This restaurant is a hidden gem, I have been treated to a five star, if everyone finds this gem it will be hard to get a seat.

We arrived in town today and started looking for a restaurant. This was a great find. As others…read morehave said, it is a family owned business. Our server Brooklyn was wonderful. The food was delicious esp the chowder, lobster rolls, coleslaw, potato salad - wait- that's everything we ate. All wonderful! We are looking forward to returning!

Chose the place based on average reviews. I was not overly impressed. The service seemed to care…read moremore about their convenience than serving the customer. Our group ended up having to sit separately because the waitress was concerned about not being able to walk around a larger table, which seemed unfounded and a concern that was waitress centered rather than customer centered. When asked about closing a window because cold air was affecting some in our party, same waitress said it was not possible because the kitchen needed the air... Well... five minutes later, the customers that took the table near the window simply closed the window to avoid the cold wind... Two for two! Not a great beginning. Ordered seafood chowder and fish and chips. What would you expect? Yes... seafood chowder is served first and once customers are done with it ... you bring the fish and chips. Logical, right? Not here. They brought everything together, which meant the fish and chips got cold while we had the chowder. Third strike... Anything else? Let me say this, the fried fish, in my opinion, was not great. First, you could taste "stale" oil (old oil). This alone turned me off. Second, there was little fish and a lot of breading, I'd say 70% breading 30% fish. So, if you combine oil taste with very thick breading you get what I got. To eat the fish I had to take the breading apart. On a positive note, the seafood chowder was excellent. As Luc B. review pointed out, it is a very basic family and kid friendly setting.

The food was terrible and most likely frozen beforehand. The staff were unfriendly and the prices…read morewere high for such small portions/servings. The place was kind of depressing it was empty and staff were on their phones the whole time. Multiple people came in and left because of the ridiculous prices. The staff weren't doing their jobs as they were sit around and not doing anything while on their phones. Overall do NOT come to this restaurant it was my worst part of my trip to Canada.

Stopped for lunch here at the Cavendish Boardwalk after seeing the AoGG Heritage site. This place…read morewas *hopping* for lunch, which is always a good sign. Our family has to navigate life with a severe nut allergy, so we were impressed when the staff took the time to discuss with us exactly which menu items were made in-house and safe. It's a mom and pop operation, they talked about how hard it was to find consistency and quality from the suppliers during -and after- the pandemic. We were able to find several food options for my son, and for him we ordered fried fish with a side of poutine. He was in heaven. Well, we all were, actually, because the seafood was delish. We even returned later for soft serve ice cream because they guaranteed it was nut-free. My kid has only had ice cream from a commercial restaurant maybe 2 or 3 times in his life, so it was a very rare and welcome treat. We definitely recommend Captain Scott's - both for their food and also for their family's friendliness and service. We love this place. Thank you!

So I am biased but we had a great time here. Not much to look at inside or outside but the prices…read morewere decent. We couldn't go help ourselves with the salad bar during COVID but we could check off boxes of the food we wanted to try and they would bring it to us. Seafood was fresh. Salad bar was decent but not anything special. What made it special was the service. Our server went beyond what he needed to, to make sure that we were comfortable. He was friendly, likeable, fast, and kind. We actually had to hunt him to give him a generous tip because you need to pay upfront at the till for everything. And there wasn't a tip option when we paid. But he did his service above and beyond most of the people we know that serve expecting a tip. What was the was the best was another server. We have a daughter with dual diagnosis. She has Down syndrome and autism. And she doesn't enjoy eating. We got there late, and she wasn't interested in eating so she sat in the middle of the floor. It was a big restaurant with only a few people eating so we left her there. And ALL the staff instead of rolling their eyes as they walked by either waved or said hi. And then there was this lady. Who if anyone reading this knows who she is, please message me. I would like to thank properly. After she was done with her table, she put down her tray and sat and said hi to our girl and copied her movements (she rocks for comfort) and our daughter who doesn't particularly likes to be touched ended up snuggling in for a cuddle. I couldn't pay enough for this experience. And when I was wiping away tears and thanking her she kindly shrugged and said it was nothing. It was everything. And all the servers treated us as well if they served us or not or if they were being tipped or not. Go there on this principal alone.

Probably my favourite place to get lobster on PEI. They have a salad bar that is all you can eat…read more(extra charge), but it's worth it as they have mussels and other goodies. Also their rolls and strawberry shortcake are fantastic! The only downside is the ambiance. It's super loud and generally a lot of kids. If you are looking to avoid that, go for lunch!
