I have been a Sherwin Williams customer in Boulder for decades, though on an irregular pattern of…read moreoccurrences. I just don't paint my house all that often and though I had done it all myself years ago, I do get some help these days. One of my past painters uses another paint supplier, also of good quality, so my house is a mix and I have had service at both to compare. I am happy to go with either. I had always used the SW on Arapahoe in the past, as that was the only one local. But occasionally they have been out of a product I needed and would have to transfer from a different store, usually Longmont. Now, there are two stores in Boulder and this was my first opportunity to try this one, which is a bit of a trek north for me, but again, Arapahoe was out of what I needed and called to check this Valmont store for me. The staff member at Valmont was very helpful, had the stock and did a color match from the leftover paint from my home that I brought with me as the product itself had been reformulated. It turned out to be an excellent match and a good quality paint. As he had computer access to my old account, I was also able to get the customer discount available with these accounts. I will be happy to return if I need to and I will call both stores in advance to check stock in advance on the paint product I need. They are both fine. I am not sure if this store carries a fuller line or just the chance on any given day.

This summer, Boulder Valley Paint is pretty much my home away from home. We're getting lots of home…read moreimprovement done and painting tons of stuff around the house. This place is a great resource! They are very knowledgeable and friendly. I know pretty much nothing about prepping, etc., but whenever I have a question, I get really helpful and not condescending answers. I should mention too that I love Benjamin Moore paint. We've used Natura before and it was great (zero VOC!) and we just painted our kitchen with Aura -- also superb. It coats extremely well. Now we're working on the exterior of our house, and the Low Lustre exterior paint has been great too. Forrest did a custom color match to our existing front porch paint and it was perfect. Woo! Also, anyone who has a rescued greyhound gets bonus points from me.

I love the service I get from Boulder Valley Paint…read more Forrest, the owner, knows everything there is about Benjamin Moore Paint. He has often informed me of new products and sundries available that I wasn't aware of. The store is clean and welcoming, and his assistant, Heather, is great too. Forrest almost always has his dog with him at the store, she's a friendly rescued Greyhound. I have never had a bad paint mix from them (I am a regular customer) And it's a lifesaver for me that they carry samples in just about all of the Ben Moore colors. Some places that carry Ben Moore only have the limited palette of factory produced sample sizes, but Forest supplements those with the remaining colors. It's such a great feature. I'm so happy they are around and centrally located. P.S. Thursday is "donut Thursdays"

We planted the flowers after they sat for a few days and they're growing like crazy! The staff was super helpful while we were shopping, helping us find stuff and get a box to take the plants home safely. Not a huge shop but so many plants from flowers to trees. There were seeds all on the wall inside with the gardening supplies. They had a few items that would be good for gifts, they have some art, books, kitchen items, and house plants (succulents, jades, etc...). They have a cute shop with good quality product, kind staff and good value. Would recommend for plant people!

The plants don't look their best in the spring because they are dormant. So a beginner would likely dismiss these as dead plants for sale. But long-time Rocky Mountain gardeners know these dry-looking tufts will wake up and grow into healthy plants by late spring or early summer. I've bought many of my starter native plants here and they have matured and multiplied through the years. However, beginners can get lots of help and advice from staff. You need to overcome the expectation of wanting lush, green seedlings to take home. These plants are priced higher than those in big box stores, but they are worth it. They have been acclimated to the local conditions, outside of cozy greenhouses with built in sprinklers. They will settle well in your Rocky Mountain backyard.
