This is my third time using Floors on 14th and I've consistently had great service with them. This time they did a partial carpet replacement and installed LVP, which they recommended after assessing my wood floors. This was not an option I had considered before, but I took their recommendation and was very pleased with the result. In 2013, we initially contracted with Floors on 14th for a rug and to install carpeting in 2 bedrooms and on a stairway. The quality of the carpet material has been incredible and remains looking great 13 years later. Consequently, in 2025 we again contracted with them to install solid maple flooring in our 2500 Sq. Ft. apartment, removing badly worn, engineered flooring. The result is fantastic, the professionalism was top notch, and the cost likely will be fully recovered when we eventually resell. They also, at no additional charge, corrected a problem with one of the 13 years old carpets. I recommend them highly and would not hesitate contracting with them again. read more

Do not work with Floors on 14th. Kaveh cannot communicate effectively, has no work ethic, and does not care about the quality of his work product. I have reported this company to the BBB because they lied to me about their capabilities, did an extremely bad job replacing half of my living room floor with wood that did not match, broke things in my house that were not broken, and left a gigantic mess of wood dust/splinters, and seeping glue. Carlos came to my house to see the work product and agreed with me that it was bad quality and incomplete. No person on this earth would be satisfied with a job where half of the wood in their living room doesn't match the other half and they're left with a huge mess to clean up. Kaveh also came and looked at the work product. He was incredibly dismissive of my concerns and his solution was to buy more wood (from a totally different lot!) to try to complete the job in the living room. I, as the customer, had to be the one to noice the wood from the first and second jobs were from different lots. I was put in a position where, had I let Floors on 14th continue the work, I could have had an even worse situation - 3 types of wood in one room that didn't match. Every single interaction I had with Kaveh decreased my trust in his ability to complete the job correctly. Kaveh pressured me to put the downpayment for the first lot of wood on my own credit card and to go around my insurance company. Learn from my mistake and never do this. Kaveh took advantage of me as a person doing a home renovation for the first time. He charged me for the full amount of the job because he had my credit card information and he could. He left me in a precarious situation where I had to go find a new contractor to finish the job, and he charged me 5k for work that could never be finished and he would not be proud to have in his own house. On top of that, Kaveh lied about me in his response to the BBB complaint - this is a person with no moral compass. He's only out there to protect himself and does not care about his work product or his customers. I would be fired from my job if I treated any of my clients the way Kaveh treated me. read more

The selection is great, and Kaveh was very helpful, helping me choose something in between that looks great but cost less than other estimates I had received. His team was very professional and they did a great job. They helped me move my furniture and covered large pieces so they don't get dirty during the renovation. Floors on 14th are the best! This is my second time using them and both times were 5 stars out of 5. 10 out of 10. The first time was for a stair runner. Nicely bound edges, and they handled the small landing and turn at the top of the steps beautifully. It was securely installed. Still beautiful today (and neither my dog nor I have slipped on the steps since installation). Now present day, I had my second great experience. ****THE RUG ITSELF: It's a beautiful animal motif, really high quality fibers and dense pile, so the rug feels plush and a bit silky, and really high quality. I put it on a ¾ inch pad and it feels so nice on my feet. ****DELIVERY AND INSTALLATION: The delivery guy helped me roll it out and get it exactly lined up over the pad and centered in the room. Super nice and patient. ****SHOWROOM AND SELECTION: Kaveh the owner and his nice pup were available for questions (Which ones don't have any wool? How much would an 8 x 10 rug be?) and patiently let me look incessantly through all of the offerings. I must say also, the brands and designs they carry offer a wide range of selection, many interesting textures and patterns, and all seem seem high quality. ****ORDERING: I wanted an 8 x 10.5 foot rug, with the animal pattern's "repeat" going across the width of the rug, not the length. I described and diagramed this for Kaveh over phone and email, and the rug was completed just as I wanted it. I only described the binding to him verbally and had him select the color with only general guidance to use binding to go with the brown tones of the rug rather than the creams. I loved working with Floors on 14th for my entire one-bedroom apartment. Initially I hired them to do my bedroom, and once that was completed, I simply HAD to do the rest of the apartment because of the fantastic job they did. The business was recommended by a friend of mine and she couldn't have a better experience as well. I stopped in and spent 45 minutes chatting with the sales associate learning about the different types of woods and "character" types. I am a pretty indecisive person, so I was trying to gather as much information as possible. The sales associate understood my preferences pretty quickly and showed me a couple of different woods that fit the design and energy I was going for. The knowledge, support and 1:1 attention meant a lot to me. In fact, I loved learning from and spending time with the sales associate and owner so much that I came to the store three times to look at different woods and determine what I wanted. They helped me at every step - and were very patient! Once I decided on a wood, the installation was pretty easy and smooth. I was always in contact with the owner and the installation team. The work itself was wonderful. It came out better than I could have imagined. I am so pleased with the results - it completely transformed the space. I initially hired Floors on 14th to do a full install of new hardwood flooring in addition to some bathroom renovations. After signing a contract, my girlfriend and I decided to increase the scope of work and ended up hiring a general contractor. I asked Kaveh if he would be okay with simply providing the materials and have my contractor take on the installation, which he was more than willing to accommodate. I was worried at first because I had already provided a deposit ($17K) well in excess of the cost of the flooring ($7K). Kaveh promptly refunded me what was owed without hesitation. Extremely happy with our experience with Floors on 14th, and with Kaveh, the owner. We have a particularly tricky situation, as we have a recording studio beneath the kitchen, and were looking to beef up sound abatement. We record audiobooks (www.katereadingaudiobooks.com) Kaveh came out to look at our floor, which had been damaged by a flood, and listened patiently, making great suggestions throughout the process. We ordered Jelinek cork plank flooring direct from the company, since we needed extra cork. Other cork planks have thinner cork layers, and thicker fiberboard. The Jelinek cork planks are superior to all the others we looked at. We also added a 1mm underlayment to go beneath the 1/4" Quiet Cork underlayment, for more sound abatement. There is a ridge between the old part of the kitchen (1928 house, not too level) and the new addition. My husband figured out a way to use strips of 1/8" cork underlayment to step down from the ridge, to make it more level. Kaveh and the crew accommodated every one of our suggestions, and were pleasant and helpful throughout. The crew: Amilkar, Guillermo, and Antonio were fantastic. They did an excellent job. Above and beyond. Amilkar took great care with the thresholds, which all needed adjustments for the slightly higher floor,, and they look great. He and Guillermo were very careful not to scratch the floor while replacing the appliances. Amilkar took care with the reconnection, and it all seems fine. The floor looks beautiful, and more importantly seems to be quieter in the studio below. The step down process for the ridge worked excellently. There is no discernible bump any more. Miguel, the supervisor, was great at communicating and managing details. We had Bona Traffic HD applied after the appliances were replaced (our choice). Jelinek recommends one coat for cork flooring in kitchens. Jeffrey and Danny did a great job with that. Communication every step of the way is important: you will be the fulcrum for the different crews arriving - as with any renovation - so jump in, ask questions, make sure everyone knows the details of the project. YIKES! As others have noted, Kevah and the woman who answers emails are pretty unprofessional.  They are careless with details (and they like to blame each other; how convenient!). And do not even think of asking questions.  It's then that you realize Kevah never saw your messages with the email answerer.  You would think he would apologize or at least try to find the message.  Instead, he gets aggressive and says he has "plenty of clients." I guess he's too busy to treat people with respect. read more

Once the wood was ordered and arrived, the job itself only took half a day. I'm glad I was able to support this local business, and would recommend them in the future for anyone in the DMV area. Do not use these guys they are terrible. I had new sub floors and flooring installed and it ended up with squeaks, streaks, nail holes and spotty finish everywhere. This is after 11 months of working with them on a job job that should have taken 2 weeks. I had to have all the furniture removed from the house so the could finish them again. The first time they didn't sand the floors!!! They did come back about 15 times but their sub contractors are terrible. This is the worst experience I have ever had. I wont' even go into all the extra charges they stuck me with for work that was never completed and material that was never purchased. In total I spent and extra $10,000 on additional material because their work need to be ripped out and redone. After guaranteeing me that floors would not squeak they ended up speaking in 8 different spots over just 2,000 square feet. They finally just gave up and told me to live with it. For you sanity please do not use them. The owner is a nice enough guy but the trouble it will cause you could never be worth it. read more

What a great experience I just had with floors on 14th. Kaveh got back to me so quickly when I originally reached out and made an appointment within days. The price was completely reasonable and they had the stairs measured and a runner installed within a week. The guys installing were friendly, mask-wearing on time (actually early) and did just a great, super quick job. This is a review that has been sitting in my drafts for at least three years--so take it as a review of Floors on 14th as of 2018 or so. I was renting a place that needed carpeting done in the basement just when we were moving in; our landlord chose Floors on 14th. Our experience was not great. The main issue was that the installers of the carpet spoke seemed to know little about the details of the job. Initially, we planned for them to install it when we had yet to move in. For whatever reason, they could not make that timeline and wanted to come measure on the day we were moving in (which in and of itself was fine). They assured us that it would not take long, and that they could come in the morning before our movers arrived so as not to be in the way. They did not arrive until that evening. To accommodate the carpet installers, we said that we could move all of the non-large items upstairs, giving them a relatively clear space to work in the basement. I own four large bookshelves worth of books, or about 30 boxes, so this was quite an inconvenience. Nevertheless, it seemed worth it as we were leaving for vacation, which meant that they would be able to install the carpet in a relatively empty basement for the next week. But then they delayed and delayed, and eventually, could not do the job until AFTER I moved all my books downstairs. The job they did also had its flaws. The style of carpet our landlord chose doesn't sit flush against the walls, but leaves about 4 inches of space (I guess it is technically a rug). It seems that they mis-measured one of the walls, because the rug comes in significantly more than it does in other spots. When they began the installation, they also realized that two of the doors would not fit above the rug, and called me down to ask what to do (I, again, told them to call the owner). read more

Back in 2015, we couldn't decide whether we would re-do our condo with carpet or wood flooring, so we wanted to talk to someone who did both. They were very patient in explaining our options and the relative costs. It took us several months to decide on which -- and then another couple of months to select our choice. The scheduling and installation was twice as easy as we expected. It all came out great -- and at exactly the price estimated. Would definitely recommend. It was a bonus that we could walk over and browse anytime rather than to have to go out to the burbs. Now fast forward to 2019. On returning from our vacation this summer, we arrived to find that the upstairs neighbor had a leak in their ac unit and water had been running into out place for more than a month......ceilings damaged, plaster walls cracked -- and the carpet and wood floor underneath both wet and ruined. Floors on 14th suggested that instead of just the floors and carpet, they take care of the whole thing. Not only did they do it in a week....but it was AMAZING. On time, on budget, nice workers, careful with our stuff. Truly great. The weirdest thing is that we got the identical floor and carpet--so that when it was done it looked like absolutely nothing had changed from when we left this summer. Kaveh the owner, was very customer service oriented and made sure workers arrived and were doing a good job on the day of my scheduled job. My floors look great now and the workers were accommodating in that they did my new floors with all my furniture kept in the house just moved it around from room to room. All the finishing touches were done immaculately and they also cleaned up as best as they could after they were done. 5+ Stars. Look no further for a flooring company. My wife and I met with Kevah and from the start, he was very outgoing and easy to talk with. My wife's father is in the flooring company so after fact checking the quote he gave us, I found that it was very very reasonable in the cost category. We were on a very tight timeline to get the job done because we had closed on the condo and elected to live for a week in a hotel so the place could be empty to get the floors done. Kevah said no problem, but in my experience with contractors, I was not convinced. I should have been this time. Kevah owned the timeline and got the job done early so we could move into our new home. More about that later. On communication, Kevah was VERY responsive via email and text to answer questions and coordinate the crew. He was never unavailable and having that type of responsiveness quelled all of our concerns on the job getting done. The crew was outstanding. The old floors were glued down with some sort of massive gorilla glue epoxy resin that maybe was used to glue tiles on the space shuttle. It was miserable stuff to get up and took a very long time, but the crew was committed and worked their tail off to get the old floors and glue up. Can't say enough here, they were awesome. The new floors, went down without issue and the installers were proficient and efficient on complicated cuts. Bottom line, the new floors look better than we could have ever imagined. Oh, the same crew did an amazing job painting the entire condo and doing minor dry wall repair from all the holes I created to hide AV wires and such. Again, go see Kevah at his store on 14th and you will not be disappointed. He represents a vast spectrum of flooring products, the pricing is reasonable, and he is committed tot he schedule he will give to you. read more

As this review states for two-star service; "Meh, I've experienced better". I'll get right to the point. The owner will always answer his phone and is very attentive to accomplishing his tasks, however, what lacks is his workforce and their lack of timeliness to get to the work site - a disconnect. The owner may schedule a time but his staff will continuously show up late. They will blame traffic or blame the necessity to pick up equipment as their excuse for being late. Unfortunately, this happened more often than not. Additionally, and more concerning, is the owner's willingness to argue with a customer. Even when he knows he's wrong. As the example states above regarding timeliness; the owner stated to me that his crew would be at my home at a certain time only to show up two-hours late. This happened three times. I called the owner only for him to argue that he couldn't be blamed for the traffic patterns or that equipment needed to be picked up prior to the job. As a laymen, I don't understand how you can't calculate traffic into a commute or why the proper equipment isn't already purchased or already rented the day prior? This is just poor planning. I argued with the owner for 10-minutes in disbelief, but that's what you get for expecting exceptional service - A huge let down. As for the work that was finally done, I give 3-stars. The job lasted longer than expected and that was because his crew only worked for 4-5 hours the first couple of days instead of the full 8. I don't know why this was; they just decided to leave early. I would recommend Floors on 14th, but just know what you're getting into and be weary. There is no accountability for timeliness and the owner will argue with you. Two-stars for customer service failure. read more

They showed up exactly on time and finished ahead of schedule. They made note of special requests, and after the job was complete, when I notice a few things were a bit off, they came back to the house right away to make adjustments. I appreciate that Kaveh didn't try to up-sell me, and loved the professionalism of the crew. Amazed that there was absolutely NO DUST in the house after they sanded. So, I had a major flooring job completed in my two story DC row house a couple of years ago. The floors were in awful shape and we had to remove two layers of flooring, fix and level the joists, install the subfloor, and then install new wide plan flooring. Kaveh and team provided the best pricing for the job (despite my original misgiving that he would be more expensive since he is located right on 14th) and it was awesome that they could do a full service install -- not just the best pricing on the floors but also the best pricing on labor for a fairly substantial job. Service was impeccable and Kaveh and Miguel were responsive, polite, and efficient. Goes to show sometimes you can still get convenience and a good price at the same time! And just this week I had an issue where a kitchen floorboard needed to be moved so the dishwasher could be repaired. I called Kaveh and he was extremely accommodating and managed to have somebody come over this morning to take care of the issue at no charge and in time for thanksgiving. My experience was a long but great one. I started my flooring journey by going to multiple flooring vendors in the DMV and comparing products and pricing. I was a bit intimidated by Floors on 14th because of it's location, but this shouldn't be the case for anyone because I had a wonderful experience working with the team. I ordered floors and they were back ordered so I decided to wait for them to come in. The team kept me up to date on if there were any updates about the floors, which made me feel confident that they really cared about my flooring project even though it is just for a small Washington DC apartment (600 sq ft). The floors were back ordered for about a year in which I gave up and went back to Floors on 14th where they had chosen all comparable products to walk me through and allowed me to take home to see how they looked in the space. When the floors came in they turned it around immediately and installed exactly what I needed. This included installing on an angle in the room, installing horizontal in a room, and custom baseboards. Everything was done to perfection and I absolutely would work with them again. TERRIBLE customer service. I requested a quote, scheduled a time only to be cancelled on 10 mins before they scheduled time. So I rescheduled and they showed yo almost 30 mins late with not so much as a courtesy call. The gentleman who measure the rooms said I would get an estimate the following day. 2 days later I call and am told I have to pick out wood. I said I am not familiar witht he process and want an idea of how much the labor would cost and said can you give me an estimate with multiple options. The rude staff said that not how the business works. I asked for a manager or owner. She said they don't have one and hung up on me. I called back and asked for her name, she said she doesn't have one and hung up on me. SERIOUSLY?!?!? How does a business function with staff like this? read more
