I had some major electrical work done, and the electrician had to cut holes in several walls. I needed to have the 4 holes repaired. I looked around and found First Class Handyman. He was perfect for our needs. He responded quickly, scheduled our job quickly, arrived on time, did a truly professional job, cleaned up afterwards, and left with a smile. Drywall is much more difficult than it looks. You can go to any hardware store and buy the materials to patch drywall, but when you're done, it's going to look like it was patched by an amateur. In the garage or closet this might be OK, but not in the living room or library. I'll need to prime it and paint it myself. Mike was super quick to respond to my message on here and offered me a quote that was significantly more affordable than any other drywall repair estimates I had received from the bigger companies. And unlike the bigger guys he did not have a lengthy waiting period and offered to come out the next day. After arriving and assessing the work in person he actually lowered his quote by a few bucks and got started. While he worked he was polite and considerate of the fact that my partner and I work from home. Very thoughtful when it came to entering and exiting our home and all around easy to work with. We are replacing cabinets / shelves in a walk-in closet. After the tear-out of the existing materials, the company patched holes in the walls, but they don't do painting. So, I came to Yelp, and asked 3 handymen for quotes. Mike was first to reply, and his quote was competitive. That, along with the solid 5 star reviews, led us to ask him to do the work. The Saturday before he was due to do the work, my wife and I were buying the primer & paint. While in the paint store, I emailed Mike to tell him what we were purchasing: paint/primer "all in one". I didn't expect a reply, but within about a minute he responded, and told me that - to ensure any newly-repaired patches were properly sealed - it'd be better to buy separate primer and paint. I sent him photos of some primers, and he advised me which to buy. Responding so helpfully on a Saturday morning was above and beyond what I expected. It's now Tuesday, he's just finished the work. He prepared by covering the floor and other areas, applied a coat of primer, then 2 coats of paint. It looks great, ready for the new cabinets. I'd have no hesitation in hiring Mike again. read more
