    Relaxation room and pool

A wonderful relaxing spa day! I came to Shibui for a day of R&R with coworkers and it lived up to the expectation! Located downstairs in the Greenwich hotel, Shibui is a little oasis. The amenities are a little spread out but overall great experience. As you enter the spa lobby you'll see a fitness center, followed by the men's/women's locker rooms. There is only one bathroom inside so if it's full at the time of your arrival travel back past the lobby to the main bathrooms. Through the locker room there is an indoor pool and relaxation room. This is filled with lounge chairs and nooks to relax with water/tea and trail mix. If you are having a service your therapist will come here to get you. You are guided back through the locker rooms and the lobby to go downstairs to the treatment rooms. Small touch, but I appreciate the rooms being so quiet and relaxing. You don't wear shoes in the room so you truly can focus on yourself and not all the sound going on around you. Overall, it's a bit pricey for services and I wish everything was a bit more centralized together but it surly delivered relaxation!

Definitely on the pricey side, but definitely worth the experience! The space is beautiful and has a nice ambience, and there are a good amount of amenities in the locker room and pool areas. The treatment was excellent as well. I did the hinoki onsen ritual, which involves an onsen-style bath and a shiatsu massage. There was so much attention to detail through out the treatment, and I felt very well cared for. The staff generally is just too-notch. They were so friendly and really contributed to a relaxing environment. All in all, this a good place to splurge and treat yourself and/or your loved ones!

One of the best spa experiences I've had in a really long time. Step into this tranquil oasis and all your stress will melt away. Shibui is located downstairs of the Greenwich Hotel. Walk in, make a left, right then take the small elevator down one floor. The hotel has an old school charm with a lot of class. The spa gives it a more elegant and slightly modern twist. The spa also offered some amenities before and/or after your treatment like sauna, lounge area and a pool. One of my favorite part was the lounge area. You get to lie down on the comfy lounge chairs and just relax. Wait staff would come around to ask if there's anything you need (tea, water, magazines, etc). Why... yes! I would like a magazine and tea please! He brings me an iPad with all the subscriptions. Wowsers. High tech and super convenient! All this reading material and the internet all at my fingertips! It really felt nice and relaxing. My boyfriend did a lot of research because he knew what I spa fanatic I was and got me a 90 minute Healing Birch massage for my birthday. birch / shea / peppermint / helichrysum birch: reduces inflammation and relieves chronic pain shea butter: softens dry, tough skin and restores elasticity peppermint: clears the mind and enhances concentration helichrysum: increases circulation, promotes production of new cells, uplifts the spirit The massage was heavenly and I really felt all the 'healing'. My therapist worked well at getting me comfortable and made sure to ask what areas to work on more. What I liked about her was that she asked about the pressure to make sure she got it right. Kudos for being considerate. A lot of therapists wouldn't bother. Great little spa for some relaxation. I highly recommend. My only gripe is that it's a bit small.

We've been to spas all over the city and world....and this one is by far our favorite. Got a couples massage followed by a bath - both in a small, beautiful Japanese style hut. There were lots of scrubs and salts to choose from, in a cozy but deep Japanese tub. There's also a pool to relax by afterwards - candlelit almost, with lots of warm and woody but modern decor. Definitely an oasis in the big city.

Yes, as other reviews stated that this place is serene and minimalistic on fancy spa. You enter in quiet place from the busy Manhattan noise. Everyone is courteous from the moment of entry. She set me up with some calming tea and brought me to a private changing area with a locker for my belongings. Everyone in the vicinity checked in to make sure I was doing ok. I was worried that because I had arrived late, I would eat up some of my massage time. No siree! They moved my massage to start when I was ready to begin. I booked the 90 minute Nuansa classic massage. You know how some places start the clock before you've sat down and finish the massage early (aka you pay for an hour and it's only about 45 minutes)? Well! That's not the case here! I got all 90 minutes of my massage. The massage itself: not to be believed. Lukkana started by saying "time to relax". And boy did I. Let me tell you one thing about me - I have the most ticklish legs of anyone I've ever met. Usually, when I have my legs massaged, I kick a hole in the wall and the masseuse files for a lawsuit (this is an exaggeration). Well! Somehow, Lukkana was able to work the muscles in my leg without triggering my dainty ticklish reflexes. I was astonished! Then, you know how sometimes you ask for a firm touch and you get jelly hands? Or the other way around and you're walking out with bruises? WELL - Lukkana made me feel immensely relaxed WHILE ALSO really working the tissue. What a novelty. She finished up with a scalp massage, which is truly the way to my heart. 11 out of 10. Would recommend. Thank you so much for making my day.

He had planned an evening of theatre, but I absolutely enjoy a chill evening+homemade brunch and wellness activities. He's been to AIRE prior, and I've had many massages locally in LA prior and always opt for the hot stone massage, this time couples massage which is what we did. It was cozy, relaxing, decompressing, and aromatic! Esp, on a snowy, 16 degrees outside wintery kinda Xmas holiday season. What a delight! We began our evening walking from the West Village, then upon entering Aire being greeted with warm tea my absolute fav drink besides an iced matcha. We were given wristbands and headed to our keyless entry lockers to robe up and descend into the jacuzzi, sauna, and cold plunge pools. It Feels like entering a gorgeous gothic cave. Strung abt are hundreds of real candles+exposed brick walls. Something we don't have in earthquake prone LA. Truly a romantic, and relaxing ambiance. After the messages, we grabbed our green juices and headed up to shower and dry the hairs on our heads with all the best products and Dyson hair equipment. Not lost on me. Thanks for a wonderful HBD evening, into night. What a beautiful, relaxing, healthy experience. It's the best, truly! Merry Christmas guys.

I've been back to AIRE dozens of time since my original review in 2013 (both TriBeca and uptown,…read morebut mainly TriBeCa location). For the most part, we have always enjoyed our experience - it never felt super crowded and the pools were always nice and relaxing to enjoy, as well as the steam room located in the center of the pools. It's a beautiful space. Massages continue to be mixed however --- my husband always wants a harder massage, while I ask for a lighter touch. He claims they never go as hard as he wants. My last massage there was fantastic. They renovated the space last year, and have run some promos recently and on our last visit it was noticeably more crowded, more than I had ever experienced before. I can only guess it is due to these two factors. We had an hour long massage, which I was extra happy about because I would've been frustrated being in those packed pools for the full 90 mins (massage was good, see above). The steam room was packed, some pools filled with large groups of people, etc. And it was tough finding space at the vanity to get ready afterward, which I'd also never experienced before. Add to this that they were fixing one of the new plunge pools while we were there, and during our massage they twice dropped tools resulting in very loud sounds which echoed into massage rooms which were located nearby. I don't think it was a wise choice to have that work done while guests were there, considering the setting of tranquility they are trying to create. Considering all the above, we have decided to take a break from AIRE, at least the TriBeca location. I brought these issues to the attention of management there and they have apologized with a discount.

Fifteen minutes into our 90-minute couples deep tissue massage, I saw my husband's therapist, Lydia, typing on a lit smartphone while leaning over him. My husband repeatedly asked her to focus on his neck and shoulders and avoid his feet. His requests were ignored. The technique was lazy and mechanical - repetitive forearm circling with little to no pressure, despite requesting deep tissue. He left feeling like he didn't receive a massage at all. When we raised the issue, the owner acknowledged the behavior was "unacceptable" yet offered only a 25% discount - as if actively texting during a massage, ignoring repeated client requests, and delivering a substandard service were minor inconveniences. This wasn't just a bad massage. It was a complete lack of professionalism and accountability. We will not be returning.
