The food was excellent as well as the service and it was quite nice to sit on the deck for dinner

The staff were really friendly. We had a late lunch on upper deck. We decided to share a salad , sweet potatoes fries and fish Tacos. Everything was fresh, hot and delicious. The service was great. The view of the water was spectacular. This is a great place to sit on the deck and enjoy a great meal. read more

We came here on a recommendation from some locals. It was a great choice for lunch. Lobster BLT and potato salad was delicious, place was clean and the service friendly. Milkshakes were delicious and a dessert in itself. read more

We had lunch here my first day on PEI, and it was fun. Besides having easy parking on the street and great weather, the Canadian Air Force was giving a show overhead, so we got free entertainment as well. This is a very casual and friendly place, except maybe for the wasps - signs warn you about them. I had the lobster BLT, well, simply because I had never had a lobster BLT before. It's essentially lobster salad on a hamburger roll with bacon, lettuce, and tomato, and I opted to have it served with a salad on the side instead of potato. Other salads ordered off the menu are served in tortilla bowls and with extra pita. They do not serve unsweetened iced tea here. Lunch with a beverage, tax, and tip, came to just under $20. read more

Stopped in for lunch while touring area. Sign directed us to upstairs and we were given our choice of seats inside or out on either of 2 large decks. We chose inside because of the wind. Ordered fried clams w/fries and crab cakes w/caesar salad. Little bit of a wait for food to come - there was a group of 10 and other small parties ahead of us. Wait was worth it. Large, full belly clams, lightly coated and fried to a light yellow brown. Very moist. French fries were done to our liking also (not over fried like so many places do). Crab cakes were good - light crab flavor, not overly loaded with breading, good seasoning. We enjoyed our meal and would order these again. 2 meals w/2 beverages under $40. read more

Pretty good food and great view. Very friendly service. Clam chowder was very good as were the drunken PEI mussels with a good flavour of garlic and wine. Fish cakes were also quite good. read more

Great service. Wife had Fish & Chips (loved it), could not help noticed most people were eating Steak & Eggs at 11:30am; appear it was a special for today. Over heard lots of comments on that GREAT breakfast. read more

Stopped in for lunch. Typical tourist, boring food. The best part of my "Opa Burger" was the bun! Both the meals My wife and I ordered were just frozen processed foods heated up and served. read more

Our apologies up front for posting an incomplete review. It's not complete because we failed to write down our menu choices at the time and have to use our (faulty) memories, which are semi-reliable. Here's what we know: we ate on the covered deck with a view of the harbor, we had a delightful waitress who was not merely friendly but quite attentive (the restaurant was about half-filled as we dined), and we thought the crab cakes and seafood chowder were good. Sadly, we've lost track of the rest of our meal. We thought the tables and wood flooring might have been a bit cleaner. So three stars. For whatever it's worth, this restaurant isn't mentioned in two travel guides we consulted, and its location is misplaced on the Trip Advisor page we examined (TA believes the Deckhouse is not on the harbor). Strange but true..... read more

We found ourselves at the Deckhouse on a warm summer evening just before sunset. We were very glad we arrived when we did because the sunset that evening was stunning and the outside decks of the Deckhouse were the perfect vantage point to snap some photos. We enjoyed a beer while overlooking the marina and dined on the beer battered fish & chips. The portions were of average size but totally filling. The service was prompt, friendly and attentive. read more

This was a nice place to grab a bite to eat. Kind of a no frills joint, we ate upstairs on the balcony. Restaurant has plexiglass on the railing to reduce the chilly evening breeze, which was great! Our waitress was sweet but was a little behind on making desserts for others but that's not a crime. We ordered deep fried and paid the price later. Side salad are pretty huge but I recommend getting a creamy dressing or it will taste very basic. read more

Walked in to the restaurant. Seemed promising. One staff member greeted me and I asked if the deck was opened. She told me yes but it's a little windy. I went out and found a nice spot in the sun, there was a breeze but tolerable. I sat there for 12 minutes waiting for a server to show up with a menu or just start me off with a drink. Nothing. It wasn't that busy that it should take that long for someone to acknowledge a customer that they know is out on the deck and take a drink order or bring a menu. I wasn't in hiding and they have windows all along the side looking out on the deck. Not crazy about the wait time for service that never happened but the location is nice. read more

Great restaurant and pub. It's only open from June-Sept but if you are looking for excellent food, the best view in town, and friendly staff I would highly recommend this place. there is tons of space to sit outside on the decks with a water view. Entertainment on Friday nights draws a good crowd and great music. Prices are very reasonable for portion sizes of food. Lobster BLT is delcious. read more

Went here the other night for dinner. It was opening week for this season. We managed to get a table out on the deck after a short wait at the bar. The deck itself was nothing special, but it was nice to have a view of the water and a bit of a breeze. Service was good - drinks were brought quickly and it didn't take too long for the food to arrive. No ketchup, salt, or pepper on table. I had the Lobster BLT. It was a great idea but I felt it was poorly executed. It was on a long bun with bacon/lettuce/tomato and what seemed to be canned (or maybe frozen) lobster rather than fresh. There were no chunks of lobster like I was expecting. The fries I had with it were ok. Nothing special, but nothing wrong with them. Two of our group had the From Away Burger - one with garden salad and one with potato salad. The burger looked pretty thin and one of the girls commented that she remembered it being more substantial last season. The salads looked decent. One of our group had the nachos - they looked good but had the all too common problem of even topping distribution. The last thing at the table was an order of sweet potato fries - she didn't really comment about them either way so I guess they were alright. read more

Great find! Beautiful views and lovely staff! The food is too notch from the crispy fish to the juicy burgers and generous portions. Great for a cold tall beer on a sunny day! read more

Disappointed by the food and atmosphere. No room on the deck l, terrible music outside. Fatty food plastered with batter.

Ate here while visiting my in-laws on my yearly trek to PEI and was pleasantly surprised by the Deckhouse. I expected a tourist trap, but we got a really decent meal, a great view of the ocean and some very good and friendly service. If you're in the area, I'd say it's your best bet. It may not rank as your best meal ever, but it's good fresh food. Pair what you're eating with a local Island beer, and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. read more

You know when you order fish & chips hoping this is not the place whrre the batter is still raw on the inside? Well this is that place. And the fries were that coated kind - yuck. If you pass this place and select somewhere else you will be happier. The service was fine. The menu is not very extensive. (no hot hamburger) read more

My wife had some great clam. Though we thought the salmon should have been from the Atlantic rather from the pacific.

I got pesto chicken that came on a toll with papers and onions. My wife got a fried haddock sandwitch. Booth came with fries which were very good. The chicken was also good, and my wife loved the fish. The fish was seasoned with curry. The view was also very nice. The only problem was the limited beer selection of two local brews and shock top. The local red ale was very good for a red. Heads up, if it's breezy and you want to sit outside bring a sweatshirt. read more

We were seated in about 20 minutes which gave us time to look a little at the nearby shops. We were midway in and at a bistro table so we had ok views of the harbor. Pops ordered chowder which he said was 'alright' and a Caesar salad that came with bacon, not surprising since general consensus is that 'everything's better with bacon' and it is a pub. I had a lackluster lobster roll except for the really good bread. The server seemed distracted but was attentive. Probably should have ordered pizza. read more

I was terribly disappointed when I visited in July. We arrived around 2 pm and there were only 4 other tables occupied around us. We waited 50 minutes for our fish tacos and lobster roll. Tables that came in after us received their food first and were reassured along the way that their food was coming soon. We were fully ignored. I asked a passing server about our food a few times and they kept saying soon. No apologies, no manager to bring us bread or a snack while we waiting. Nothing. I had to ask for some bread because my blood sugar was dropping and I wasn't feeling well. The bread took so long it arrived after our food, which had taken 50 minutes. It was simply unacceptable. We told them so and we got 20% off our bill. Food should have been free. We almost left, but were too hungry to wait elsewhere. It tasted ok but after this experience, I will not go back. read more

The world wide web defines chicken as: "The meat derived from chickens. It is the most common type of poultry in the world, and is prepared as food in a wide variety of dishes. It is cooked in various manners such as roasted, fried and grilled". This is key here folks....GRILLED! I asked for grilled chicken to top my Mediterranean salad. To my dismay, what was served to me were little cubes of evenly diced white matter. Tasteless, odourless, colourless little pieces of unidentifiable solids which I would not have recognized as being chicken if my life depended on it. McDonalds, as full of of crap as it may be, serves what looks, tastes and smells like chicken. So to the Deck House restaurant, if you can't afford to top your salads with poultry, at least make the substance you CAN afford seem like it or simply remove it from your menu. My husband and I spent $85 dollars in total. $6 of which was for the faux chicken. Needless to say, it's really not about the price but rather the principle that you DO NOT serve such a thing to paying customers. Hell you probably shouldn't serve that stuff to domestic animals and people you dislike. The waitresses were friendly and polite. read more
