Cameron and his crew were recommended to me by a mutual friend to paint my house. It was very easy for me to work with Cameron. I received a simple, easy to understand proposal, they showed up when they said they would and did a fantastic job. They paid attention to detail and I felt they went above and beyond my expectation. In a world where it's sometimes difficult to find good service providers, it is really nice to work with Cameron. I would recommend him and certainly use his services if I needed it again. WARNING, WARNING, WARNING, Owner threatened me! Jayjay D. post is in line with my experience with Cameron, the owner of PB Painting. Jack was my estimator, he knew I was in a time crunch to turn the home over to new tenants who had kids starting school at the end of August. Jack's quote estimated the job would take 95.9 hours which calculates to approx. 12 days. On August 28 @ 4:00 p.m. Cameron texted me asking for a phone call. When I phoned him he said he needed to pick up a progress payment. I reminded him that the contract says I am obligated to make a progress payment when 1 coat of paint is on all walls. I explained that the downstairs had not been touched in 12 days! At that he HUNG UP ON ME! ****Yes, the OWNER OF THE COMPANY HUNG UP ON ME! He subsequently texted me and apologized for ending the call abruptly. The job took 18 days, most of the time there was only one guy, Jorge, painting a 2700 sq ft house. When I reached out to PB Painting, they sent 2 more guys for 2 days, then 1 guy for a couple of days. I lost $933.31 in rent due to the job not being done until 9/7. IT GETS BETTER.....I had no idea they would finish the night of 9/7. On 9/8 at 6 a.m. I got on a plane for a 7 hour flight during which Cameron threatened to file a Mechanic's Lien on the house and subsequently FORECLOSE if I didn't get him payment on 9/8! I explained I was out of town for 1 week and his text reponse was "No, that is not going to work, we need payment asap" Initially I deducted $933 from his final payment, then realized that this guy is completely out of control and I feared for my safety. I paid him the full amount due and WILL NEVER refer this company to anyone. However, I did require him to exchange a Lien Release for the payment, even though he said he never actually filed a lien. I did not trust him! ** PB Painting, Cameron Maltby should have his contractor's license revoked! read more

***UPDATE AFTER OWNER RESPONSE*** This is normally not something I would do; however, after the owner decided to attack me personally and tell a boldfaced lie, this response had to be forthcoming. First, he states that he politely tried to decline my business and claims I insinuated that I would leave a bad review if I didn't get my paint upgraded for free--which again is simply a lie! I have the emails and texts from the initial estimate visit with the original quote of $1,700 that followed shortly thereafter and then the corrected one of $1,600 as well, and all the requests for me to approve the job. I never tried to weaponize anything, and the owner knows it; I just asked that you honor what your representative stated about the premium paint. Stating "people like me" was all I needed to hear and was what I suspected this ultimately was about. Which one are you: a racist, a homophobe, or both? But for sure, you are a young, petulant, and weak little boy who lacks professionalism and business ethics. DON'T ATTACK PEOPLE LIKE THIS WHEN YOU KNOW YOU'RE IN THE WRONG ... DO BETTER NEXT TIME AND BE HONEST AS WELL!! ***PLEASE READ *** DECIDED TO SHARE AFTER OWNER DECIDED TO USE PROFANITY TOWARD ME WHEN IT WAS COMPLETELY UNWARRANTED*** Extremely disappointing and unprofessional experience with PB Painting and the owner, Cameron. During the initial estimate, a representative quoted $1,700, but we explicitly agreed beforehand on a price of $1,600 with premium paint included. When the official quote arrived, the price was incorrectly listed at $1,700; after I pointed this out, they corrected it to the agreed $1,600. However, while dealing with a relentless automated texts and emails asking to approve the quote, I took a closer look at the fine print. I discovered they had specified Sherwin-Williams SuperPaint--which I verified directly with Sherwin-Williams is not their premium tier. It became clear they didn't expect me to check the actual product specs. When I called the owner, Cameron, to address this discrepancy, he casually claimed the job would actually cost more if I wanted the actual premium paint we had already settled on. When I calmly pointed out how unfair and seemingly misleading that was, Cameron abruptly cancelled the job, claiming he didn't want the "stress." When expressed the unexpected blatant unprofessionalism, Cameron escalated to profanity and told me, "F you." When I informed him that I would be sharing my honest experience in a public review, he threatened to sue me. I never raised my voice or swore; I simply expected them to honor their word and basic business ethics. Furthermore; Imagine advertising your business at @homedepot and then using Sherwin Williams Paint. This was actual shocking experience; but do as you wish. read more

PB Painting just finished Painting my house. I got a few estimates and PB Painting had the best price. Cameron the owner is very friendly and professional. His crew was great. They cleaned up after every visit. It's not an easy house to paint. High walls. It took a 32ft ladder to get the job done. Jack the estimater was very friendly and knowledgeable.I highly recommend, read more

Reply to Cameron: You are lucky that we have not sued you for the damages caused by your crew to our concrete, security camera, lighting and sprinkler system. To repair the damage to concrete alone would cost us over $18,000.00 per a few proposal we got. read more

We had a great experience with pb painting. They were extremely patient and did a thorough job with the prep, painting and clean up. Would highly recommend them. read more

Sorry, I thought I had posted this last December 2024. It was great working with Cameron and his crew of PB Painting I live 2 hours away from San Diego and he called me once he was at the property. We talked about what I needed painted and he definitely, with his crew met my standards and beyond. His quote was reasonable. They were so easy to work with. These guys were awesome! Great price, great communication, excellent work from start to finish. I definitely recommend these guys!

Great experience with PB Painting from start to finish. The guy who came to get an estimate was very friendly and helpful, explaining the different types of paint and shine etc that may go on different types of walls and rooms. Their estimate was less than a similar company I also got an estimate from, so went with them. I told them I was flexible with my dates, so I got an additional discount at signing. I thought that would mean it may delay the painting, but they actually started 2 days later. First the painter came out to get my color samples, a few of the samples I had were from a different brand but they were able to color match for me. I then got a text the next morning at 8:30am that they could start that day at 10. The painters were really friendly, asked a few question but besides that just got everything done. It took them about 3 1/2 days total from start to finish. Upon completion we did a couple of walk throughs to make sure everything was perfect, which it was! They even put all my stuff back exactly where it was in the closets and everything. I'm so happy with the job that was done. read more

Excellent work, A+++! Quality and value to hire PB Painting. I needed to have the exterior of my home painted and it was a huge undertaking. Definitely a job for a professional. A great experience from start to finish, discussing the scope of the project with owner Cameron (who listened to us and provided pictures of prior work) , connecting with his project managers Santiago (online admin) and Jacob (onsite mgr) and seeing the entire crew work so hard to do all the patching, sanding, and expert painting. My home's exterior is so beautiful now with gorgeous fresh colors replacing dingy blue gray and tired white stucco from the mid 1990's. I would hire PB Painting again and definitely recommend to others. My pics don't do their work justice, but I'm posting them anyways. read more

I can't recommend PB Painting highly enough! I got quotes from several painters, and PB Painting beat them all on price. I was initially hesitant to hire them because they were the lowest bid, but they completely exceeded my expectations in every way. The communication was fantastic. Cameron was quick to give me an estimate, answered all my questions and put me at ease before we signed the contract. Then Santiago helped us get organized before the work started. Lastly Jacob came by every day to inspect the progress, and any concerns I raised (like small missed spots or areas needing touch-ups) were addressed the very next day without hesitation. The painters were polite, professional, and left the site clean every day, which made the process stress-free. They took on my unusually designed house, with its complex layout and three-color scheme and delivered a flawless result. I couldn't be happier with their work, especially considering the unbeatable price. PB Painting proved that you don't have to sacrifice quality for affordability. I'm so glad I chose them and will absolutely recommend them to friends and neighbors. Thank you to the entire team for transforming my house! read more

I can concur with all the great things said about PB Painting. We hired them to paint our 16 unit apartment building which was in dire need of a paint job. If you are looking for a professional and competent paint company, your search is over. Cameron and his team kept me informed from start to finish. Cameron went above and beyond as he walked the entire property and made suggestions that I never would have thought to consider. (Example? I thought I needed a new door but as you can see from the before and after photos, my door just needed to meet PB Painting.) His team provided constant communication and was ready to answer any questions or concerns along the way. My house looks brand new! read more

PB Painting did an excellent job on our house in Point Loma, can't recommend them highly enough!!

Responsiveness and communication fantastic. They did a great job I will recommend them.

After getting my tile roof lifted and re-layed with new underlayment I had a lot of damaged wood replaced for my eaves and facia. After getting several painting bids, PB Painting quickly responded with the lowest price. Like others, I was hesitant because it seemed to good to be true. But when I reviewed their contract stating the scope of work, the exact materials being used and warranty, I couldn't find any short cuts or unknown brands. In addition, Cameron took the initiative to bid some stucco patch and paint work on my house and backyard walls that he deemed necessary. Though I was not focused on that, I'm glad he bid it because it did need repair. The completed project turned out exceptional. I live in Los Angeles but the team of Cameron, Santiago and Jacob kept me informed by text, with pictures, every step of the way on my UTC house. Thanks guys! read more

We highly recommend PB Painting. The crew just finished painting our house and the whole team was a delight to work with - from start to finish. Our original plan was just to paint the house, but we quickly expanded the project to include garage. window frames, and retaining walls. We didn't think they would be able to paint our aging window frames but they assured us it could be done --- and they were right! The results are stunning and we couldn't be more pleased. The team was efficient, professional and very accommodating. Communication with the team was excellent and everyone was enthusiastic and focused on making sure we were happy with the outcome. Special thanks to Jack, Santiago, Rhen, Jacob, Armando, and Francisco for their patience and excellent work. read more

I needed to paint the exterior of my house, and since I prefer to work with local contractors, I found PB Painting. I called for an estimate. Cameron came to my house, reviewed the scope of work, answered all my questions, and quickly prepared an estimate. His price was fair compared to other proposals which I had received, and I contracted with PB Painting to paint my house. From the start of the project to the end, the communication was excellent. Cameron, Santiago, and Jacob kept me informed daily on the status of the job and what task would come next. The painters would also let me know when they arrived in the morning, and when they left in the afternoon. And when I saw something that was missed or needed attention, Jacob would be right out to review it and quickly get it taken care of. Excellent customer service. I would not hesitate to use them again. read more

I cannot speak highly enough of PB painting. Cameron, Eddy and his crew and everyone I interacted with were exceptional. Cameron was considerate about not being able to make initial appointment but then showed up for a free estimate later in the day. He was courteous, took time to make sure everything that I needed was covered and very quick to come back with his estimate. read more

I had an excellent experience with PB Painting. Did the exterior of my 1917 home that included 2 different sidings and 2 colors. Cameron responded quickly when I called for a bid and turned his estimate around quickly as well. Most reasonable bid and willing to tackle the issues our old home presented. When the job started, Jacob was on hand to review and to supervise during the few days it took. Gonzalo performed the work. He was great and made sure we were on the same page throughout. There was some confusion as to the paint sheen but it all was resolved readily. I am quite detailed before I sign any contract and Cameron was able to explain, revise where I asked for a change, and turn around the contract ASAP. All staff responsive and easy to reach by text/phone. So, I have no reservation in highly recommending PB Painting for your home painting job. read more

PB Painting just finished the exterior of our two story, 4 bedroom stucco & wood house and garage. Cameron Maltby, the owner, was quick, reliable and fair during the quote process, actually listened to some contract suggestions, and we finalized our bid in short order after comparing 3 other quotes. His painting team, led by Giovanni, and assisted by Osvaldo and Martin', were professional, polite, efficient and above all diligent in their efforts and our house looks spectacular! Giovanni was a prince in brining up questions on the details and choices of how we wanted detailed tasks performed and then carried them out. No wonder he was in charge of the team. In addition to the painting, the team sanded and put a new MINWAX stain and clear coated our front door, repaired our garage door side strips, installed a new side entry door and locks on the garage , and were very careful to cover all windows, pavers, and other surfaces not to be painted. In painting our upper level, requiring walking on our Spanish tiles, they did not break one tile! Plus, they spent a good deal of time cleaning up EVERY DAY and being careful of neighbors' property. Contractors can be very difficult to deal with, always looking for opportunities to skip a step or make an extra buck by using inferior crews and materials, but PB Painting made this big job a success! read more
