The Lost Anchor was easily our favorite place on the island -- nothing else even came close. We showed up on the later side Friday night, and the staff made us feel completely welcome and unrushed. The owners, Denise and Billy, were beyond kind and helped us surprise our friend with a carrot cake dessert for his birthday -- a small gesture that made a big impact. Hailey, our waitress, was an absolute standout: super friendly, knowledgeable, and gave spot-on recs. Every dish we had was fresh and incredible, but the garlic mussels and lobster mac and cheese stole the show. I also loved the seafood chowder, and the risotto balls were irresistible. We loved it so much we came back again! If we had more time, we would've gone a third time. This restaurant is perfect for any occasion and is super well priced. If you're on PEI, this is the place. What a great find! We joined the waitlist upon arrival, but were informed that a large party had just been seated, so there would be a longer wait for food. I appreciated the heads-up and decided to wait. I'm so glad we did. We ordered two types of mussels, crab cakes, truffle fries, and a Caesar salad. Was so happy we found this place while visited in the PEI off season. We originally wanted to eat in Avonlea village but found that all but one restaurant was closed. What a a gem this place was!! The staff was so friendly and the atmosphere was so light and casual. We had our baby with us and they were so great with him as well. Very accommodating and had a highchair for him. The food was absolutely delicious. My husband and I had lobster rolls with truffle fries and wow was it great. The perfect stop to end a picturesque day in Cavendish. read more

Best fish & chips I've ever had. Delicious calamari. I even liked the buffalo cauliflower, and I'm not usually a fan of buffalo sauce. Really great atmosphere. Friendly staff. Two pro tips: (1) Plan extra time. My only "complaint" is the service was so slow that we didn't have enough time to do all we'd planned during our short visit to PEI, but I'm not willing to ding the 5-star rating because everything else was awesome. (2) If you get the fish & chips, save yourself $9 and just get one piece of fish (or share a two piece entree). The fish portions are huge--I would've been fine with just one piece instead two. The food was so so good! Our family of 5 was in PEO for the first time and The Lost Anchor was by far our favourite dining experience.

Visiting from Ottawa, we were looking for the best stop for some fish and chips. We ordered mussels, fish tacos, fish and chips and seafood chowder, and everything was amazing. No notes. Best seafood meal our family has ever had. Excellent service, prices were more than fair -- we don't feel the need to eat anywhere else for our whole trip on the island. read more

Very friendly staff made this stop for dinner delightful. The location was good and near a nice beach. We tried the fish and chips, the French dip (which my daughter said was one of the best that she has had), and the burrito bowl and were happy with each of them. Lobster slider was ok, needed more flavour. The coleslaw they put with it was strange - looked like apple mixed with vinegar.

The food was delicious but the customer service and wait time was horrendous. It took me and my family almost half an hour just to get our orders taken, and we waited in the restaurant for an hour and 45 minutes before getting our food. Our server forgot to put in our order and rarely came to check in on us at the table, it was like we didn't exist for almost two hours. People who came in way after us received full meals while we were still waiting for ours, and they prioritized the people sitting outside over the people sitting inside. read more

We added ourselves to the waitlist while at our nearby accommodations. When we arrived there was quite a group of people waiting but we didn't have to wait long. Our server was friendly and warm. My partner and I both had the seafood chowder which was delicious. When I'd checked reviews online before we went the chowder seemed to come with a homemade biscuit. We both got one slice of baguette with ours which was a bit of a disappointment but otherwise we were happy. My daughter got the children's Mac and cheese which was a good portion of Cavatappi noodles with a nice cheddar sauce. What a great atmosphere for a meal on Prince Edward Island! If you're in the Cavendish area, this is the place to stop for lobster roll and fish and chips. The wait staff was super friendly and it was a nice clean place. If you sit up top on the porch, you can just barely see the ocean, but you can see it. Very nice stop for a family of four. read more

Hey, you have to have mussels when you visit PEI, and these were delicious and large. Quite a sizable helping at a reasonable price. We arrived the last weekend it was open for the season. Server was so gracious and told us what items were still available. Luckily it matched what we wanted and had the best PEI mussels. I just got back from my trip to PEI and I HAVE to write a review. My friend saw that The Lost Anchor has all 5 star ratings across the board on trip advisor, so we decided to give it a try (I'm still trying to convince her to get a Yelp). If you are visiting or live on PEI and are by Green Gables, GO HERE. The owner was extremely nice and asked us if we had questions about the menu, and is one of the best business owners I've ever met. The lobster rolls are huge and jam packed with lobster in a homemade mayo. And you can tell that it's homemade too. I had the lobster roll with the PEI potato salad, which is a salad with hunks of potato on top, and I don't think I can ever eat salad the same again. The owner then brought us out a plate of her homemade donuts with a triple fudge brownie she made that was to die for. We decided then and there we are making the 16 hour journey every year just to go and get the lobster roll and food from the lost anchor because it was that amazing. Lovely evening on PEI CavendishResort Area. Menu ranged from high teens to $32 range. Not a bad selection but most was fried. Having to choose the blackened halibut with whipped garlic potatoes, Swiss char and cannied beets was very tasty and well presented. Everything was cooked to perfect consistency. It was the most expensive item on menu but worth it. Other had fish and chips .....fair batter was to crunchy because too thick. I prefer a lighter batter. The atmosphere was fine and waitress was pleasant but wasn't quite familiar with menu. Had to ask about the veggie served with halibut. Didn't know either. They took over an hour to bring our food and served people who came in 50 minutes after us were served before us and the chicken sandwich was insanely burnt and not edible 0/10 do not recommend. They make you wait over an hour to be seated even though they say 15-20 minutes. There are also a ton of fly inside the building that land on your food and bug you through out the whole time you are eating. The lemonade was just lemon water and the lobster was so cold that you couldn't bite into it. The fries were uncooked. read more

Excellent food, great prices and some of the best service I've received in Canada! I am so happy that I was able to experience this place before leaving PEI. If you're in the area (most likely on a pilgrimage to see Anne or L.M. Montgomery) you have to stop here. The star of this place is their house-made mayonnaise. It's got spices and tomatoes in it, so don't expect Hellmann's. I had it on the delicious Scallop Burger (grilled scallops, island lettuce, bacon and mayo on a potato bun) and got the side of grilled potato salad - also a standout. Grilled PEI potatoes on island greens with tomato, cucumber feta cheese and balsamic vinaigrette. So, so yummy. The scallops were also tender and full of flavor. They really know what they're doing here. Other favorites at the table were the beef burger, fish tacos and the French fries. Anything with potatoes as the main ingredient on PEI is going to be delicious. Don't miss your chance to have some really great seafood while you're in Cavendish. read more

Pretty good fish and chips. They are quite large. Had I known...my husband and I should have ordered the 2 fish plate and shared the fries because we ended up only eating 1/2 the fries and throwing the rest away. The service is great.
