Located in the center of Winthrop, Sheri's Sweet Shoppe has sweets for the liking. On a sunny day, we came here for some ice cream, which they have plenty of, in addition to other food items and a full coffee menu. Sheri's Sweet Shoppe features their own housemade ice cream, which I recommend you trying, in addition to other ice cream flavors that are store purchased. It's nice that they indicate which of the ice cream flavors is housemade, including the scoop that I got, which was Methow Mudslide, a coffee ice cream with Oreo. It was solid. We also got a kid's scoop of vanilla bean for our dog. You can taste the flavors before purchase. There's plenty of seating where the shoppe is located on the outdoor patio, and it's dog-friendly. Staff were friendly even with how busy the spot was. Every town must have ice cream, so it's good to know that Winthrop has a spot just for that. read more

After a long day hiking in the Northern Cascade Mountains, an ice cream cone from Sheri's hit the spot. Do note they have two lists on their chalkboard: one is for flavors they make themselves. I opted for their Methow Mud. There was a long line at 7:30 when we arrived on a Monday night - they close at 8pm - so I wonder why they don't stay open to 9pm in the summer. Note that there is a mini golf course behind the storefront. We might have budgeted more time for a game had we known. read more

Be prepared to wait a long time if you come in the afternoon. Having said that, the ice cream is good and worth waiting for, especially if you need something to cool down after hiking around. Seating is a bit tough so just keep an eye out for an empty table when you are in line. My husband and I found this little jewel of a town when we were on a road trip in Washington State. It was amazing!! In the middle of this town is a little bit of Heaven on earth called Sheri's Sweet Shoppe! It has any sweet you could ask for! The workers were very nice and gave awesome suggestions on what was good... although everything looked very delicious!!! Definitely worth going to if you have a sweet tooth!! I've never had naked turtles, so I had to pick up a couple for the road. The burst of sweetness was great, followed by the crunchiness of the nuts, and then the chew of the caramel was just what I needed for the next 100 miles. They offer a variety of items, such as chocolate covered marsh mellows on a stick, assorted clusters, fudges, peanut cups, and even an assortment of sweet crystal sticks. Went here a few weeks back while heading to Diablo Lake. I loved looking at the treats that they had in the display case inside the store that consisted of a lot of chocolates and fudge. They also had other sweets readily available besides chocolates. Outside they had the ice cream options and even cotton candy. I think I got the double chocolate one that had chocolate chips in it and my boyfriend got a lemon sherbet or sorts. I really liked the taste of his since I am a sucker for lemon flavored things and the ice cream I had was great, but didn't realize that the chocolate chips in the ice cream would he the bigger size ones, so definitely got some crunch texture in there as I bit down on chocolate chips. read more

Wow, no mention of all the wasps in the ice cream case! It's not Sheri's fault as the town seemed to be swarmed with wasps in mid July when we visited, but we wanted ice cream and after seeing some umpteenth number of wasps in the ice cream case and the workers attempting to swat them with fly swatters while they were IN THE ICE CREAM really turned us off. We headed across the street to a General Store to have ice cream indoors (the store had wasps inside too so we left and sat in our car and ate). We did buy a few candies inside of Sheri's but kept looking around for wasps. I guess the motto of the story here is not to visit Winthrop in the Summer if you are allergic to wasps and bees...and yes, avoid places where they sell sweets! read more

Among other various sweets, they have shave ice. Horrible. The ice was in large bits so it didn't absorb the syrup. The syrup, no joke, was 100% tasteless. I suppose it's watered down.
