Came in here to get paint samples. I quickly saw there paint chip samples and palettes/brochures were dismally lacking. I went up to the counter to get help and the two people working the store proceeded to help 4 customers who came in a row after me. I'm not sure if it was because I was the only female or just too polite. I will not be coming back. The store is also an OSHA mess. I will saw the two people working the store seemed nice. Wish we chose a different location to go to instead of Encintias. We talked to the only employee in the store about buying sample sizes of multiple colors. After we spent 30 minutes picking out colors, he told us they didn't actually have any sample sizes of paint in stock and by then it was too close to closing time to go to the Carlsbad location. I have an account at Sherrington Williams in Encinitas. I'm not a painter just like to paint a room here and there. Right at the beginning of the Covid-19 outbreak I decided to paint my hallway. I called the store to see if it was open for business. The phone was answered by the rudest employee ever. She would not answer my questions, even though they were about sheens. Not rocket science. I wasn't even sure if she got the order right because she could not stand to talk to me. Someone else called about five minutes later to check my order. She was very nice. When I went to pick up the paint I knew immediately who the terrible employee was because she was standing there sneering at me. I asked her her name and she said Terrin (rhymes with Sharon). I don't know how to spell it obviously. She has super short brown hair. Anyway, I asked he how she could work in the service industry, and if she thought it was smart to be SO rude to customers, especially during this terrible time. She just laughed and said she wasn't worried, that she was "in management." If that's true I feel very sorry for your company. I never write reviews, and waited a couple weeks to write this one until I was less angry. But I am still angry and will never go to that store again. This rating is based on the material, not the employees! 8/16/17 Material report for Sherwin Williams Pro Classic Waterborne Acrylic Enamel Color: SW1019 Gray Statue Store address: 208 N Elcamino Real, Encinitas, CA I am a 47 year veteran painter and have experience with many manufacturers' coatings. During a recent job which was specced by the home owner and their decorator, the choice was SW Pro Classic for the enamel trim; doors and moldings. I went to the store and was assured that this was a high end product with excellent performance. Based on the following report, I would only use SW products if forced to by the client. The initial test for the trim was denatured alcohol to determine water based existing enamel. This proved true with movement ot the top coat and color upon wiping. The prep then was sandinng and cleaning. The coverage required double coating with 24 hours between coats. Within the first day, there was signifacant evidence that the colorants were skinning at the bottom of the roller pan. I adressed my concerns with the home owner and the manager at the SW store in Encinitas. Although the staff was curtious, there was no reccommendation or acknowledgment of a problem or solution by the manager. Moving forward, it should be noted that the door moldings were also being painted in Pro Classic with the color SW 7008 Alabaster. Within the first week, the doors seemed succeptable to damage with any scuffing. Scratches were becoming apparent where homeowners were using the doors with normal use. However the door moldings were not reacting negatively in any way. I addressed this, once again with the SW store manager and was told that they had never heard of anything like this and thus, was not given any advise. The manager did provide an 800 number for "Product Hotline". I called this number, 800-331-7979, and was told that this is not a problem in their experience. I asked for the cure time of the product and was told 7 days. The initial painting of the doors was completed 6/22/17. As of today, the doors are still succetable to scratching with normal wear. This is not a batch problem as, during the duration of the job, we changed materials in small increments and there were several batch numbers used. My belief is that the Pro Classic base material for the SW 1019 Gray Statue does not blend with the colorants and thus the product does not cure. There is partial adhesion, but after two months the top coat is still soft and vulnerable. read more

Buyer be ware. Sherwin Williams online ordering systems is flawed. It seems convenient to order your paint online, and has a promise of being contacted when its ready. This isn't true, I waited for notification of being ready, it never came. I then called to cancel the order since it wasn't ready, the store manager told me, sorry but I had agreed to purchase it online and he won't refund the money, even thought they failed to live up to their end of the transaction. For premium pricing, you get sub par service. read more

We came here looking for wallpaper. We had visited a store closer to home and were told that most stores no longer carry wall coverings. Well that doesn't seem smart as Wall Coverings are "on trend" right now. The store is roomy and has space to spread out the wallpaper books, and there are lots of styles to choose from. We wanted something contemporary and there wasn't as much choice there, but we still found something we liked. Not sure whether it would fit in with our space we were able to check out the sample book for a $25 deposit. Refundable if we return it within a week. Staff were friendly and they have restrooms and coffee, helpful if your decision process is a belabored as ours was. read more

I will not come back to this place. When I walked in the store, there were multiple employees and 2 customers. I was not greeted. I went to the back tables, and got to looking through the wallpaper books. After a few minutes, the other customers had left...and for a while, I was the only one in the store...but Still, no greeting or an offer to help me find what I was looking for. I stayed nearly 2 hours (I had no idea wallpaper searching could take SO long!), other customers came and went, but not once was I greeted or helped in any way. Completely ignored. The absolute funniest part about my visit is when I heard 2 female employees talking about customer service. One was complaining about how she had went to Happy Hour the night before at a restaurant and did not have proper service...something about how she wasn't properly greeted at the door. Their conversation went on as they were saying how no matter how busy it gets, you should always say hello to customers. I KID YOU NOT!! They were too busy complaining to see this was EXACTLY what they were doing to me!!! When I left, one of the girls made eye contact with me. Thanks for coming in? Nope. Have a nice day? Nope. Nothing. If you want wallpaper, this is the place to look through a LOT of books. If you want help, forget it. Friendly, not too busy, answered their phone when we called. They recycle old paint. They will take up to 5 gallons at a time. We had a lot and they took a little more than 5 gallons because they said they had room. It pays to be friendly. read more

I've gone to this store almost on a weekly basis when I repainted the inside of my home. Purchased so many samples to decide (sample sizes are far more affordable than at Home Depot). They have a wide color selection and if you're into non-toxic ingredients then come here as well. Staff always friendly and knowledgeable. They do have a library where you can borrow their books. Use the company's website to give you some inspirations. You'll notice a number of contractors come here as well which is a good sign. Located right in front of BevMo. I was looking to drop off some used paint today and SW was on the list. Called over there this morning - what horrible customer service. First I was snapped at by Nicole "I can't hear you", I tried to ask her questions about dropping off the paint and mid sentence she interrupted me with a "we're full". Called over to Vista Paint who were very nice and told me to bring it by anytime. Guess what. I did my research on what paint had the best coverage because I didn't have the time for 3 coats of paint. Sherwin Williams came up, hands down, as having the best paint for coverage. Allyson was very helpful and suggested the Emerald paint for great coverage and because it also came in quarts....I only needed a gallon but felt the quart would be perfect for touch ups. I was covering red on 3 walls and green on the 4th wall. She suggested I primer the red because of how difficult it is to cover. I took her advice and primed the 3 red walls. The coverage was great with a minor second coat. The green wall was a nightmare and after 2 coats I now needed more paint to do a 3rd coat. I was unhappy with the paint because it did not live up to its reviews or price point. I went in a day later to buy the quart that would help give me the third coat. I told Nicole (different sales person) how disappointed I was with the pricey paint that now needs a 3rd coat. She looked at me with a blank stare and did not respond. I ordered the quart and she proceeded to tell me I should buy a gallon because she could not guarantee a color match for the quart. I was like "what??" Bottom line....Nicole had no people skills AND I was so disappointed in the lack of coverage of the pricey paint. I did not buy the gallon and took my chances with the quart. It worked out but I will go back to Home Depot. read more

Terrible customer service! I went in today and asked for a 1 inch slanted paint brush. The one girl working there pointed to a brush and said it was the only one they had, which was not slanted. As I shopped around the very small store I found 2 brushes exactly what I had asked for. When I told her about them she said, "oh yeah we have those too." Huh?? Shouldn't you know your very small inventory? I also asked about gallon prices for paint and she told me. But never told me that there was a 30% off sale on paint. When I asked if there were any sales she said, "oh yeah, there's one, today's the last day." So you weren't going to say anything about a sale unless I asked? Our company come to different stores monstly everyday, we came to this store this morning and the guy who was helping us was super nice to us but the store manager JOSE DIAZ was super rude how can he be manager when his rude to his customers. A lot of professional painters seem to use Sherwin-Williams paint and there's a store very close to our house so we decided to use it when we repainted the interior of our house. The color is great - just what we wantted - but the actual painting was a nightmare. We were painting a pale brown over walls that were white. As we applied the paint everything looked good but as it dried it must have "shrunk" because there were still white spots everywhere, even after two full coats. We were doing touch ups for days. That was 6 months ago. Now after living with this paint on our walls for 6 months we still like the color but dislike everything else about it. It seems like every tiime something (like a vacuum cleaner cord) even touches the wall it leaves a mark. Our household doesn't include kids or dogs and we never had this problem with the brand of paint we used to use. Unless you want to be doing touch ups forever you'd be wise to stay away from Sherwin-Williams paint. read more

There are very unhappy people that work there. Not sure if it is because of bad management. Did speak with the store manager who was NOT FRIENDLY at all. In fact I was shocked to find out he was the store manager based on his rude behavior to the customers and his I don't really care type of attitude. Ironically, when I went to the store, the woman who worked there was on the phone. I waited for quite a while. When the call was over she was about to help me then the phone rang and she asked me to wait to get this call. She finished her call I asked her my questions and she was not helpful. However, the customer who was waiting behind me was extremely knowledgeable and I had my questions answer by him.
