The store seems to be manned by a husband and wife team(probably the franchise owners, and the only people I've ever seen in there during my visits.) They greet everyone who comes in and go out of their way to help them. During my last visit, I needed them to look up the last paint color I had purchased and then bought 4 more gallons of that color. The male employee applied every discount possible (promotions, coupons, etc) threw in 3 roller covers for free, made sure I had a paint can opener, boxed up the 4 cans and carried them out to my car (and I'm not a guy who looks like he would have trouble with the weight of the cans.) All that without me even asking. That's going above and beyond in my opinion. If you're just looking for paint, you can probably go anywhere. But if you want good customer service with your paint, this is the place.

They…read morehave every kind of paint, every supply possible to need, every color imaginable, ever texture. It will overstimulate the paint part of your brain. The store is bright, clean, and well run. The people are nice and chat while prepping things. It's one of the best places i've found for buying large scale brushes that are of high enough quality that bristles don't escape in to your wet paint. I suggest, if you're working on a project, that you pop in here before you go somewhere like lowes. Its slightly more expensive, but you're getting more bang for your buck.

Great service from this location…read more Stopped in to get some paint for my bedroom and the staff was extremely helpful. We just bought a new house and have been working to get everything upgraded. I imagined that going in to get paint, they would be super pushy to get me to add on a lot of stuff, totally not the case. They made the entire experience very enjoyable. So my comments for the product. Before going in I already had a couple of colors picked out by using their ipad app. For the most part, I would say the colors turned out how I had expected. The picture I took of my room was with the light on, so it made the colors seem a bit lighter than they actually were. My only recommendation would be to take multiple pictures and lightings, that way you know how it will look at all times. Not disappointed in my one light picture tough, the paint turned out great. We went with the emerald with the eggshell sheen. I ended up doing a couple of coats for the dark blue that we had, the light grey covered well with only one coat. The paint is very thick and so great to use. Never had issue with dripping or splashing off from the roller.

We'd gotten some swatches from Lowes and then decided to go to S-W directly to purchase. The staff were extremely helpful in suggesting which brand/quality of paint to choose, which finish, and how many gallons to buy for our space. We needed supplies too and got a good overview as to why there was such a range of prices for things like brushes. As I said we're novices and probably could have been sold pretty much anything, but it was clear that the staff were being straightforward and just giving solid, honest advice. I thought the prices were reasonable, considering we went pretty high quality and were able to take advantage of a sale going on. The finished paint job looks great, too.

I needed some glossy, black spray paint for my 'looks like new' kitchen table and chairs. I walked down to Sherwin Williams on 5th Ave. and bought what they had-some cheap-o brand of paint. Whatever, it was on sale and I didn't know any better. As it turned out, the cheap-o brand (I honestly don't remember the brand) had a pretty poor spray nozzle. I returned the unused bottles and purchase 5 new ones. They were about a dollar more each, but worth it. One this return trip I decided that it was time to paint my office. I didn't matter what color, just something different. In the back, right corner of the store, there are cans of returned paint. Quarts and Gallons are priced at $5 and $10 respectively. I grabbed a boring gray one, that I new I could easily accent with some randoms I had a home. That, by the way, is my little secret shared with you. Bargain paint for $10! Wouldn't hurt to see what they have.

I have to be honest with you (like I'm not usually?), this review is causing me some discomfort…read more None of it is due to Porter Paints. It's all me. Let me explain. Last summer, I was charged with the duty to paint our guest room. We chose a beautiful deep, dark red color. So far, so good. Of course, I immediately went to the store that our professional painter used when he painted every other room in our house a few years ago. I asked Mike why he used Porter Paints. He said, "I don't know anyone better." That sold me. This is quite a store. Solely devoted to paint and those who paint, it is very big (I think). Whatever you need, they've got it. Naturally, I must have looked like a deer in the headlights as soon as I walked in, because the employees noticed and immediately knew that I needed assistance. I appreciated that, even though I felt out of place surrounded by professional painters all of whom knew what they were doing. I was armed with my trusty colored swatch, so I wasn't completely naked. Mary was able to provide me with the service, advice and discount I needed to complete my task of painting the guest room that day. It didn't take long. Before I knew it, I had a roller in my hand and was barking out orders to my friend, Steve. As we initiated our task, we slowly and methodically made our way around the room from top to bottom on each wall. So far, so good. They we had to put the second coat on. Everything went well until the very end. Steve managed to over-do the strip next to the door which created a three-dimensional paint blob. By this time, it was late, so I told Steve that he could go (before he could do any more damage). I got out the sander and delicately sanded the area with the blob. It looked pretty good until I painted it again. The color we chose is very tricky. It changes shades with each coat. I did the best I could with the blob. Then I noticed all the paint marks on ceiling at the corner of where the wall meets the ceiling. OMG! What a chore. The only solution I had was to cover up the paint with plaster. It worked, but it was tedious and took forever. Needless to say, it is now day two. I finished the ceiling touch-up when I noticed an oval-shaped area near the window (in plain sight) that was missing most of the second coating. Oh boy! I got out my finest brush and went to work. I held my breath and I prayed very hard for this attempt to succeed. Guess what happened? To this day, if you stare straight at the oval area, it's now a big circle of another shade of red! UHHHGGG! I feel like Charlie Brown! Darn it all. My wife keeps reminding me of the faux-pas and I just keep saying that I'll get to it, which means that I have to paint the entire room over again - I don't think so. I hope that you can feel my pain. I think that we all have our "painting" stories. But, don't allow this to reflect on the 4 star rating I gave Porter Paints. It's not their fault. Next time, I'm going to hire my friend Mike again. I'll let him worry about the dreaded OVAL!

I'm not sure why this Lowe's gets such low marks. It's a pretty typical Lowe's. Big selection. Well…read moreorganized. Generally decent prices. I didn't deal with any staff during my quick visit so can't speak to service. All in all just fine. The few negatives for me have to do with getting there, and that doesn't impact how good the actual business is. There's a lot of construction at 70 and Brice, and then it's not real clear where to turn into Lowe's. There are several entrances, but they are not marked, and you can't really see Lowe's because there are buildings in front of it. You can just see the big sign by the road, so you know the general location. So be careful, and really just turn in at the stoplight or any entrance off Brice/Gender and thread your way back.

When I brought this to the cashier's attention, Sam refused to honor the displayed pricing and began removing the price stickers, preventing us from purchasing the items. She stated the pricing wouldn't be honored because we didn't bring the item up ourselves--which makes no sense given we had just located it. When we escalated the issue, the supervisor, Selena, was dismissive and unprofessional--rolling her eyes, snickering, and acting as if we were inconveniencing her. She also spoke over another team member who was trying to assist, clearly more interested in arguing than resolving the issue. To make matters worse, when we informed them we would be reporting the experience, both Sam and Selena made comments under their breath about not caring. This behavior is completely unacceptable and not a good representation of Lowe's customer service standards.
