Great service and great food! Make sure to stop there before you leave town. The cider, pizza and beer were perfect!

I was visiting the area and attended over the lunch hour this past weekend. Hands down one of the worst experiences I've ever had at a restaurant. The servers were incredibly kind and friendly, but the restaurant owner was a different story. We had a yummy basket of fries and a nice chat with our server. After receiving our pizza, both myself and my friend thought that the pizza tasted and smelled of cigarettes. The sauce was very acidic and chunky, and overall unpleasant to eat. We each tried one slice, I couldn't finish mine- before deciding that we really couldn't enjoy it. We let our server know as much and offered to pay for a half pizza/kids pizza (still paying as expected for the rest of our food/drinks), and he said that he would have to ask his supervisor about our request. When "JP" came out, it was clear he had been drinking. He became argumentative quickly- claiming that we just didn't understand how oven fired pizza was supposed to taste, that we were clearly trying to dine and dash, and eventually told us to just "see what happens" and to not pay and leave. He took a photo of us which we asked him to delete (he didn't- he posted us on the business Facebook page- see attached, I've removed my friend's face) and told us he could do "anything he wants" since he was the owner. In all of the breath he spent yelling at us, he could have offered a better solution, or just kindly told us there was nothing he could do. I asked the server if we could just pay and move on- he told us it was fine/on the house, and it seemed like dealing with a drunk for a boss wasn't out of the ordinary. I am sorry to see this kind of unprofessional behavior from someone who claims to have been in the restaurant industry over 30 years. Save your time and the headache and go to Meza or Three Fingered Jack's. We had an excellent experience and enjoyed the food immensely at both locations. read more

Great service, good selection of cider and beer. The food was okay. This was the only place open on Sunday night, so that was a big plus. My prospector sandwich was a let down. It's a pesto and grilled chicken, it wasn't as vibrant as I was expecting, I don't think there was anything wrong with the portion size or preparation, it just wasn't as fulfilling as I anticipated. They supposedly have really good breakfasts, but I was traveling and would not have time to try one out. Looking over the breakfast menu and I think it looked better than the lunch/ dinner menu. A 5 star experience from the moment we walked in and were warmly greeted. Service was unbeatable. Coffee was abundant which is exactly what we were hoping to find. The breakfast options were excellent making it hard to choose. Each of us thoroughly enjoyed our selections and noted the fresh ingredients. They also had Bloody Mary and other options to kickstart the day. We will be back next time we visit our son who just moved to Winthrop. read more

Stopped by for later lunch (2-ish). Passed by the deck, sat inside. Service was prompt. We both ordered ciders. I had screaming eagle (I think that was the name), a hopped, high ABV cider. It was excellent. My wife had the pineapple which was also great. For food she ordered a vegan brat. I waffled but ended up ordering a "thin crust pepperoni pizza." Food did take a while to show up, I thought they'd be making a nice fresh crust for the pizza. Turns out there was no obvious reason for the delay. My wife enjoyed her brat, which piles of great sauerkraut. And a veritable buffet of condiments and sauces to choose from for topping. My pizza, on the other hand. was disappointing. It was only lukewarm, cheese not even fully melted, let alone browned. The crust was the real problem. It appeared to be pre-fab, and not a crisp thin crust but more like the kind we had at cafeteria in grade school. Bland and doughy. I ended up eating a couple slices in full, and for the rest ate the cheese and pepperoni (which was fine) off the top. There was a man walking about talking to customers, and from the conversations I gathered he was the owner. Nice to visit with customers, but he kept pulling a vape pen out of his pocket and taking a few puffs. Illegal in Washington, but it wasn't one of those stinky vapes so didn't really affect me. It was starting to get hot out so we decided to find a spot with air conditioning and a cold drink. This was the only place open. Unfortunately they did not have air conditioning, the front door was open with a fan blowing in hot outside air; it also allowed for flies to enter. We sat at the bar and ordered drinks, the staff was very preoccupied with "other" things .. and it took a bit of time to get a drink. In fact my girlfriend ordered and her drink was delivered and it took an additional 10 minutes for him to take my order (just to clarify we were sitting right next to each other). They were out of my first choice, although it was still on the menu and the tap handle was right in front of me.. so I went with my second choice. We finished our drinks, paid up and left.. the no air conditioning and flies were too much. read more

I never write bad reviews, I normally don't write a review if I am not happy but this was so bad, new owners have no idea how to please customers, their kids were playing in the dinning area with a ball that kept rolling Into us, they also clean the tables for the parents, and we had to wipe one of our spoons off, the son continued to make fake burping sounds and the parents do nothing, prices were scratched off the menu, some food was cold, eggs undercooked, chicken fried steaks were embarrassing, they were like the microwavable pucks with gravy, food came out at different times with one of our 4 meals coming out way late, and one of our dishes never came out, over priced for the lacking quality, and the beer was warm the, resturant business in a tourist town with all top notch resturants is not to be taken lightly, you must put in The effort or fail, and I couldn't see how this place could make it if this continues I promise more bad reviews will fill this thread if the new owners don't take constructive criticism seriously read more

This spot lives up to all the reviews and should be a spot for a quick dinner and drink after surveying the local area. First, the place is a bit small with a small menu, and by the time we had arrived there were some menu items that were gone for the day. But, that didn't stop our fun and made us know the food must be worth it. I enjoyed the cider flight to be able to try all the different options. I'm not sure which was my favorite, but I definitely loved the Pinnacle Goat & the Honey Bear. The Pinnacle's ginger flavor is very forward, but not overbearing. The Honey Bear is quite sweet, but not too much to enjoy more than one. I was quite impressed by the rib dinner. It included a sizable portion of meat with 2 sides and small dish of bbq sauce. The meat was smoky and had rich, with the bbq sauce adding a great glaze of sweetness. Although the server tried to warn me, I couldn't resist the Mac-and-cheese, which wasn't the best choice. I hear the onion rings are the better side option, but I did enjoy the slaw for a light refreshing bite after the heavy pasta and meat. Overall, I would send anyone to visit the Ciderhouse on a trip to the area. read more

This is a quintessential three star establishment. Everything was serviceable but nothing really stood out. My family got mozz sticks as an appetizer (some were still frozen in the middle). For dinner, we got the cider house salad (bland, nothing really to it), the burger (just ok), the prospector (diced chicken in pesto sauce?), and the buckaroo (deli turkey with some bacon). What an adorbssss little spot just outside of downtown Winthrop. This place was within walking distance of where we were staying, and not too busy when we arrived around 8pm on a Saturday evening. We were greeted by the owner and friendly staff, and found a front row picnic table in the cider garden for a great view of the band. We opted for a couple of yummy microbrews, while we watched the band as the sun set. We even played a game of cornhole to end the fun evening. I especially loved that they had a nice campfire roaring for all to enjoy. Their menu looked tasty, too. We'll definitely plan to get here earlier and grab dinner on the next trip. read more

I first came here two years ago and this was a welcome haven after driving through the North Cascades. I was happy to return, and had two meals here that were just as enjoyable. THE ATMOSPHERE IS JUST RIGHT. You instantly feel comfortable and welcome walking in. The deck and outdoor areas are lovely and even inside the décor is pretty neat. The staff were all quite young and a little stilted, though very well meaning. Add some of their homemade ciders to the scene and you're in for an enjoyable time. DON'T SKIMP ON BREAKFAST. For dinner, the mozzarella sticks were delicious and my partner was very happy with his sandwich. Unfortunately they were out of the vegan sausage so I had to opt for pizza which was just alright. Breakfast is where this place shined (see breakfast menus attached), with delicious hashbrowns, omelets, and chilaquiles which I suspect are made with doritos! The only thing that could have been improved about breakfast is if they had a vegetarian bean option. I just plain enjoy the vibe here. read more

Stopped in on a weekday this week with a party of 4 plus a dog and had lunch outside. Great food and drink and friendly service. Three of us had the small salads which were huge for a small, one had the bratwurst, all were fresh and excellent. The cider sampler was enjoyed and they brought a water dish for the dog. read more

Our third visit and becoming a tradition every summer we visit. Menu has options for everyone in the family - young and old. Don't assume they only have cider. We've been stopping in here for past few years after XC ski days for a tasty quick pub meal and some delicious ciders. They usually have a rib special that makes a great dinner option here. Many times we've just had the brats with the fixings bar, kraut, mustards etc served with chips for a nice inexpensive late lunch option. But this past Tuesday was extra.. as we were surprised to find a Taco Tuesday special. The tacos here were soo good! I just loved the spicy pork option, it was so moist and had the perfect heat in both meat and the tasty hot style green salsa. They had 4 meats and a salmon taco option too. All Served with guacamole and pico de gillo. The ciders are solid as well. My favorites are the black raven a blackberry cider on the more dry side and their honey bear, a sweet cider. This is dangerously good and at $7 a glass I can ring up a high bill, hehe, you've been warned, they go down fast and easy! Always a good stop in the valley. Cheers! read more

Read some reviews prior to deciding on the Ciderhouse while in Winthrop for the weekend. The service was friendly and quick. The food was substandard at best. We both ordered hamburgers with fries. The food came very fast but was somehow burnt to a crispy little ball hidden inside the hamburger bun. Having had a long day and needing to eat something we ate it all and then agreed it was one of the most pathetic hamburgers or meals we'd had in a long time. I know reviews are generally good for this place so we must have caught them on a very bad night but we'd sure never recommend this place based on our experience. read more

JP & his family are running a phenomenal set up here in Winthrop. Fabulous service. Clean facilities. Live music. Fantastic food. An absolutely astounding array of hot sauce, mustard AND homemade cider!! This is a family run business done right. It is so welcoming - if you are gluten free or vegan the rice is very good!! We are looking forward to coming back to this family style warm and welcoming environment!! We came with a car club tour, on a Saturday evening, probably 30 cars and 50 or 60 people. They had the entire layout organized with a line of picnic tables, placarded numbers for each person to order with, tablets to take the orders and keep track of them with, and extra staff too support the greater volume. One person had their heart set on breakfast and they went ahead and made hers only breakfast! I had the chicken Caesar salad and it came in a huge beautiful bowl! The service was good but the food was incredibly overpriced for what we were given. An almost $90 bill for 4 very underwhelming meals and sodas (before tip). We weren't given an itemized bill, just shown the total on their payment device. We were there with our hockey team and I have a feeling they charged a service charge and didn't want us to see. First I would like to say that I don't usually take the time to write reviews. This time we had such a good experience I have to compliment the owners. My wife and I stopped in for a late lunch on a Sunday afternoon. We hit it just right. In between the lunch and dinner crowd. I have been by here several times in the past and the parking lot is usually full. We weren't overly hungry so we split the baby back rib plate. It came with 2 sides with a choice between 4 offerings. French fries, cole slaw, black beans and mac and cheese. We chose the fries and cole slaw. The plate came with 5 ribs. They weren't overly large but plenty for a couple of seniors. We received our meal quickly and everything was fresh and hot. The ribs were seasoned just right with a little spice and came with a small container of homeade barbecue sauce which was excellent. If you need more sauce they are happy to add more for you. The ribs were tender and juicy. Yum. The fries were some of the better ones I have had in awhile. Crispy on the outside and tender inside. Cooked perfectly. I am a fry snob. I do like my fries. The cole slaw was just ok. The owners were very attentive throughout the whole meal seeing to our every need. When it came time to leave we were asked if we could stay a little longer because they wanted us to have a complimentary desert. Out came a plate with a large mound of vanilla ice cream in the middle surrounded by 4 fresh hot churros and a dolop of whip cream. A yummy chocolate sauce was drizzled around the plate. Delicious! One more thing. They have a nice list of ciders that I am anxious to try. Other reviewers gave the ciders a thumbs up. read more
