We stopped in on a whim, not having been here since it was the Yellow House. It's been Reno'd by the new owners, but it's still the same cozy feeling as before. We were seated quickly and given menus. Beer selection is small and limited to domestic type pale lagers. They have a nice little selection of craft cocktails, which we opted not to try. The wine selection was small but comprehensive and local, with a good half dozen available "on tap" by the glass, 1/2 litre and one litre. We decided on an off-dry Pinot Grigio based blend they had "on tap", skipped the apples and went straight to entrées. I had the special which was a nice salmon filet topped with a light, delicate cream sauce and capers, with broccoli, carrots and beet and a saffron risotto. My girlfriend had the pan seared chicken with truffles and the same sides as me. The salmon was very good and the veggies perfectly done. The chicken was even better than the salmon. But the risotto was absolutely to die for. Creamy, delicate and slightly sweet. For dessert, we got the crème brûlée with a coffee gelato and a chocolate cake, also with gelato. Both were excellent and wonderful Enders to an exquisite meal. Highly recommended. Service was excellent, and very personal. Off the main drag in Kelowna this restaurant lives up to its name. Crab cakes were So fresh and delicious. If you love Carbonara pasta this is the best I have ever had including my trip to Italy. It was creamy great garlic and perfect pancetta size texture and the pasta models were outstanding. Don't be put off by the look of an old house this place is great for food and service. We had a very mixed experience about Hidden Gem. The food was pretty good, and the drinks were decent however the service was quite lacking this evening that we went. We were a table of 6 with a reservation and for whatever reason our table was ignored for a good 15-20 minutes since we arrived. We were seated outside, and I've watched the server for our table walk past us taking orders and brining drinks for other tables in our section, I had to go inside to ask for waters and menus. From there on our server did come by for orders but we were put off by the weird experience. However our food came, I had the carbonara, it was good food and the service picked up. We had another server come take over our section as the restaurant got busier and service was way better so I take it must have been an off night for the other server / short staff. I would try this spot again though as the service was friendly, just lacking, and the food was good! read more

Disappointed that food took so long. Arrived at the restaurant at 5:20 and did not get my meal until 7pm. The salmon was nice, but better without the sauce. Could hardly find the risotto or mash potatoes under the salmon because there was about a tablespoon of it. I have never seen such a microscopic portion of food. I also had to take my meal to go because there was no time to have it at the restaurant because it took so long to get. Expensive meal to top it all off. read more

Boy I sure hate to give a restaurant a one star review but here is my story. Arrive on time for our reservation and wait in a vestibule with 4 others squished in to a spot not even big enough for them, two more people come in and make us even cozier. We were seen by staff but apparently a lower priority than anything else. When we were finally addressed [10 minutes?] we were seated right away and then wait staff disappeared for 20 or 30 minutes after we got our water. finally got a drink order in, 20 minutes later wine appeared with a side order of excuse, and an unbecoming froth on the white whine. An hour has passed and our order has not been taken. Water continues to arrive occasionally, no one seating around us appears to be getting fed either. Around then our order is taken, half hour later the 'split' salad arrives, I get nothing but to watch my wife and daughter eat. Another hour goes by [two hours now] and another round of excuses shows up and supposedly two free glasses of wine. 15 minutes later free wine shows up. [NOte this is a tiny restaurant, every time the waitress enters she has to walk by us] I advise my wife that if we do not see food by 9:00 we are getting up and leaving ]we arrived at 6:30] Five minutes before blast off I finally get my soup, tasty but tepid and I did not dare send it back for fear of never seeing any food! 9:00 came and went but now I found myself obligated to not walk out, about 9:10 the other half of our meals came out and I made sure that our bill came with it as I did not want to stay the night waiting for it. The ravioli had to go back and get reheated, my salad looked like it had fallen off the plate and was scraped back on in a heap, the fish dinner was good and hot and pricey. Another free round of excuses and not even offer a free dessert or a free meal. As I exited she apologized yet again and I politely said no need "I won't be back" At this comment she offered me a voucher for about 40% of what I paid on my 'next visit'. I will use it to start a campfire somewhere. Some other diners beside us had the same experience and when they tried to put no tip on their card, it would not accept it. Awkward but I am pretty sure they got some free excuses too. I have been here 4 times in the past and always found the food to be good, service reasonable and prices high. Tonight was horrible and for a "Dine around Kelowna" experience, worst ever. read more

Visiting the area during Skate Canada 2019 - Truly a precious gem of a place!! Ramone is the main chef and his cuisine is very exquisite!! Full flavorably cuisine, simple and delicate with a variety to fulfill anyone's palate!!! Jean Rene' is very personable, very inviting to this cozy place and knowledgeable in the menu and wine pairings..place is a bit difficult to find at night but well worth the dining experience!!! read more

Phenomenal food and service :) The Dine Around menu was fantastic value - $45 for a 5 course meal. Each item was so well thought-out and well-portioned. We ended the night stuffed but not overstuffed. Highlights for me were the delicious champagne-balsamic vinaigrette on the salad, the delightfully flavorful tomato saffron dill bisque, the savory sweet pistachio ice cream with my creme brulee, and the amazing Bellini I ordered - it surprised me not being like the regular slushy Bellini from Cactus/Earls but I have to say it was better. Excellent food and amazing service! My bf and I went for our anniversary. They started us off with a complimentary tea. They were very accommodating to special requests and allowed us to start with a half order of soup because we didn't want to get too full on starters. We ordered a curried pumpkin soup--amazing stuff! They were also very accommodating to food specifications (I requested Pan-Seared Hillcrest Farm Chicken Supreme without mushrooms and they made it with a pesto-based sauce instead of a mushroom-based one). The bartender made sure we were happy with our cocktails and modified my bf's cocktail after it was served to improve the flavour balance. The chocolate trio dessert we got was also incredible--the mousse is nice and thick with consistency and very cocoa rich; the white hazelnut bark has rosemary in it, and the chocolate quinoa cake is amazingly moist and rich. They then gave us a rich chocolate with the bill, made in house. Highly recommended! read more
