SD Coatings did a great job painting our house. We had a bunch of termite and weather damaged wood that needed to be replaced as part of the project. We got four quotes and Scott was the only one that took the time to truly assess what needed to be done and included the wood repair as part of the initial quote. One company gave us a quote with the repair being an extra cost that would be added later while the other two said that all of the damaged wood would just be patched with Bondo, which given the extent of the damage did not seem prudent. The crew was punctual, polite, and professional and we love the results. They even removed an old eyesore satellite dish that had been on the house since we moved in. read more

I had 5 estimates, supposed to be 6 but that is for some other business review, to have 90% of my entire interior painted. I had asked yelp to give me an estimate from the un-named business and in the process yelp asked if I wanted to get other estimates, so I said sure. Scott was the first to respond. It was a Friday evening and we set up time on Monday. Right from the beginning, Scott was on top of it, he asked all the right questions even about things that we hadn't thought about. Said he would provide the estimate in a few days along with copies of their license and insurance. The estimate wasn't the cheapest and it wasn't the most expensive. I was actually right in the middle. We made the decision to go with SD Coatings based on the fact that they would help with moving some furniture (nothing breakable or small and to the center of the room), Scott mentioned they would also patch up any holes, leave the nails for pictures to be rehung, and remove any old fixtures if we needed. Scott and his team showed up the following Monday and we walked the entire house, putting up painters tape to mark accent walls, nails and fixtures that need to be removed and also where holes need to be patched. The first day was great Issac was lead and his team of 3 got a lot of the first coat applied on the second floor, we were thinking that they actually could be done by Thursday at this pace. However the second day would be my only negative about the experience. I have to say that not every job goes as perfect as you think it might. Anyway, on the second day we had a different crew, and they were not as efficient as the day one crew. It took teh whole day to add one coat in the master bath and the other guy finished up the second coat on the half of the second floor. Day three came and we knew to expect a different crew of 2, but to be honest they were they probably the best yet, They were very thorough and were able to complete the rest of what the Day 2 team worked an and then began on the first floor. We had the same team of 2 on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. they were really good at their jobs. Overall it took about 6 days to paint about 2800 sqft. All teams cleaned up after they were done for the day and the overall experience was great. I would highly recommend Scott and his team at SD Coatings for your paint ing needs. My review is for work completed in August 2023. I purchased a home and requested quotes for interior, exterior and kitchen cabinets. This was a large job so I spoke/met with multiple companies, looked at websites and read reviews before choosing SD Coatings. Overall I'm disappointed. Interior paint: Crew worked quick and seemed pretty efficient. We booked them for all interior walls: 8 rooms and hallway. There were items left undone and or unclean at the end and my husband let the supervisor know. The issues were fixed when we checked again. I'm glad the supervisor was receptive to issues and promptly responded however, if we didn't have the eye for stuff like that then corners and edges to baseboard wouldn't have been painted. I'm most upset by the quality of kitchen cabinet painting. My cabinets were previously painted gray and looked like a diy job. I understood the cabinets would get taken apart, sanded down, spray painted blue. I was quoted thousands of dollars for this job. The ONLY reasons I didn't do it myself is because I believed I was paying for quality work and supporting local business. The cabinets have paint runs and brush strokes, I am still cleaning tons of overspray which makes me question disassembly and removal to spray paint. I'm not happy and wish I would've done the project myself. DIY is easier for me to accept issues. Outside: paint looks great! The colors look well together. The time to complete was perfect. There was some trash in the yard but I notified the supervisor and he had it handled immediately. read more

Long story with a Tesla solar roof and all the drama with installation and repairs. This chapter concerns a local painting company. One thing Tesla doesn't tell you is it will make it harder to paint your house after getting a solar roof. Because of numerous roof leaks, they decided to strip the panels and start from scratch. Now my trim around the house was due for a new coat of paint. I was informed that I would have two days from the removal of the panels to find a painter for the trim. The first quote for my exterior house paint project was from SD Coatings. I was impressed with the professionalism, thoroughness and solutions given during my first meeting with Scott but I knew I should get two more quotes. I remember Scott being personable and was patient with my questions. Even after those other two quotes I knew I still wanted to work with SD Coatings but wasn't sure what to expect because I don't usually get my house painted. They not only did an excellent job painting but also fixed exterior and interior door mouldings. I had a dog door in my house wall to the outside that I wanted removed and the exterior wall was re-stucco'ed, insulated and the interior wall was redone so that it looks like there was never a dog door there. We used SD Coatings to stain a new fence that we had installed. The fence was not stained by the fence company and I was looking for a painter who would take the time to work with me to discuss options and give me advice about the correct products to use. I found them on Yelp, and made an appointment with Scott to give me an estimate. Scott was punctual on the day of walk through, and as promised, he emailed me an estimate by the end of that day. I also got 2 other bids, and even though SD Coatings was not the least expensive, I decided to go with them based on my gut instinct. Scott is very responsive from the first chat with me to end of entire paintings. During the estimation, Scott walked through my house and explained all the work they planned to do. He also helps me to decide which color I can use! As for the painting, the team did a very good job. All my three doors look like brand new.
