Recommended by a friend and didn't disappoint! Was looking for great beer and pizza. Started with the duo dip which was queso and avocado verde served with tortilla chips. Chips were thin and hot and not greasy, but initially the dish confused us Americans. The queso turned out to be what we would call pimento cheese dip. The avocado verde was in the center of it. It was tasty but not the melty queso we thought we were getting. Split a margarita pizza and that was delish. Thin crust which was nicely crispy but not burnt. Nice balance of red sauce (not too sweet nor acidic) with basil and fresh mozzarella. Didn't have fresh tomato slices but it's winter anyways. Two great draft beers and we were happy! Service was prompt at the bar and the manager came over and pleasantly accommodated our request to turn on opening day baseball. After hearing rave reviews of the new King Taps location that recently opened in Langley, we decided to check out the King Taps in Kelowna. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The location is water front and was busy even at 9pm when we went for late night Happy Hour.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We did make a reso but had to wait a few minutes before we got seated. Started off ordering a beer, Korean Chicken, Notorious Pizza, and The Bolo pasta. Within 2 minutes of placing our order, we literally got the Korean Chicken dish and were tokd the dish was "hot". It appeared that the Korean Chicken dish was not made fresh to order and we got whatever was sitting around as the batter was soggy and the chicken inside was dry. However, the sauce was amazing and we really enjoyed that. As the server wasn't around and didn't check in on us for awhile, we didn't get a chance to send it back and just ate the chicken as we were hungry. The pizza and pasta were fine but very average. For a place that's known for their pizza, expected something better and the overall experience to be more positive as the disappointing experience on the Korean chicken soured the experience for us, especially as our first visit to King Taps. To be served chicken that was sitting around and clearly wasn't made fresh to order didn't make sense for a place operated under the Cactus club banner and with the location being so popular. We did end up providing feedback to the restaurant and it took them a week to respond but all they said was that our experience was disappointing for them to hear and they didn't offer any steps on how to rectify the situation to make our impression of King Taps to be more favorable, or how they would take steps to prevent the Korean fried chicken incident from happening again. Can see King Taps lasting in Langley but don't think it would do as well in Vancouver when you can get much better service and food almost anywhere else. read more

We were out exploring a little and wound up at King Taps on the Kelowna waterfront. The waterfront area is bustling with walkers, shoppers and a very busy boat ramp. King Taps is a large open air space with a full rectangular bar in the center. We sat next to the large plate glass window which is actually the wall. Our server was very nice and efficient. We ordered a burger which was very good the patty was seasoned well. Mama had a very good turkey club. She's on a club kick this trip. The star in my opinion was the Bang Bang Shrimp appetizer. So good. So many flavors going. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We were placed at a raised up bar style table with tall chairs. Our last dinner in Kelowna was extra sad. This restaurant has an AMAZING view from the patio (lake front). However, the view was of the Forest Fire in West Kelowna. As we sat and enjoyed our dinner, people were being evacuated from their homes. My heart goes out to them. It was very busy, and our server did well. He also added an extra slider on an app since we had 4 people and let me sample 3 beers before ordering. It was louder than usual just because everyone was mesmerized by the fire across the lake. As for food, I would say it was pretty decent for how busy the place was. Food came out fairly fast and was pretty tasty. I would definitely say check this place out just cause of the patio. I ordered the tacos with shrimps and one order of truffle fries. Terrible. What a waste of money. McDonald's fries are better. The waitress didn't put my fries order at the same time as the tacos so they came after the tacos. Tacos supposed prawns were about 2 skinny little pieces of overdone prawns in each taco that had been deep fried to death with a very weird sauce. I will never return to this restaurant. I was appalled by the lack of attention in the middle of the day when there was a handful of ppl throughly out the entire pub. I sat at the bar in my regular ol street clothes. This place is amazing! Great for families or with friends. The location is pretty by the water. The food is amazing just some of it is was a little spicy. What really made this restaurant amazing is the staff especially Remy. We came in with a huge group of people and she was able to handle the group. She was able to keep the adults and kids happy. We were so excited to go here and made reservations for 4 on a Monday night. We were seated promptly outside on the patio, it is a beautiful spot. The waitress brought water and walked away as we were trying to order our drinks, finally about 10 min later she came back to order. The drinks came 15 min later and they were swiftly dropped off and we were left waiting again to place our appetizer order, we were seated at 6 and didn't get a chance to place our Appy order till 645, at 713 the appetizer was delivered swiftly and the waitress walked away... My gf and I both noted we would need to get the waitresses attention if we had plans to eat tonight as it was really slow. So as soon as she passed we asked her if we could place our order. That was 725. After we placed the order my gf said she regretted her choice of a salad and wanted to switch, the waitress was passing and it was maybe max 5 min from ordering, the waitress informed us that the order was already in and probably almost done. We asked if she could try to pull it and she said she would and went off to other tables, 740 comes and she says she checked and they were almost done making the salad so no we couldn't change it. 803 the food arrives.... Except the salad .... That arrived at 810.... The food was fine, nothing worth the wait, but also not bad, we never even got to order more drinks because she wouldn't stay long enough to let us ask. When she came with the bill it was 9 and she asked if we wanted dessert lol.... It took an hour to get a Korean chicken Appy.... So no.... She brought the bill, literally said nothing, it was pure silence. Would I eat there again? No, great location but horrible service, long wait, and honestly the food is only fine, nothing that you write home about. There are so many great amazing restaurants in Kelowna, killer food + amazing staff... The website credit card part would not work so I had to order through DoorDash. It said the order was going to be ready between 6:40 to 6:45 PM. I gave my cell number and expected to get a text when it was ready. I waited until 6:45 and got no text so I went to pick it up and i had been sitting there for 20 minutes. I got home to find an email from them at 6:27 saying that the order was ready. There are many people who do not have access to email when they are out walking about or in their car, I do not. Why on earth would they send an email telling you the order is ready instead of sending a text? Of course my pizza was cold when I got home. Not impressed. Next time I will order dinner from the Cactus Club. I've had the shrimp pesto pizza in the restaurant before and it was pretty good but this one has hardly any cheese on it so I would give it a 6 out of 10. read more
