Shishkebab's on Washington Road and North Belair Augusta, GA. Food: I personally enjoy Turkish food. Service: Service is always friendly a bit of language Barrier nevertheless the staff know enough to get the job done. Ambiance: You have got to love the traditional floor seating and accommodating tables how cool!

Gyro platter and the vegetable skewer

Great service amazing food great ambience definitely would come back again. The tzatziki sauce is not what I thought but overall amazing place.

The food was delicious!! We tried the feta rolls and the gyro wrap, and they were both incredible. The server was very kind & helpful when ordering. We will definitely be back!

2. Hummus

My husband and I need a quick lunch while running errands and have been meaning to give Shishkebab a try for a while. We were both very happy with the choice. We were greeted immediately as we came in the door and informed we could choose where we would like to sit. We opted for a booth today but will definitely try out the traditional floor/cushion seating at a future visit because we will definitely be back. We ordered the feta rolls and hummus appetizers. The feta rolls were so good that they never had a chance of getting photographed. They were light and crisp while still having a substantial creamy cheese filling. The hummus on the other hand was underwhelming, it was served with delightful soft fluffy pita and looked fantastic when it came out. The color immediately led us both to believe it was perhaps a roasted pepper flavor but somehow it was the least flavorful hummus I've had in a while. Don't get me wrong, it's not bad and as you can see we still ate most of it. The texture was perfectly velvety and creamy, it was just boring. Not garlic, no herbs, no nuttiness; just chickpea flavor plain hummus (which admittedly it is sold as). For us we wouldn't order it again, not because it's bad, but because the disconnect between the appearance and actual flavor was a let down with each bite. Enough about the hummus. We both ordered the lunch special gyro wraps. I got mine with the baklava. My husband opted for the rice. I would say that their advertisement of "best gyro in town" is accurate. The pita is soft fluffy perfection that is thick enough to handle the juicy meat and veggies without falling apart. The meat was tender and full of flavor, the crisp lettuce and pickled/marinated vegetables was a refreshing contrast and the tzatziki sauce was perfect. My husband did note that he missed having fresh tomato on his, for me the cabbage and onion provided to much moisture and freshness that I didn't even notice the lack until he mentioned it. His rice was fluffy, buttery with just a hint of nuttiness. A good white rice. My baklava was fantastic. The flaky crunch with the sweet almost creamy walnut filling was the perfect finish to my meal. Our server was attentive throughout the entire meal refilling our drinks and checking in on us. We are excited to come back and try the grape leaves and other menu items.

Cozy floor seating

Delicious home style food in a cozy casual setting. All the items we ordered were perfectly seasoned and well balanced. The only downside was no vegan sauce options to swap in for taziki, with a tahini sauce option I would give this place 6 stars. What we ordered: Baba ganoush: 5/5 good flavor and balance Grape leaves: 6/5 these were incredible, took me back to my childhood when my grandma made grape leaves from scratch. I wish I'd gotten another order to go, just writing this review makes me crave more. Hummus: 3/5 compared to everything else the hummus didn't blow me away. It wasn't a creamy or nutty as I would prefer but was nicely spiced. My hummus loving kids weren't interested in this one but my husband and I ate it all - so not bad Lentil soup: 8/10 Wow! The flavors in this blew me away. It was rich and creamy with plenty of olive on top, a hint of mint maybe? It was amazing. Order the soup, you won't regret it. Veggie kebabs: 4/5 solid veggie kebabs, the rice pilaf is flavorful and the veggies are perfectly cooked. If there were a vegan sauce available for these then it would be 5/5.

Delicious food and fast! Service was excellent, friendly staff. Although I got take out the interior was nice with Turkish decor.

15. Gyro Kebab (rice, vegetable, pita bread, and tzatziki sauce)
PJ M.

The Hummus and Gyro Kebab was delicious! I even asked to make the Kebab spicy and they added several red flakes on the kebab. All the components on the plate really worked well with each other. The service was very tentative because we were the first customer there. The ambiance felt like I was actually in Turkey. They had a traditional Turkish floor area and modern style tables for guests. The food was delicious and filling. Definitely coming back to this location again.

Fantastic service. The food was really good. I had the gyro wrap with salad. I tried some falafel and chicken skewer. I was all delicious. Took the baklava and baklava cheesecake to go. The cheesecake was nice. The baklava was a little sweet.

The gyro and salad were just OK; I considered the baba ghanoush portion for the price very small.

The seating was comfortable, had tons of cushions so it was definitely a vibe. Our waitress was absolutely amazing. Came to the table the right amount of times and was pleasant as anyone can ever be. The food was on point! The gyro meat was seasoned to perfection. I opted to swap the rice out for their veggies and it was a great call. There were bell peppers, onions, tomatoes and mushrooms in there which complimented the meat perfectly. Their tzatziki is homemade and the perfect contrast to the dish. I'll definitely be back for lunch or dinner soon!

I've always gone with and recommend the chicken kebab. It comes with about 4-5 pieces of grilled chicken, yellow rice, vegetables, and side of tzatziki sauce. The grilled flavor of the chicken just mixes so well with the rice, so having that clean "chicken & rice" meal while maintaining the awesome flavors. The menu is pretty diverse, despite Mediterranean being their speciality. They offer other American dishes like burgers or even pizza; never tried them though, but options are there to diversify. Right now due to Ramadan, their hours are adjusted for dining in, so they stop seating people around 7:30pm. To go orders are the only option; not a big deal for me though. I highly recommend people to try this place out if they haven't; seriously a solid 4 star dining establishment!

The owner brought me something to try that he was eating for dinner, and I don't remember what it was, but it was made with quinoa and was a bit spicy! Whatever it was, it was delicious... Since I came in by myself, and it was an "off hour," the owner spoke with me about all kinds of things going on in the restaurant and what was coming up in the future, including that they are adding Indian food! He was charming, sweet, and very nice! He really made my day! The food is delicious, and the staff are very sweet... Excellent dinner experience!

I went at lunch, and it was busy; however, the service was welcoming. Again, it was a feeling of comfort and nostalgia. The menu looked like it had a lot of good options. We ordered the salmon special, which came with rice and a green salad. The food didn't take too long at all. Everything looked fresh. It almost took me on a mental trip back to Greece and how fresh those ingredients were. I should have captured the after picture of the plate. I ate every drop. Everything was so delicious, from the salad to the rice with the juices and sauce from the salmon seeping throughout. The salmon was so delicious. It was like grilled yet cooked to perfection and full of flavor and extremely tasty. Even my lunch partner enjoyed every last drop of their food. Needless to say, I'll be back to enjoy more. The pita bread was probably store bought or just made cheaply. I know it is Columbia, and I have given up expecting great quality restaurants, I know the standards are pretty low here, but this placemos bad.
