I'd highly recommend District Floor Depot, which executed the carpet removal for my new townhome impeccably. They left everything clean and went above and beyond, even including another small task relating to a loose floor tile. The pricing for the carpet removal is very competitive when comparing to other companies. Speaking for other people who don't know yet what's under the carpet in the house they bought, I'd recommend just going with District Floor Depot as a first step to remove the carpet then get quotes from all the other companies once the carpet is removed, which would be more accurate anyways. All flooring companies incorporate a labor fee for carpet removal (it's a whole day job) in their quotes and this item will be taken off once completed. Mario was the sales associate I interacted with and he was very knowledgeable despite being a relatively young guy and professional. I am in love with my new floors and impressed with how quickly the District Floor Depot team was able to meet my tight timeframe with quality work. I was exploring two other options from referrals that fell through at the last minute. I checked Yelp, and saw the stellar reviews for District Floor Depot. Stopped by on a Sunday afternoon and Rene patiently walked me through engineered hardwood options. He came out bright and early the next morning to measure and provide an estimate, which was well below other quotes I'd received. I got the "Santee" wide planks from Naturally Aged Flooring. It was in stock and on sale; while I liked the sample, I love the final result. The team arrived on time and completed the work in two days. Everything was meticulously cleaned up, but would have loved for them to do a final Swiffer to pick up the last layer of dust on the new floor. They called me partway through the job to let me know they found water damage, and clearly explained where it was, what was needed to fix it, and how much it would cost outside of my original estimate. Would have loved an email after installation with a note about floor care--that's about the only I'd suggest they could work on. I hired District Floor Depots and from start to finish- it was a 5 star service. A representative came out quickly and provided a thorough quote and it was 10% less than another quote I received. My husband and I ended up returning to the store to check out the other samples/colors of luxury vinyl to make sure we liked the color. 2 weeks later they were installing luxury vinyl in my basement. They arrived promptly at 8am and stayed until 5pm but were able to finish it in 1 day. They did a terrific job on the floor and stairs and even cleaned up after they completed install. A week later I received a $10 Starbucks gift card thanking my for hiring them. This is definitely a solid business. Our upstairs neighbor had an issue with her washing machine, which ultimately meant that I had an issue with flooding. I went to District Floor Depot because of the positive yelp reviews, and am so happy I did! The quality and selection of flooring are the best at District Floor Depot as compared to any of the big boxes (Seriously, even the big warehouses. District Floor Depot just has more selection). But more than just the product itself, it's the people that make this a winner for me. From the moment you walk in, they are as helpful (or not helpful) as you want, and seem genuinely interested in you and your project. The first time I went in, they walked me through all things flooring: solid hardwood, engineered hardwood, laminate, vinyl and the pros and cons for each. Once we had narrowed down what I wanted, they took the time to explain each wood choice: which ones would show scratches more or less easily, which came from sustainable sources, how different stains might look in smaller places versus larger places, natural versus shade lighting on the woods and how that would impact their long-term longevity. They also told me which of the engineered hardwoods had a thick enough veneer that they could be refinished if I ever wanted to do so. They looked at photos of my home and helped me narrow down my choices based on my preferences and home style. All of this took time, and patience, and a willingness to listen and (honestly) to be really kind with a homeowner who suddenly is looking at a home makeover they didn't plan for or necessarily want. I went back again to finalize my choice once I knew what insurance would actually cover, and a separate set of people were at the helm. This could have been terrible and meant that I had to go over everything all again, but not only was it super easy to fill them in on what I already knew and wanted and had to decide on, but they immediately jumped into helping me where I was. Everyone I talked to was just overwhelmingly kind, knowledgeable, and easy to talk to and ask questions. I ended up deciding on flooring I had previously not given a second glance because the people helping us showed me pictures and helped me visualize what it would actually look like (and pointed me towards it). Would recommend going elsewhere. I had my floors done in a small studio. Seemingly simple. I was told the work would take one day to complete. It took two full days even though someone came out to see the work that needs to be done in person. When they left on day two they told me they were finished, however, one of my closet doors didn't close without pulling the baseboard off, there is a chip in one of the floor panels they put in, and the baseboards were cut incorrectly so they do not line up and are not flush with the walls. Pictures for reference. I called and they came back to fix my closet. They told me they would not be cleaning or replacing the baseboards that did not line up because "thats just the way they cut them". Instead, they would be caulking to fill the very large gaps. When I asked about cleaning the baseboards because there are marks literally everywhere, they told me they are not a painting company and those marks would go away when I painted. Extremely disappointed with the work that was done, and the lack of communication. Still waiting on that call to come fix the chipped plank. There were other issues as well. If you want a massive migraine, multiple days off work, and to micromanage your own construction project, definitely use them. read more

On a scale of 1 to 5, I would rate District Floor Depot at a zero. The cherrywood flooring I wanted to replace some damaged flooring was supposed to have a variety of colors. After going through the whole order, I discovered that all of it was a single color. I was told I waited too long to return it so they wouldn't give me credit and their reasoning was that Home Depot only allows a 30 day period to return purchases. Do they really base their policies on another company? I've taken items from Home Depot back 6 months after I purchased them and received a refund. I never thought I could afford to have new hardwood floors in my home until my friend Gail recommended I check out District Floor Depot in DC. The selection was impressive and the prices were even better than I imagined. Still, installation is a different story... after seeing Gail's floors, I could tell District Floor Depot was the real deal and I enlisted them to replace our old damaged maple floors with gorgeous new wide-plank white oak. The results were amazing! The crew had our entire 2-level condo completely finished in 3 full days and the floors were expertly installed. Mani was incredible in answering my many questions and overseeing the job. This is an honest company with awesome prices and workmanship. I live a block away from District Floor Depot and am an ANC commissioner for the neighborhood so I really, really, really wanted to work with them do redo the floors in our home. This is our first time as home owners and we bought our home (with white carpets!!!) knowing they wouldn't last long with our dog, cat and kiddo. I stopped by the showroom ready to ask lots of questions about how to find the right floors for our home. I kind of knew that Vinyl flooring would be the most practical but I had no idea between all the different kinds of VPF. I was really disappointed to find when I went in, I was told "they are all the same" and when I asked questions about which might be best for our space (old home with an extension and lots of windows but kind of small) and was still told, all the options are the same. Dark, light, WPC, SPC - all exactly the same. Obviously that didn't make sense to me (especially given the price difference) so I went home and did my research (turns out, there are lots of differences!) and narrowed it down to CoreTec flooring as the best fit for us. When I went into the store and said I'd like to price out CoreTec, I was first really dissuaded from the brand (because they are so back ordered it would take a year) and then when I asked for a quote and timeline on specific colors, I was told they would get back to me and never did. When I asked if they had samples of the colors I was interested in, I was told it would be easier if I just went through the manufacturer and paid for their samples. Despite all of that, I was STILL ready to put my card down and schedule the installation but was completely ghosted. It has been three weeks and I've still never heard back from someone from District Floors. Since then, we reached out to Metro Floors who not only had a fantastic team and gave us a great price - but we already have our new Coretec floors installed and couldn't be happier. I'm so bummed to have to leave this review as I really want to support all community small businesses, especially those in Brookland but unfortunately, there were so many things that went wrong with District Floors, I can't recommend them to others looking for a partner to help with their new floors. read more

Needed to replace some parquet tiles in my condo. The parquet is original from the 80's and still in good condition so I preferred to replace the damaged tiles instead of replacing the whole floor. Arrived at District Floor Depot without expectations since I had struck out at other flooring places. The staff was so helpful and found exactly the tiles I needed based on just a photo of my floor. The tiles are only sold in cases, so I got more than I needed, but it was not terribly expensive - less than I expected - and now I have back up tiles for the future. I will definitely go to District Floor Depot for any future flooring projects. read more

I got two other estimates from well known commercialized companies that spoke of big sales on hardwood and installation but gave outrageous estimates and refused to give a breakdown of cost. If your prices are fair then you should be able to give cost of material separate from installation and the customer can decide if it's reasonable...District Floor Depot did exactly this. I expect quality work and am willing to pay a fair price...always. I am totally satisfied. My room is a little under 300sq feet and they tried to charge me twice what everyone else charges for vinyl planks. My floors look amazing that were done by 301floors. The guy from District kept texting and calling and i said thanks but no thanks I don't want to use you and he kept trying to rip me off and convince me of this outrageous price. I used District Floor Depot again for new hardwood floors in my 1100sqft 2 bed / 2 bath apartment in Georgetown and they somehow out did themselves! Mani could not have been more helpful! I was on a compressed timeline and Mani did everything he could to accommodate, including dropping the flooring off to get it acclimatized to my apartment the same day I signed the contract. The install team removed 1100 sqft of parquet in 1 day, and then installed 1100 sqft of hardwood and baseboards in 1 day. Even after working with DFD previously, I was very impressed. Mani also demonstrated some design chops. After giving him a description of the light in my apartment and showing him the color of the kitchen and bathroom floors Mani made a flooring recommendation. I was inclined to go with a different hardwood but went with Mani's choice, and man I was glad I did! He saved my butt!! The floors are stunning and look far better than the floors I would have chosen. The install team was extremely fast and efficient with lots of attention to detail and going above and beyond to make the final product polished. So go with DFD. They could not be better at what they do and they can even bail you out when you design sense goes awry. read more
