Patio

We had a delicious dinner out on the patio. Food, service, views were all perfect! The poutine was so good! And the lobster roll on a croissant was a fun delicious change.

Clam chowder, large clam pieces and perfectly seasoned

This was a great dinner pick. We had three entrees and the clam chowder. All perfectly cooked. Ribeye special was excellent. The lobster roll had big chunks of lobster with garlic butter on the outside of the lightly toasted roll. The salad had a creamy lemon basil dressing that complemented the fresh greens nicely.

Delicious mussels with garlic bread- highly recommend!!

They take reservations and as a party of 6, that's a nice start. Staff was very friendly and the food was some of the best we had in PEI.

Decent restaurant. Good variety on the menu. Bacon wrapped figs were excellent, baked oysters and fish and chips were pretty good.

We arrived in town today and started looking for a restaurant. This was a great find. As others…read morehave said, it is a family owned business. Our server Brooklyn was wonderful. Our group ended up having to sit separately because the waitress was concerned about not being able to walk around a larger table, which seemed unfounded and a concern that was waitress centered rather than customer centered. When asked about closing a window because cold air was affecting some in our party, same waitress said it was not possible because the kitchen needed the air... Well... five minutes later, the customers that took the table near the window simply closed the window to avoid the cold wind... Two for two! Not a great beginning. Ordered seafood chowder and fish and chips. What would you expect? Yes... seafood chowder is served first and once customers are done with it ... you bring the fish and chips. Logical, right? Not here. They brought everything together, which meant the fish and chips got cold while we had the chowder. Third strike... Anything else? Let me say this, the fried fish, in my opinion, was not great. First, you could taste "stale" oil (old oil). This alone turned me off. Second, there was little fish and a lot of breading, I'd say 70% breading 30% fish. So, if you combine oil taste with very thick breading you get what I got. To eat the fish I had to take the breading apart. On a positive note, the seafood chowder was excellent. As Luc B. review pointed out, it is a very basic family and kid friendly setting.

When we arrived, the line was already 20 people deep. We joined in, and to our surprise, it moved pretty quickly. We ordered four lobster rolls and grabbed a seat outside in the blustery wind. In the back of my mind I was thinking, this better be worth it. Then our buzzer went off. When I picked up our lunch and saw the sheer amount of lobster they give you, my first thought was: hell yes, this is worth it. Even sitting outside in the wind and drizzle couldn't take away from what was about to be one of the best meals I've ever had. I've never seen a sandwich packed with this much lobster before. Most restaurants give you a few chunks mixed with filler, but not at Richard's. These rolls were overflowing with big, juicy pieces and just the right amount of mayo. The bun was buttered and toasted to perfection. Honestly, this was probably one of the best sandwiches I've had in my life. If you're anywhere near PEI, do yourself a favor and go to Richard's--you won't regret it.

I got the lobster roll and it was delicious. Great amount of lobster spilling over a roll and a side of chips also. Would definitely recommend. Plenty of outdoor seating, or even go to the nearby beach by the bridge to enjoy your meal! Although FYI, if you buy any beer, you have to stay on the patio attached to the store.

Our family has to navigate life with a severe nut allergy, so we were impressed when the staff took the time to discuss with us exactly which menu items were made in-house and safe. It's a mom and pop operation, they talked about how hard it was to find consistency and quality from the suppliers during -and after- the pandemic. We were able to find several food options for my son, and for him we ordered fried fish with a side of poutine. He was in heaven. Well, we all were, actually, because the seafood was delish. We even returned later for soft serve ice cream because they guaranteed it was nut-free. My kid has only had ice cream from a commercial restaurant maybe 2 or 3 times in his life, so it was a very rare and welcome treat. We definitely recommend Captain Scott's - both for their food and also for their family's friendliness and service. We love this place. Thank you!

While…read moremost oysters along the island's northern coast trace their origins to Malpeque Bay, only those harvested here can officially be called Malpeque oysters. And at Malpeque Oyster Barn, you're eating them just steps from where they're pulled from the water--sometimes within hours. The setting is part of the charm: an old fishing shack that's been turned into a small, inviting dining room with views of the harbour. It's casual and unfussy, the kind of place where the smell of saltwater mixes with the sound of gulls outside. We kept things classic--Malpeque oysters, mussels, and a lobster roll. The oysters were some of the best we had on the island, briny and clean with that signature Malpeque sweetness. The mussels were plump and tender, and the lobster roll came with a side of creamy potato salad (yes, I know, I keep talking about the potatoes--but it's PEI, and they really are that good). It's not just about the quality here--it's about proximity. Eating oysters this close to where they're harvested gives a sense of place you can't replicate off-island. Friendly service, incredible seafood, and an authentic maritime atmosphere make Malpeque Oyster Barn a stop worth planning your trip around.
