I normally love going to Shipleys. The donuts are good and the kolaches are delicious and fresh. However, yesterday, when I went to get some donuts and kolaches the woman working was not very nice. She had an AirPod in the ear facing the drive-through window. So obviously she had a hard time hearing me. She finally said "what?!" and took it out of her ear.- smart move. I ordered donut holes, a cinnamon twist, a cake donut, and two kolaches. She didn't give me my donut holes. So I paid $12 for two kolaches and two donuts. Seems kind of high. A pretty nice selection and 10% off for checking in here... can't beat that with a sledge hammer! I really had no idea this location was here. If my wife hadn't said it I would have gone to another spot as always, but our boys wanted doughnuts and we haven't been happy with the place near by... so my wife recommended I go here. It is a good spot, it has a drive through, the people were nice inside... and they have a nice selection. The raspberry filled, Cherry filled, blueberry filled or custard filled are all pretty good! I bought two dozen doughnuts thinking I would have some for my boys the next day... NOT!! The left overs turned pretty stale even buy the night of the same day. Usually when they get like this you can microwave them and they get better... NOT! They got yucky... just not good. Had not been to this place in years so decided to stop by and grab some donuts for my family. I was reminded why I stopped buying donuts here, they're just not very good. The chocolate frosted tasted very generic, like artificial flavor. The jelly filled donuts are quite small and filling also taste very artificial. Awesome! This store and delivery service are flawless. We've ordered small orders ( 1/2 dozen donuts) 3 times recently and each one was delivered quickly and exactly as asked. As to the donuts, these guys know their stuff. The glazed are bigger and better than Duck donuts or Crispy Crème, and were delivered, warm, perfectly made and boxed such that the 6 donuts were in perfect condition when I opened it. I could not recommend them more. I ordered from the Pflugerville store each time, so I can't account for other locations, but this one is an outstanding way to get delicious & quickly delivered, best donuts around. read more

Went today 4/18 I have wanted to try this place for a while and today was the day. I have been eating kolaches that a frozen from Costco. I thought they were ok but really wanted to try a fresh one today. I ordered a basic sausage kolaches. I ate it while driving home. It turns out it was nothing more that a hot dog in a closed role. They were soft, but not as soft as the Mays St location in Round Rock. There wasn't a big selection either so that was disappointing. This is the first review I have ever written in my 28 years of living because this needs to be said. I've been eating Shipleys kolaches my entire life. This shipleys is BY FAR the worst I have ever had. They are serving DAYS old kolaches. The bread is stale and the cheese is dried up inside and the sausages taste old. As I pulled in, I could see the young employee roll her eyes as she had to get up from one of their tables to then put on gloves and attend the drive-thru. With a look of dejection, she said "Hello." I ordered the two sprinkle donuts for my kiddo, and handed the employee a $5 after she gave me my total. When she re-opened the window to give me the donuts and change, she didn't say a word. Not a "and here's your change" - nothing. I understand the job might not be the highest paying or most rewarding for you, but really? We've been coming to this location for about 10 years now. Over the last two weeks, the blueberry cake donuts were not fully cooked. Last week, I called and asked them to be replaced. I went in to today and they did, indeed, replace them -- with donuts that again were not cooked all the way through. I called to tell them about the issue and the lady answering the phone stated, "That's the way they're supposed to be". Well, that's not they the way they've been delivered for more than 5 years. These donuts do not dissapoint. Drive thru is a plus!!!! Because your girl right here doesn't always look on point lol. Down the street from my weekend Starbucks which is another plus. The team here is friendly and cares for their customers. Friends at work have brought Shipley's kolaches on several occasions, but I never gave them a shout out, and its well over due. Talked the wife into stopping for a quick breakfast. It was her first time, and she was pleasantly surprised. I'm updating my review and taking back a star to make my final (so far) review only 3-stars. I've had the unfortunate experience twice now of one particular server getting my order wrong. The suckiest part about this is that it has happened in the drive thru. I have clearly spoken my order, been met with what looks like understanding and I drive home to realize that what I received is not what I ordered. Maybe this could all be remedied if staff took short notes when customers order more than one thing in the drive thru? Maybe staff could repeat orders back to drive thru customers? Maybe if Shipley's is out of a particular type of donut that could be communicated rather than assuming that a customer will be ok with driving away and only later realizing t hat their order wasn't fulfilled in line with their expectations? Managing a donut store is not something I desire to do. It peeves me to no small end that I seem to have more ideas on how to provide better customer service than the people who work there. read more

Shipley's broke my cherry....my donut cherry that is :) I grew up eating this stuff since its original est. in Houston, TX. And now years later, finally, a Shipley's close to my hood! They have the second best glazed donuts here, runner-up to Krispy Kreme. Reason being, Shipley's donuts aren't very sustainable after the second day, as with Krispy Kreme their donuts are like non-biodegradable or something. The kolaches here are fantastic. The bread is semi sweet and when you break into the center of a jalapeño & cheese, there are actual jalapeños in there and the thing just oozes of melted cheese. Had a couple 'kolaches' that were nothing but a hot dog (like cheap store bought crap) wrapped in a melted american cheese slice (more cheap crap) baked into some admittedly tasty bread. Anyone ever been to Lone Star Kolaches here in Pflugerville before the accident, those were ten times better on most occasions. Shipleys doesn't have real kolaches, they are disgusting. These are the best donuts in Pflugerville. Shipley's Donuts are not exactly like Krispy Kreme, but pretty close. The end product is nice and flakey with a sweet glaze. The only thing that would make the donuts better is if they were always warm. I have not tried any non-donut item on the menu, but I can say that you will not be disappointed with the donuts. OK, I'm not a donut person, you should know that going into this review. Why, then, did I choose to go to Shipley's? Because my little man and I have been reading 'If You Give a Dog a Donut' and he had never had a donut before. Yes. We're THOSE parents. So instead of driving all across town to find another donut shop, we ended up a Shipley's. Those displays are enticing, aren't they? All shiny with their pretty sprinkles and different colored glazes. Don't be deceived. They are not as fresh as they look, at least not at 9am (which, if my world, is still plenty early enough in the day to eat breakfast, if you can call donuts 'breakfast'). We ordered a maple glazed, a chocolate glazed with sprinkles and a kolache, as well as some apple juice (because the dog eats donuts with apple juice - gotta follow the story). Everything tasted like it had been sitting out a couple hours too long. And it took me the rest of the day to get the oily taste out of my mouth. So disappointed. The staff was friendly, but who doesn't love a cute kid eating a donut? Seriously, that wins over almost anyone. Lesson learned. I called at 5:45am to get donuts for a meeting & was told to be there by 7am. I arrive at 6:50am due to Austin traffic. Upon arrival my order was NOT ready. Very small selection, it was 11:00am on a Monday. I asked for the cream cheese filled donut that I saw pictures of on here and she said it's discontinued. The only filled donut they had was cherry. I thought it'd be actual cream but instead it was like a sticky marshmallow-ish stringy texture with no flavor, just sugar. I had high hopes since this was a popular chain. The times I've come in the morning have been great customer service wise. However when I come around 11:30 or later, I get fast, but poor service. Meaning there are no "pleasantries". I'm not asked if I need napkins, there was no "have a good day" and incredibly, no smile at all! The transaction late mornings is very impersonal and I am the only one saying "Thank you" at the end of it. Odd when you consider tips are welcomed. What's odd is that two other people came in within minutes after me. The man was given every courtesy from good morning, to would you like napkins, to thank you sir, and have a great day. It's not the greatest but it's ok enough to go back for another if you're on the run and want something sweet. The kolaches are also not so great. The bread is kind of hard and the meat inside is ok.
