Judith helped us identify the right solar shades for our windows and size them correctly. She custom designed a room-darkening shade solution for our bedrooms that left our mini-blinds intact (so that we could have the privacy from blinds during the day and the sleep-inducing darkness of opaque shades at night), but retains a streamlined look. I cannot recommend her and Monarch more highly.

When I arrived, I noticed the Bethesda Arts Fair and decided to walk around there first. When I returned to the store, my car was gone. It had been towed at the clerk's instruction. Their parking lot was empty, and no customers were at the store. It was a Sunday. When I approached the clerk about why he had the car towed, he did not care and said that all cars are towed if the customers do not come directly into the store. He showed no empathy, nor did he care that it was Mother's Day too. There was no humanity. He spoke to me like a government bureaucrat, following a nonsense procedure. The two were $150, the Uber to get to the towing place in Rockville cost $60, and it took over an hour of our time. With everything happening worldwide, this store's owner should learn how to treat people. Awful customer service.

By no means am I an expert in paints. I've done my due diligence and asked many contractors on…read moretheir opinions on the best brands of paint and 2 brands consistently came up. The first is Sherwin-Williams and the second is Benjamin Moore. While I entertained Home Depot and Lowe's as sources to get home renovation material, I absolutely decided against going that direction after I found out that many products they sell are "builder-grade quality". While that may sound like a fancy term, it is not. Home Depot and Lowe's gets lower quality products in many different categories (e.g., wooden floors, tiles, etc.). I've gotten a very good lesson from a trusted contractor who carefully explained and showed me the differences between the quality of such products sold at Home Depot and Lowe's so I was dead-set on going to Sherwin-Williams to purchase the best paint I could buy. I've been extremely impressed with Sherwin Williams corporate and the staff in store (Clayton and his manager). As you may guess, a wall full of 300+ paint color options makes it extremely difficult for a consumer to choose the right paint in 1 visit. Clayton and his manager guided us through with options and recommendations, which include showing us their mobile app to see the paint color in full decorated settings on the Sherwin Williams website. Clayton guided us through several options (and with a lot of patience) and in the end I was not able to decide what color I wanted. Surprisingly enough, you don't have to commit to a color during your purchase of the paint. You buy a base white paint which then gets tinted. Thanks to Clayton, I was able to take advantage of their 30% sale (last day of the year and it's biannual). I'm really thankful to him for this recommendation. Overall, I've been extremely satisfied at the level of knowledge and customer service at Sherwin Williams. I highly recommend going directly to this store instead of Home Depot/Lowe's. The amount of knowledge (especially if you are experienced) and attention you get is totally worth the visit.

Unfortunately, parking is a bit of a mess, primarily because two of the three entrances for vehicles are located right next to two VERY busy intersections. For one entrance/exit, it's virtually impossible to make a left turn leaving the shopping center, and you can make only right turns for another exit. However, I will not necessarily fault Strosniders for this because these horrible parking situations seem to be pretty standard in this area. It's as if developers throw a million and three stores in a shopping complex without any regard to the parking situation or traffic patterns. Also (as of Jan 2026), the store is dog-friendly.

One day after Thanksgiving on a day perfect for Christmas tree shopping, I saw a pile of lopped off branches. The guy said I could have as much as I wanted for free (or go inside and choose nicer quality bundles of a greater variety to buy.). I filled my trunk with Fraser Fir stems. Was able to make two homemade REAL wreaths this year.
