It's small inside so made a reservation . We got there early and got seated quickly. Our server let us know that the patio table finished and paid so when the party left she would seat us outside . We looked at the nenu while waiting for my sib - everything looked really good! The salads were tempting and the burgers/handhelds had a variety of proteins. Our server told us what was out and new items. All I heard was yellowfin tuna with sesame crust and made it one of my choices as a $23 tuna steak burger was a fantastic deal! once everyone was seated we watched the the outdoor party for sign of movement - I think they took 1/2 hr to finally go but our server took our orders already but we got moved. It was so nice out there! ordered drinks and chatted until the food arrived. I ordered the tuna burger with 1/2 fries and salad, hubby ordered the same but with fries, sis ordered the prawn salad and bil had the chicken salad but wanted salmon instead ( he got a lovey filet) . The tuna was crusted and seared and rare inside- a thick piece so the bun got squashed and it had pineapple with teriyaki sauce - luckily the teriyaki sauce was not overpowering at all and i just pulled the pineapple ring out. The green salad was out so had caesar salad - but i should have had the dressed romaine greens as there was a lot of dressing and cheese in bottom of bowl. Fries were thin, crispy and should have just had those instead! The prawn salad had lots of big prawns and i didn't try it but other than the bread on the side, my sister enjoyed it and polished it off. The bil dug into his salmon salad and was happy with the sub and cleaned up his plate. Our server was great - very friendly and attentive. My sister asked for a nonalcoholic drink that was fruity and fizzy and she got that! She had a great sense of humour and took care of us until it was time to leave ( they were closing soon too) I'll come back to try the salad and new menu items?

Guess she is telling us to order enough food and don't share one or two items between us because we are Chinese? We certainly took some offense to that comment. Towards the latter part of the meal, she got somewhat friendlier. Not as amazing as I had hoped from seeing the Google and Yelp reviews, but still one of the better casual eateries out here if you don't mind some "interesting" conversation with the owner.

She rather curtly told us that the coffee machine was broken and that the cook was running late, so there would be a bit of a wait. Rather than matching her energy, I recognized that she was in distress and treated her with patience and compassion. She recovered quickly and began offering excellent service. I ordered the Classic Canadian Brunch and felt disappointed with the sausage and pancakes. The eggs were cooked properly and the bacon was good. My boyfriend went with the Angus Benny, upgraded with the croissant bun. He described it as "not bad and not great." He said the eggs were cooked properly and the hollandaise was "good," but that the beef was "a step above good deli meat" and the bun was "too thin." He liked the potatoes. Maybe this was an off day at the Cozy Nook.

The indoor area is split into 2 adjacent areas. There is an E facing patio as well. Staff are friendly. No complaints. As of the time of my visit, there were 8 beers available. Most are light to medium. The one that stuck out for me was the apple lager. Definitely something different, as it wasn't a cider. The place also has cocktails and 3rd party ciders. They also have some diner type food (appies, burgers, sandwiches) though I didn't try. Probably good place to eat if one is in the area. Buddy and I had a good time. Wouldn't mind coming back at some point.

The bare walls could use some color and there really needs something to baffle some of the noise...it's very loud! It didn't help the night we were there there was a table of six who appeared to have been there for some time. A couple of whom were VERY boisterous! Nor did it help when one of the staff sat very close sorting/drying cutlery very noisily. Food-wise we had the halibut and chips. Excellent, crispy, batter. Fresh moist halibut. Tasty coleslaw and 8/10 fries. Beer-wise: We had a pale ale and a stout which were both very nice. Service was courteous but not engaging...no follow up 'is everything OK.' We got the impression the staff were new and that they were shorthanded. Will definitely be back.
