Spartan medals and double Caesars
Andrew R.

Perfect place to celebrate a successful day of Spartan racing. Greeted at the door with sparkling wine. Terrific service from friendly, welcoming staff. Sunday drink special is the double Caesar! Try the Italian doughnuts for dessert.

Shrimp curry

Bomb food. Very expansive menu. Sushi to burgers to pasta to curry! Beautiful ambiance- inside pretty dim but outside was nice during the day. Nice service, very attentive. Fun place overall

Tuna poke bowl - yummy and light!

Looks closed from the outside because of the dark glass but don't let that deceive you. The restaurant has plexiglass between tables and the booths are well spaced apart. Good selection of food choices. Our tuna poke bowls hit the spot but not too full. Enjoyed the food and the ambiance.

We celebrated my hubby's birthday at Joey's on Sat. Jul.22. From the time we walked in and were offered lovely glasses of bubbly the mood was set. We had excellent service from Noel who was very friendly, efficient and polite. He said he was in training but it did not show. Our food was delicious as was the bottle of B.C. Wine we had ordered. At the end of our meal, to our surprise, the manager came by to say Happy Birthday and offer a complimentary dessert. The evening was perfect but made even more special by the generous couple who were sitting across from us. They had paid our bill because of the birthday we were celebrating. This was absolutely the most touching gesture we have ever experienced. I wish I could thank them once again and do hope good karma comes their way. Thanks for a perfect evening to all the Joey staff and the mystery people who were dining across from us.

We had chips and salsa and guacamole, and then a seafood tower, although since they were out of oysters we ended up with two jars of black lumpfish caviar, which was not a bad thing, although the only time I've eaten caviar with a dinner fork.

Our servers on both occasions were highlights, attentive yet also leaving us be. Last night it was just K and I and the previous visit there were five of us outside on the patio. The space is nicely decorated but has no real charm or ambiance, which is understandable in a big hotel. The menu is extensive enough that you should be able to find something to meet the needs of your palate while here, but there are many choices within walking distance that may be a better choice of you are looking for a specific culinary experience. If you don't want to leave the hotel, you shouldn't be disappointed with your choice. Our food while not amazing during each visit was solid, and well presented. It might be a little on the higher end cost wise, but what isn't these days. Given all the choices in the neighbourhood within a short stroll, you may want to explore, but also understand the best choice might be in the hotel you're staying at.

We made reservations and I'm really glad we did, it was very busy and we noticed later that there was a line and a wait to get in. There is a beautiful boardwalk and dock just in front of the restaurant. We went on a nice walk before dinner as we were a bit early. At our reservation time we were seated right away in a relatively quiet booth as requested. So bonus points earned here. The restaurant was pretty loud but our corner was not too bad. Our server was friendly, but we only ended up seeing her every 20-30 mins. I ordered a fantastic wine, which I have since gone out and bought, and my husband also ordered a great wine. Our appetizer was the sunset shrimp, which I was a bit hesitant to order at first. But OMG it was absolutely delicious! If you come for nothing else order this, it's tempura shrimp over a bed of picked vegetables and has an awesome spicy creamy sauce drizzled on top. I ordered the fettuccine Alfredo with blackened chicken. This was epic as it is made with FRESH and I mean fresh pasta, and the chicken was super moist! Probably one of the best pasta dishes I have had in a very long time. Hubs ordered the ribs which he said were ok, but a bit dry, his highlight was the fries. He thought they were fried in tallow, super crisp and flavourful. We ordered a dessert to share which was a bit disappointing. A turtle cheesecake, which was supposed to have candied pecans, nope just walnuts. Supposed to have caramel and chocolate drizzle, no where to be found. And it was coated in a lot of raw cinnamon, not even mentioned on the menu. And it was the tiniest slice I have ever been served at any restaurant anywhere, and it was $12. All in all a very pleasant evening, with mostly highs, I would still recommend this place as most of the food and especially the wine were wonderful.

They did a wonderful job of allowing us to kinda check in early and then called us when our room was ready. The rooms were nicely appointed in our double Queen with a good amount of room. The bathroom is a little snug, given the door brushes the front of the toilet. The bathroom is a one person at a time deal unless you're fine with close proximity bathroom habits. The bed was comfy, which is always a big thing for us. The breakfast covers all the bases, and although not memorable, offers a good variety to satisfy most seekers of the most important meal of the day.
