We're having our kitchen remodeled and spoke with Eddie at the Germantown store. When he visited our home, he took extensive measurements including detailed joist inspections in the basement. When it came time to lay the floor, they removed the old tile. This revealed a problem. The old tiles were not cemented to a tile backer board but rather was directly cemented to a second layer of plywood on top of the subfloor. The 2nd layer of plywood was glued and screwed (w 100s of screws) to the subfloor. This was a completely not up to standards wrt the original installation that was so egregious that it put our initial plan into a "change order" status. It seemed that we were screwed, glued, and tattooed. Eddie stopped by to see it himself. Because the current state of the subfloor could not support our plan, we had to seek alternatives. My wife wasn't happy, Eddie's team wasn't happy, and Eddie wasn't happy. But then Jose, the team leader on the floor project called and said he had an idea. It would be a long dirty job for him and his crew, but he floor could be made installation ready without causing a price bulge. They spent an entire weekend - 10 or 11 hours. The project was saved. The floor was laid. The workmanship was detailed and painstaking. The floor is beautiful. Eddies attention to detail, excellence, customer satisfaction is 5-stars at every phase of the operation. We wanted to replace the Pergo floors in our entry foyer and kitchen, and also to have the original (35 yrs. old) hardwood floors in our living/dining room area sanded and refinished. We wanted to find one company that could do both jobs, and after shopping, talking with and getting estimates from several flooring companies, decided to use Floormax in Germantown. We had first gone to the Floormax in Rockville, and really liked the product they had, but when the salesman did not show up for an appointment to give an estimate (without even calling or apologizing when we did call), we decided to give the Floormax in Germantown a try. We were not disappointed. Despite a few delays in scheduling, the job was actually begun in the time frame we had indicated, and was completed even sooner than we had thought. The salesman, Eddie, was very attentive to checking in on the work in progress and after it was completed. The installers were wonderful and the coordination between the two crews (refinishing and installing) could not have been any smoother. The job was completed in 2 days which was shorter than we thought possible, and we were able to put our house back together! Altogether, we were delighted with the job. read more

Floormax assisted us in preparing our home for a 50-year reunion visit from a group of my husband's out-of-town college friends. Floormax was wonderful in taking care of a variety of mid-smaller range projects to improve our home's appearance and functioning. Rafie (general manager) oversaw the work and coordinated the workers that were needed for the job. Rafie and his workers were responsive and the cost was reasonable. The work included (but was not limited to): 1) Removing our powder room toilet so our plumber could easily replace it, tearing out the old vanity and installing a lovely new one, and painting the bathroom; 2) Replacing an outdoor light on our patio; 3) Painting the entrance above our entry door; 4) Power washing the house; 5) Washing the outdoor windows; and 6) Replacing an old welded door knob on our hall closet. We were extremely pleased with the work and how nice our home looked. I hope we will be able to work with the Company again soon on more work that will inevitably need to be done. Most of the main floor of my house had cherry hardwood floors but three of the rooms were carpeted. The carpeting was worn out and I decided to have hardwood installed in those rooms, also. I Worked with Eddie Tirani at Floor Max as they had a wide selection of hardwoods, but more than that, he helped me to find an exact match to the hardwood floor I currently have. He was very informative, came out to my house with samples and measured the rooms. He was also patient as I said I would purchase the hardwood, but I wanted to wait until after the Christmas holiday. He agreed and didn't bother me during the holidays. After the holidays I went in and ordered the hardwood from Eddie. He took care of everything. Four installers came out to the house and completed the 3 rooms in one day. They were excellent, pleasant, very hardworking, and cleaned up when they were finished. It was a great experience and I would purchase from Floor Max again and ask for Eddie Tirani to assist me. read more

Our experience with Eddie and the Floormax team was absolutely top class. He guided us through the product selection professionally and patiently. He was completely transparent with the measurements and estimation. Work started promptly as planned but an issue arose with the humidity level in the basement that interfered with the glue. Rather than ram through with the work, Floormax communicated the issue clearly, provided their own dehumidifiers to reduce the water content, and rescheduled the work to allow time for this to happen. They even prepared an alternative solution involving another special protective layer between the floor and the tiles in case the water content did not go down. It turned out that the dehumidifiers did their job perfectly. The team came back and finished the job beautifully. We are extremely satisfied with the professionalism and care with which Eddie and team took care of the job. It could not be more obvious that they take pride in their work. read more

My Pergo floors are beautiful. FloorMax Germantown dealt well with the unexpected in an old house: leveling the floors and replacing old damaged baseboard. I loved the selection at their store, only the best quality products, and the advice I got from Eddie at the store. He was so much more helpful than the big box places like Floor and Decor or hardware stores. He came out twice to our home to go over details prior to installation, and was always available by cell phone as we planned the installation: we had to delay the installation due to prior subfloor problems and the warehouse was very patient and held our materials while we got other work done. Be sure you call ahead and/or make an appointment to visit the store, because the folks at the store make many home visits and sometimes are not there. We considered using them for wood floor refinishing as well, I am confident they would have done an excellent job, but we decided to go with a lower quote for that work. read more

We spent lots of time in the big box stores and found that the prices were not all that great, selection limited and customer service non-existent. We decided to see if the local Floormax had anything more to offer. We stopped by one night and met Eddie. He was very helpful from the beginning. We told him what we wanted. He stopped by the house to understand our needs. He gave us some very good guidance and advice, and took the time to understand our style. He recommended the wood that turned out to be perfect for our needs and helped us find the right solution for our stairs. I can't say enough about the installers. Samuel is awesome! So professional and so much attention to the details. We really love the way it turned out. There is one small defect in one of the planks and they are taking care of the replacement. I had a really great experience with Eddie and his installer Jose. They showed up when they said he would, and the installers took their time to complete my ceramic plank tile installation in our kitchen. Eddie checked in on the job a few times to see how it was going. They wore masks the whole time which was very respectful despite everyone being vaccinated. Growing up in the floor covering industry, they did the install the right way, didn't cut any corners... There were a couple of follow-ups I asked for after the job was complete, and they came a few days later and addressed them. Also, they did some amazing ceramic inlaid vent coverings that are very custom matching the tile. Finally, very competitive from a pricing perspective as compared to others. We have dealt with Floormax in the past to carpet our basement and had a very good experience, so we decided to use Floormax again to carpet our second floor bedrooms. When I visited the showroom in Germantown, Eddie showed me carpet samples of what I had in mind and within our price point. He graciously carried out some selected samples to my car to view in our home environment. He came by our home at our convenience to measure, answered all of our questions, and then it was GO for install! The installers were fantastic--no marks on our freshly-painted walls, our furniture was moved with great care, everything was cleaned up both inside and outside, and our new carpet was vacuumed. My new Meridian vinyl plank floor was just completed this afternoon and I have nothing but praise for Floormax, my sales rep Eddie Tirani, and Samuel and the installation crew. I first went into the Germantown Floormax a few months ago to start this process and have been treated extremely well from start to finish. I feel that Eddie has looked out for me and my home and his recommendation for flooring was not the most expensive of the options he gave. We had a outstanding experience with Floormax in Germantown. We replaced the entire second floor carpet with Hardwood. Eddie was there from the beginning until the final day.
