After a long day hiking in the Northern Cascade Mountains, an ice cream cone from Sheri's hit the spot. Do note they have two lists on their chalkboard: one is for flavors they make themselves. I opted for their Methow Mud. There was a long line at 7:30 when we arrived on a Monday night - they close at 8pm - so I wonder why they don't stay open to 9pm in the summer. Note that there is a mini golf course behind the storefront. We might have budgeted more time for a game had we known. read more

Be prepared to wait a long time if you come in the afternoon. Having said that, the ice cream is good and worth waiting for, especially if you need something to cool down after hiking around. Seating is a bit tough so just keep an eye out for an empty table when you are in line. Of course we bought the homemade, otherwise we would have just gone to a store to buy store bought. As you can see, the single scoop in a waffle cone is as big as my head. The ice cream was good. My husband and I found this little jewel of a town when we were on a road trip in Washington State. It was amazing!! In the middle of this town is a little bit of Heaven on earth called Sheri's Sweet Shoppe! It has any sweet you could ask for! Lots of delicious candies that are actually made here. We had a macadamia & pecan turtle, chocolate was yummy and caramel had a nice consistency-- not too hard or chewy. Also had the caramel and a chocolate macaron. We would buy from again. read more

I've never had naked turtles, so I had to pick up a couple for the road. The burst of sweetness was great, followed by the crunchiness of the nuts, and then the chew of the caramel was just what I needed for the next 100 miles. They offer a variety of items, such as chocolate covered marsh mellows on a stick, assorted clusters, fudges, peanut cups, and even an assortment of sweet crystal sticks. Went here a few weeks back while heading to Diablo Lake. I loved looking at the treats that they had in the display case inside the store that consisted of a lot of chocolates and fudge. They also had other sweets readily available besides chocolates. Outside they had the ice cream options and even cotton candy. I think I got the double chocolate one that had chocolate chips in it and my boyfriend got a lemon sherbet or sorts. I really liked the taste of his since I am a sucker for lemon flavored things and the ice cream I had was great, but didn't realize that the chocolate chips in the ice cream would he the bigger size ones, so definitely got some crunch texture in there as I bit down on chocolate chips. read more

They have a wide selection of home made ice creams, which taste amazing while being very cheap as well! One thing to note is that they are very quickly out of many flavors, so get in there early in the morning. Wow, no mention of all the wasps in the ice cream case! It's not Sheri's fault as the town seemed to be swarmed with wasps in mid July when we visited, but we wanted ice cream and after seeing some umpteenth number of wasps in the ice cream case and the workers attempting to swat them with fly swatters while they were IN THE ICE CREAM really turned us off. We headed across the street to a General Store to have ice cream indoors (the store had wasps inside too so we left and sat in our car and ate). We did buy a few candies inside of Sheri's but kept looking around for wasps. I guess the motto of the story here is not to visit Winthrop in the Summer if you are allergic to wasps and bees...and yes, avoid places where they sell sweets! read more

Sheri's is known for their incredible cinnamon rolls, and as usual we weren't let down, until we came back the next which was a Tuesday, and they were already sold out. So that day we went with the small curly fries, and yes they were small, they gave us a small paper dish of curly fries and the dish wasn't even full. Someone was taking saving on the food cost to the extremes. Since we had been camping up in the mountains and wanted something warm, we also ordered a hot Peppermint Latte to warm us up, and the Latte was served lukewarm, so we ended up bringing it clear back up to our campsite and warming it up on the campstove, it was awesome after we warmed it up. Nothing worse then a $6 lukewarm cup of coffee. Five stars for the cinnamon rolls (when they have them) and 1 star for the coffee and curly fries. Our server on Monday was also super nice and very friendly, she wasn't there on Tuesday or I'm betting we would have had a better experience with the coffee and fries. read more

This is a review for the ice cream counter, which is located around the left of the building, outside on the covered patio. They have at least 20 flavors of homemade ice cream, along with 15 non-homemade flavors. With those options, why wouldn't you get something homemade?! Big, generous scoops for a great price! After paying $5+/person for "artisan" ice cream in Seattle, Sheri's is such a steal. They also offer a cash discount, so pay with cash if you have it on hand. I had to deduct a star because there WERE SO MANY WASPS on the patio. Wasps + ice cream = no peace, just fear. Not a pleasant way to enjoy great ice cream! read more
