and pretty healthy if you get basic stuff like chicken & rice and not go too heavy on the sauces/sides. I really enjoyed eating their food and certainly will be back. Highly recommend this place as they are definitely one of the best Mediterranean food restaurants in Augusta.

Shishkebab's on Washington Road and North Belair Augusta, GA. Food: I personally enjoy Turkish food. Service: Service is always friendly a bit of language Barrier nevertheless the staff know enough to get the job done. Ambiance: You have got to love the traditional floor seating and accommodating tables how cool!

We were craving a gyro and Shishkebab Restaurant claims to have the best in town! The restaurant is conveniently located and has ample seating to include traditional middle eastern floor seating. The good. There was no wait and I only waited about 5 minutes for my togo order. The gyro was standard size and the lamb was well seasoned. The tzatziki sauce was excellent. Their baklava is walnut which isn't my favorite but it was decent if you have a sweets craving. The bad. I would have liked a little more meat on the sandwich. I would also have liked the vinegar based dressing on the side for the salad as it spilled everywhere on the ride home. The ugly. It was a good meal and hit the spot. I will definitely be back to try some of their other dishes as I love Turkish/middle eastern food. 4 out 5 stars.

Gyro platter and the vegetable skewer

Great service amazing food great ambience definitely would come back again. The tzatziki sauce is not what I thought but overall amazing place.

The food was delicious!! We tried the feta rolls and the gyro wrap, and they were both incredible. The server was very kind & helpful when ordering. We will definitely be back!

2. Hummus

My husband and I need a quick lunch while running errands and have been meaning to give Shishkebab a try for a while. We were both very happy with the choice. We were greeted immediately as we came in the door and informed we could choose where we would like to sit. We opted for a booth today but will definitely try out the traditional floor/cushion seating at a future visit because we will definitely be back. We ordered the feta rolls and hummus appetizers. The feta rolls were so good that they never had a chance of getting photographed. They were light and crisp while still having a substantial creamy cheese filling. The hummus on the other hand was underwhelming, it was served with delightful soft fluffy pita and looked fantastic when it came out. The color immediately led us both to believe it was perhaps a roasted pepper flavor but somehow it was the least flavorful hummus I've had in a while. Don't get me wrong, it's not bad and as you can see we still ate most of it. The texture was perfectly velvety and creamy, it was just boring. Not garlic, no herbs, no nuttiness; just chickpea flavor plain hummus (which admittedly it is sold as). For us we wouldn't order it again, not because it's bad, but because the disconnect between the appearance and actual flavor was a let down with each bite. Enough about the hummus. We both ordered the lunch special gyro wraps. I got mine with the baklava. My husband opted for the rice. I would say that their advertisement of "best gyro in town" is accurate. The pita is soft fluffy perfection that is thick enough to handle the juicy meat and veggies without falling apart. The meat was tender and full of flavor, the crisp lettuce and pickled/marinated vegetables was a refreshing contrast and the tzatziki sauce was perfect. My husband did note that he missed having fresh tomato on his, for me the cabbage and onion provided to much moisture and freshness that I didn't even notice the lack until he mentioned it. His rice was fluffy, buttery with just a hint of nuttiness. A good white rice. My baklava was fantastic. The flaky crunch with the sweet almost creamy walnut filling was the perfect finish to my meal. Our server was attentive throughout the entire meal refilling our drinks and checking in on us. We are excited to come back and try the grape leaves and other menu items.

Fantastic service. The food was really good. I had the gyro wrap with salad. I tried some falafel and chicken skewer. I was all delicious. Took the baklava and baklava cheesecake to go. The cheesecake was nice. The baklava was a little sweet.

15. Gyro Kebab (rice, vegetable, pita bread, and tzatziki sauce)
PJ M.

The Hummus and Gyro Kebab was delicious! I even asked to make the Kebab spicy and they added several red flakes on the kebab. All the components on the plate really worked well with each other. The service was very tentative because we were the first customer there. The ambiance felt like I was actually in Turkey. They had a traditional Turkish floor area and modern style tables for guests. The food was delicious and filling. Definitely coming back to this location again.

There is very little chance of you leaving this place hungry. I've found the service and staff to be fantastic. Really above and beyond in terms of checking on you and making sure you have everything you need. They have lunch specials, which are great. There is also a small bar section where you can sit and get a beer. They don't appear to have a large selection of beer. And that's fine, it's just nice to have it as an option. And then there are some small, particular details that I appreciate. I tend to drink water when I go out to eat and I love that they have big water cups. I'll continue to dip in for food and suggest you check them out as well.

The ingredients were fresh and the bowl was pretty flavorful it was just missing something for me. I asked for extra Granch Dressing but I'm thinking I should have tried another dressing or sauce! I'm thinking maybe the Tzatziki or Garlic Dressing! I would try it again if I'm in the area!

From the moment we stepped inside we were treated like family or close friends of the owner. The owner works in the kitchen but greeted us at the counter and helped answer all of our questions. He is extremely passionate about his food and you can tell he takes great pride in it through every delicious bite. Due to covid , they have limited staff and no servers but their dining room is still open. We thought we would be picking our food up at the counter. Nope, the owner graciously served us and would not accept anything less. The owner apologized for the way covid has impacted how they do business (which he did not need to do) and he was overall just a very genuine and pleasant guy. He even offered us complimentary damascus bread and baklava. Here's what we tried: -Damascus bread and hummus - the damascus bread was light and crisp with sesame seeds sprinkled on top and drizzled with olive oil. It was a perfect pairing with the hummus. The hummus was some of the best I have ever had. Creamy , with a hint of paprika. -Chicken, kufta and veggies special over yellow rice with a Greek salad. Flavorful, tender and delicious!! It was so good. The owner also brought us some tzatziki sauce and a spicy tobasco based sauce. Both sauces complimented the meats well . The owner asked us how we liked the spicy sauce to which we replied how great it was and he then brought us some to take home. It's delicious so definitely order some on the side! -Baklava - this heavenly Baklava combined honey-soaked layers of flaky phyllo pastry with chopped nuts. It was very good. You gotta try this place - you will not regret it. Everything about our dining experience was perfect and I will be back every time I am in Columbia!!

I've always gone with and recommend the chicken kebab. It comes with about 4-5 pieces of grilled chicken, yellow rice, vegetables, and side of tzatziki sauce. The grilled flavor of the chicken just mixes so well with the rice, so having that clean "chicken & rice" meal while maintaining the awesome flavors. The menu is pretty diverse, despite Mediterranean being their speciality. They offer other American dishes like burgers or even pizza; never tried them though, but options are there to diversify. Right now due to Ramadan, their hours are adjusted for dining in, so they stop seating people around 7:30pm. To go orders are the only option; not a big deal for me though. I highly recommend people to try this place out if they haven't; seriously a solid 4 star dining establishment!

We came in a bit later in their dinner service and had no issue being sat and were even able to park in their small adjoined parking lot rather than hunting for street parking. I went with the grilled chicken kebabplate and subbed the Greek Salad for a small side of pita and hummus instead. I also wanted to try the kofta so was able to order one piece à la carte to try. It didn't take long for the generously portioned meal to come out....and it also didn't take long for my plate to be scraped clean. Everything was fresh, tasted excellence and seasoned to perfection. I preferred the chicken to the kofta but was glad I tried both. Pro tip - make sure to ask for a side of the yummy salad dressing to mix into your rice to really lake the flavor over the board with the chicken!
