We had an amazing time having some fish n chips and chicken tenders. The food is so good and the prices were cheap too. Definitely worth checking out, this is a great hole in the wall spot. Can't wait to go back again.

Great fish and chips! Just went with my wife... same recipient that worked for 50 yearsFish and Chips

Cashier and counter area! You can also see all the awards they have won!

A Kelowna classic! If you are familiar with Vancouver's Pajos ( popular fish and chips spot) I think this is better! The pieces are bigger and cheaper. The oil does not taste old! This is also quite traditional to what British fish and chips are. Also supporting local is great!

They've been here for over 60 years. I'm sure it's had a change in ownership over the years, but what's unique is that it's a fish and chip joint that is nowhere near an ocean! Firstly the chips aren't half bad. Right out of the fryer they're good. They have halibut and cod and prawns. All dipped in a very thick batter . We had the fish and prawn combo. Came to over $25 for halibut and prawns. I knew not to expect Pajo's level of fish and chips. Firstly how fresh can the fish really be? It would have to be frozen for Kelowna. The ocean is quite far. Here's my breakdown. 1) Nostalgia, being here for 60 years means something. 4 stars 2) style, ambiance - the dated look is kinda cool. I like the styling. 4 stars. 3) Halibut - batter kinda too crispy, more harder than anything else. Maybe a bit overlooked. Not much fish inside. 2.5 stars 4) Prawns same as above, overcooked and crunchy. 2.5 stars 5) Chips were good. I have them a 3 stars. Overall? 3 stars. I'm sure they can do better and I may have come on a day just after the lunch rush and missed out on the good bits and the fresh oil for frying. I do like the ambiance of this place that just seems to pop from out of nowhere least expected. I'm glad I got the chance to try it out.

Cod & halibut, fresh cut fries. Made to order. Add some malt vinegar and chow down

We ordered cod and halibut, fresh cut fries, all made to order. The batter is light and the portions healthy. Add some malt vinegar, and chow down. This small place is in a residential area with a small eating area so we sat outside and enjoyed our meal. Luck people who live nearby.

2 piece halibut & chips - to go, plus tartar & gravy

Quick friendly service. Best fish and chips in Kelowna! Not a big seating area. Take out orders wrapped in newspaper. Very British!

Everything was fresh & cooked to perfection. This is a very comfortable place. No loud music, so we could carry on a conversation easily. We shared a dessert it was more than enough for two. Fresh pineapple fried in a tempura coating laid up on two scoops of wonderful ice cream with a Carmel sauce. If you're looking for a great fresh meal of assorted fresh fish this place can't be beat. The service is spot on. There when you need something otherwise you're left alone. No one hovering over you. There is a small patio if you like to sit outside. Have a bear or a glass of wine with your meal. Adjoining the restaurant is the fish monger. Stop & give this spot a try I'm sure you'll be pleased with your meal & the service. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Broken Anchor to anyone looking to have a great meal if assorted types of fish & chips. There's something in the menu to please everyone. My daughter & I will definitely be going back for another enjoyable lunch. Thanks for the great service Broken Anchor & a meal that was fresh & delicious.

We dropped in on a Friday (around 6:15pm). The inside is small with about 5 tables. You order up at the counter and pay first. The menu consists of shares, tacos, bowls, sandwiches, fish & chips and family packs. They also have a very small, limited happy hour (1:00pm to 5:00pm). - Wild pacific cod ($21.55 for 1/2 lb) - the cod was extremely disappointing; completely dry and overcooked. The fries were the same. Soggy, limp and bland. Coleslaw was passable but oddly not cut evenly. - Steamed clams & mussels ($19.00) - came with four pieces of buttered bread. The white wine sauce and garlic was decent but something you could replicate at home. Would have liked a little more clams and mussels for the price point. Was hoping to find a gem but left Broken Anchor disappointed. Try somewhere else for your fish & chip fix.

Our servers on both occasions were highlights, attentive yet also leaving us be. Last night it was just K and I and the previous visit there were five of us outside on the patio. The space is nicely decorated but has no real charm or ambiance, which is understandable in a big hotel. The menu is extensive enough that you should be able to find something to meet the needs of your palate while here, but there are many choices within walking distance that may be a better choice of you are looking for a specific culinary experience. If you don't want to leave the hotel, you shouldn't be disappointed with your choice. Our food while not amazing during each visit was solid, and well presented. It might be a little on the higher end cost wise, but what isn't these days. Given all the choices in the neighbourhood within a short stroll, you may want to explore, but also understand the best choice might be in the hotel you're staying at.

Well, we were driving through West Kelowna and…read morefound "Buy the Sea," which surprised us with a menu that not only included fish and chips, but lots of fresh seafood to take home as well. The small restaurant/market offered different kinds of fish and chips at different price points. There was Cod, Haddock, Halibut, Prawns and Oysters, and we chose to split the Haddock and chips, with extra coleslaw and tartar sauce. The Haddock arrived quickly and hot, with a piece for each of us, and a handful of fries - even for a split dish, there were really large portions. The fish was perfectly fried, and inside, tender and melted in my mouth. The chips were crispy, and I enjoyed dipping them in both the ketchup and tartar. They also provided both white and malt vinegar which I appreciated. After lunch, we perused the market area and saw there were giant crab legs, octopus, lots of fresh fish, poke, smoked fish and crab. I had my eye on the sushi-grade Ahi which I will take home next time to make my own sushi. There were also jars of sauces and dressings, and I spied ghost pepper sauce for the next time I need a good flavor boost. The prices were reasonable, and everything seemed fresh and clean. Looking forward to returning!
