The fish is also over fried or overcooked. I have to say their fish and chips are not worth the price. Worse is that they tried double frying their fries or they didn't change their oil as frequently as they should. It came out not golden but dark brownish color. On top, it had some staled oil taste. This is a very comfortable place. No loud music, so we could carry on a conversation easily. We shared a dessert it was more than enough for two. Fresh pineapple fried in a tempura coating laid up on two scoops of wonderful ice cream with a Carmel sauce. If you're looking for a great fresh meal of assorted fresh fish this place can't be beat. The service is spot on. There when you need something otherwise you're left alone. No one hovering over you. There is a small patio if you like to sit outside. Have a bear or a glass of wine with your meal. Adjoining the restaurant is the fish monger. Stop & give this spot a try I'm sure you'll be pleased with your meal & the service. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Broken Anchor to anyone looking to have a great meal if assorted types of fish & chips. There's something in the menu to please everyone. My daughter & I will definitely be going back for another enjoyable lunch. Thanks for the great service Broken Anchor & a meal that was fresh & delicious.

We dropped in on a Friday (around 6:15pm). The inside is small with about 5 tables. You order up at the counter and pay first. The menu consists of shares, tacos, bowls, sandwiches, fish & chips and family packs. They also have a very small, limited happy hour (1:00pm to 5:00pm). - Wild pacific cod ($21.55 for 1/2 lb) - the cod was extremely disappointing; completely dry and overcooked. The fries were the same. Soggy, limp and bland. Coleslaw was passable but oddly not cut evenly. - Steamed clams & mussels ($19.00) - came with four pieces of buttered bread. The white wine sauce and garlic was decent but something you could replicate at home. Would have liked a little more clams and mussels for the price point. Was hoping to find a gem but left Broken Anchor disappointed. Try somewhere else for your fish & chip fix.

It's small inside so made a reservation . We got there early and got seated quickly. Our server let us know that the patio table finished and paid so when the party left she would seat us outside . We looked at the nenu while waiting for my sib - everything looked really good! The salads were tempting and the burgers/handhelds had a variety of proteins. Our server told us what was out and new items. All I heard was yellowfin tuna with sesame crust and made it one of my choices as a $23 tuna steak burger was a fantastic deal! once everyone was seated we watched the the outdoor party for sign of movement - I think they took 1/2 hr to finally go but our server took our orders already but we got moved. It was so nice out there! ordered drinks and chatted until the food arrived. I ordered the tuna burger with 1/2 fries and salad, hubby ordered the same but with fries, sis ordered the prawn salad and bil had the chicken salad but wanted salmon instead ( he got a lovey filet) . The tuna was crusted and seared and rare inside- a thick piece so the bun got squashed and it had pineapple with teriyaki sauce - luckily the teriyaki sauce was not overpowering at all and i just pulled the pineapple ring out. The green salad was out so had caesar salad - but i should have had the dressed romaine greens as there was a lot of dressing and cheese in bottom of bowl. Fries were thin, crispy and should have just had those instead! The prawn salad had lots of big prawns and i didn't try it but other than the bread on the side, my sister enjoyed it and polished it off. The bil dug into his salmon salad and was happy with the sub and cleaned up his plate. Our server was great - very friendly and attentive. My sister asked for a nonalcoholic drink that was fruity and fizzy and she got that! She had a great sense of humour and took care of us until it was time to leave ( they were closing soon too) I'll come back to try the salad and new menu items?

All the waiters and waitress were young but very polite. The menu was quite large and a little overwhelming. Lots of choices but most of the front menu was all burger choices. And let me tell you, they were pretty darn good burgers. I'm pretty picky with burgers but this was juicy yet not drippingly juicy with oils soaked through the burger bun. It was just enough that you can taste everything else in the burger as well. The bottomless sides were the main attraction. We had a few ceasar salads and their fries were so thick and crispy. Almost felt like wedges. I definitely want to try their onion ring tower next time and maybe a cinnamon donut dessert.
