Within the past 6 months have been told by 2 different health care providers that what they were recommending could be bought on Amazon. I asked: what about Sheridan Surgical? they didn't know. This company is so much better than amazon! for starters, it's a local business, keeping local people employed and the money stays local. The employees are all well-trained so they know their stock (which is amazing in its variety), and take the time to help you with your particular issue. In one instance, their price was less than it was on amazon and i walked out the door with what I needed without having to wait for a delivery. I ddnt bother checking amazon for the other item. As we wanted to tour Frank Lloyd Wright's Martin House, which would involve me doing some walking, we stopped by Sheridan Surgical to purchase a handicapped walker. As we had phoned in advance, they knew exactly who we were when we arrived and gave us a warm greeting upon entry. I was really impressed with the place. Their good inventory covered everything. They showed me the walker I wanted, and I was stunned. The price is only $79.00. I had looked at the exact same walker at a medical supply outlet in Fort Lauderdale and it was priced at $129.00. I know things tend to be more costly in Fort Lauderdale than in the Buffalo area, but this big difference was ridiculous. I called and made an appointment with them and they fit my client in their schedule that was conducive to her needs as well as mine. Even though it's standard for 4 hour windows of time for most businesses, I can understand that some diagnostic issues can cause time delays... When they did arrive, I had the most professional and polite as well as knowledgeable gentleman- his name was Dean - show up and within 45 minutes he had diagnosed, and fixed the issues with the wheelchair. At $38 pair you can afford to buy another pair to for another closed shoe you often wear. Sure beats "custom" orthotics that easily run over $1000 elsewhere. Try these first before going that expensive route. Great, friendly, customer service. Alex helped me find the size I needed. I'm 31 weeks pregnant with my first and experiencing severe feet, ankle and calf swelling. Sarah went above and beyond to work with me to get the (apparently rare) 30-40 thigh high compression socks my dr prescribed. My weird proportions (kid size feet but athletic dancer thighs) made it even harder. Sarah made sure to make me feel better in my fragile puffy state and getting me what I needed including checking with a co worker on the best brand for my size and needs. Nevertheless, I was in need of a mobility scooter and was able to rent one over a few months during the summer at Sheridan Surgical, which has the best prices/deal in WNY. Many places don't like to rent scooters and the ones that do charge exorbitant prices. Well, Tyler was a God-send, he let me drive the scooter around and get a feel of it and fortunately I was able to purchase my own 5 months later with his advice and expertise. I have consistently witnessed the staff being very honest and offering a suggestion to a client recommending a better solution with sensitivity. Paul was excellent to assist us with information, feature and the best recliner for us. Every recommendation was communicated on why we should consider a particular chair with NO pressure. Given all the information, it was totally our decision. After a few weeks, we returned to the store with a concern and immediately Paul assured us they can send service to resolve our concerns. Yes the store can be busy & at times there is a wait BUT the knowledge and expertise of the numerous service lines of products is worth EVERY moment. I'm surprised I'm the first to write a review here, but then I am also surprised to find myself here. I just learned this place exists about 2 months ago, and this was my first actual trip there. So, for starters, I went to this location, but I think there are two of them. Perhaps next time I'll try the other one, seems to be close by this one. But this time this location sufficed. First, coming from Bailey and Main, this is an easy parking lot to pull into, and there does seem to be some parking, although it was pretty busy and one more car and I would not have gotten a spot. Not sure everyone was in Sheridan Surgical, but when I walked in it was indeed pretty busy. I sort of wandered for a moment or two until someone asked if I needed help, which I did, its a large space and not clearly marked. I was looking for a specific thing and the woman knew exactly where it was and gave me two options. I liked that. I will be back to buy the actual item sometime soon, after researching a little to figure out which exactly makes the most sense. I did find something else though, and have already installed it and so far, seems good. I wandered around after making my purchase to see what else they have. Its a big place and they carry all sorts of things I did not even know existed. But, they also carry things I am aware of, like bandages, hydrogen peroxide, icy hot patches etc., which were not the cheapest I have seen. But this is not a drug store, and that's likely why. They have cushions for people who have trouble sitting. They have aids to get out of a car. They have compression items. They have "stand up straight" things for men and women, large and small, tall and short. They have tons of types of walking sticks/canes. Seemed to have a ton of different wheelchair options. Various different foot injury related things from casts to open shoes etc. If you need something for someone who is recovering from an operation or injury, or someone with some mobility issues, this is likely a good place to start looking for supplies to help them. Insurance may cover some things, and I think if you are lucky and have independent health you may get alot covered. But I'd get a prescription from the Dr just to see if you can get some costs covered if you are there for a real medically documented reason. Sheridan Servitude is when you are essentially a house servant along Sheridan. I actually have met a few of them. Luckily this place has nothing to do with that. Last time I was here was about 1 month ago. I've driven my friend here on numerous occasions to pick up scripts, scrubs, you name it. She's a nurse and we car-shared. I've only once picked up anything for myself and the experience was normal. Service was fine. Nothing to shout about. However on other occasions when I was in here with my friend, the service was brisk and brusque and a little snarky. And wait times here can be long. I'll give Sheridan Surgical a 3. My good friend, who I come here for, or drive here, says it's the cheapest and best place to get a lot of stuff when you're a Nurse or Aide. But at the same time, the wait times are often long, the employees are often less than friendly, and the parking lot is one of the most difficult I've been in and out of (so to speak) and I'm pretty talented when it comes to driving. 1st off if you have to go to Sheridan Surgical, go to the store. DO NOT CALL!!!. Very rude customer service whenever I called to check on my approval they were looking into for a script I dropped off 2 1/2 weeks ago. Was told, "I'm not pulling the person off the floor to speak to you because we're busy!" for which I NEVER asked them to do! 2nd when I did leave my number, the person helping me, only called me back once with no results. Finally after 2 1/2 weeks and having to reschedule the Dr. appointment a 2nd time because I was yet to get the special shoe I needed. I called the Dr. office to tell them and they called Sheridan Surgical to find out the status. Within 1/2 hr of having the Dr. call, Sheridan FINALLY called me to say there was nothing they could do!! LOUSY CUSTOMER SERVICE PERIOD!! If you guys are so busy with dealing with customers in the store, hire dedicated phone representatives! Just a suggestion! It only takes a second to call someone back to say you're still looking into it, or there is nothing more you can do! Just don't leave me hanging!! Beware! If you have insurance, insist on using it - no matter how much they pressure you to pay. I am a social worker who assists my caseload in getting durable medical equipment all the time. Sheridan Surgical tries to pull shady stuff with their billing pretty frequently. Billing the client at the same time they're also seeking payment from insurance, hoping you will be naive enough to pay first. Pressuring you to pay up when your insurance takes a little while to submit payment or process their claim. Me and my coworkers have all experienced this with our caseload...we only use Sheridan Surgical if our client is insistent on it. read more

This is the 2nd trip I have made over the years to Sheridan Surgical and I have been very pleased. After 3 orthopedic leg surgeries between the ages of 16-18, I have to wear prescriptive knee braces for working out or other intensive activities. I was happy with my experience about 5 years ago, so I came back today since my old braces were worn out after I called my knee doc for a prescription. Firstly, you can see that Sheridan Surgical has a very extensive in-stock selection of home health care products. They have rows and racks of braces, stockings, socks, lift chairs, scooters, personal care items, and more to help you or a loved one with their needs. No one wants to have to deal with these things, but at least it seems like they make the process easy here. You won't be stuck waiting for an order to come in or only have one brand to choose from. They have a "take a ticket" system by their large counter so they you can get waited on efficiently, but still browse. I only had to wait about 1 minute, and was called. Rich helped me out today and quickly scanned my insurance card, checked the policy for my coverage, and took my prescription. He showed me my original item I had before, but also some slightly higher end/more option braces. The hinged brace he recommended was perfect and much better than my old ones. They will quickly measure you if needed as well as pull out braces to try on. I had dress pants that I could pull up far enough, but he offered that they have a dressing room if needed. He rang me up, double checked my insurance, which I didn't need to wait for an authorization for, and was out of there in under 15 minutes. Super easy process. Very unhappy with this place! Firstly, you have to stand in the aisle, in clear view of the service counter, to get measured. How uncomfortable is that?! I came in to get compression stockings and found that they were the incorrect size. I was told that I had 30 days to return them - they are $95/pair - and, upon returning, I was told that the person who measured me was "usually really good" so it must be a defect in the stocking. (If that's the case, I would not think that both stockings in both pair would fit incorrectly.) So, back to the chair in the middle of the aisle we went to resize. I wasn't comfortable with that in the first go-round, and I wasn't going to do it again, so I left. I've tried multiple times since to reach Ginger, who I've been told is the owner, with no success. I've tried calling and going in to the store in person. I'm really unhappy with the cost, the fit and the service. This was not an inexpensive, but failed, venture. read more

She contently listened to my tale of woe and suggested I get the the next taller size of crutches. She took the first pair back and returned with the taller pair. We had discussed a means by which to protect my foot and what I saw did not seem to be what I had in mind. Then they suggested and showed me a 2 pack of Curad "Cast and Bandage Protector". That has certainly fit what I needed and worked well. It stretched to accommodate the dressing on the wound.
