Do not waste your money at this hotel. Very old. Very basic. Very motel 6 vibes. Not demure. For this to be a Marriott property, I was baffled at the lack of professionalism, cleanliness, and service. And don't even think about emailing the general manager, he will try to throw Marriott points at you that compensate for nothing. As of now, it's been 3 weeks and I still haven't received the additional 10k points for the substandard lodging. read more

Good hotel in the Springfield area. Not a bad drive to the Basketball Hall of Fame or other places. Ask for a renovated room at check in because the older ones aren't very nice. The atmosphere is solid and nice amenities are included such as a big gym and not a bad pool. There are several flaws with the gym and pool though. For starters the gym is nice and big but it feels like they prioritize quantity over quality. All of the machines are very old and not well made but they have almost everything a planet fitness would have. You can definitely get your workout in here but the machines and dumbbells are quite rusty. The gym is said to be 18+ though there is no one enforcing the policy. The pool is a great size for a hotel but it feels like a bathtub! The water is very warm and it doesn't help that the room is super humid. The breakfast restaurant is nice, the buffet is delicious for a hotel but not included. Overall a pretty good hotel and not too expensive. read more

The hotel itself is nice, the beds are comfy (wish they had different pillows - only soft, no medium or firm) but the real issue was "privacy". Whenever I ordered food to be delivered, they would stop the delivery in its tracks and I had to go to the front desk instead. When I questioned why the delivery wasn't being allowed to do the job I paid for, their excuse was that they "value the privacy of the guests". If I valued my privacy, I wouldn't have given out my room number for delivery. I had to just hope no one took my food or mixed up our meals. No microwaves in the room either, which is always a bummer. read more

Sheraton Springfield Monarch Place Hotel - Chipotle door dash and someone else's door dash - Hotels Near Me - Springfield, Massachusetts

Dated. Oh so dated and old school. Dimly lit, cavernous spaces full of conference rooms and hosting several restaurants, where it seems only one is open at a time. Still, the hotel is clean enough though sorely in need of a renovation. And - what's with the elevators? They have like 6 of them, but only seems like one is running at a time. Wait times for the elevator was so ridiculously long, that many patrons (including us) chose the fire stairs instead (and what a lovely climb up and down that was!) Rooms are adequate but the windows are not sound-proofed and with busy I-91 like RIGHT THERE, you hear every traffic swoosh, honk, and screech. Plus the plumbing - while I am glad it works, you will not only hear your own pipes running, but your neighbors' pipes above and beside you. The reception staff, however, are welcoming and polite. We tried one restaurant - Sports Restaurant - for a quick lunch when we arrived: it was okay, burgers were so-so, good fries and salads, and nice service, but nothing to write home about. Breakfast was in the Pick Restaurant, buffet style: a little pricey for the few offerings offered, but it was tasty enough and the cook-to-order omelette station was good. Excellent service staff. Keep the people, but replace the interiors! read more

Honor your word or make it better. Poor customer service. I had specifically requested an accessible room with walkin shower for myself and my elderly mother, and not only was that not honored, but the tub in the room we got was very slippery and she felt unsafe read more

Got there at 4:30, turned room temperature to 65 degrees (the lowest it goes). Five hours later, temp hadn't changed from 72. Engineering came to the room and said there's nothing they can do because the AC is not a wall unit. Offered a fan which I declined. Front desk gave me a new room. AC worked a bit, but not great. Never got down to 65 degrees. The lowest it got was 68 degrees by morning. Sweat my tail off all night. The new room's bathroom was about 10 square feet. If two people were to use the sink/mirror, one person's legs would be touching the side of the toilet. Went to the bar/pub. 3 drinks took 40 minutes to get despite there only being maybe 10 people in the whole place. Had to leave for a bit and when I came back there were no parking spaces in the garage which I paid $20 for. It's way too small. Went to the front desk and they said there's parking across the street that can be validated. I had to go move my car across the street, then go back to the front desk with the ticket so they could give me a QR coded ticket so I could get out the next morning. Not convenient. Finally got to the room and wanted to chill a water since the refrigerator was warm. I figured I'd throw some ice in the ice bucket and chill the water while I showered. Well, the ice bucket is too small to fit a small bottle of water along with ice. No problem, I made an ice bucket out of the recycle bit/laundry bag. Went to the ice machine and of course it wasn't working. I said forget the water because now it's late. I went take a shower and found the shower doesn't drain fast enough. Before rinsing, I had to turn off the shower to drain the 4 -5 inches of water in the tub before rinsing all the soap off. Hardly got any sleep that night because I was hot and angry by this point. So I got up at 5:30 and went to the gym. I found out it only opens at 8:30 AM on weekends. Ludicrous. Worst stay I've ever had at a hotel. Period. read more

We only stayed one night and the room was sort of gloomy so I did not take any pics. Our room was on the 6th floor and even thought I attempted to lower it the room stayed at 72 degrees. I need it colder after being outside in over 90 degree heat. Im sure the hotel must be old so it has to be hard to make any improvements to it. The hotel is good for one or two nights. read more

Hate to pull the card but I will. I spent 64 nights with marriott in 2024 as of October and platinum elite. I read the reviews of this hotel but have NEVER had an issue with any of my Marriott stays so I wasn't worried. Haha. I should have been. Let's start- 1) room was not ready at check in time. Assigned number at 930 am but wasn't ready at 3? Again traveled 64 nights and NOT ONCE have I had a room assigned without it being ready. Not to mention, I had to reach out 3 times and was told they were doing their best and it's not always guaranteed to be ready at check in. Weird, travel a lot and again never heard this! (Atlanta is one of the busiest cities that I spend the majority at time at, and never had an issue). I was offered a diff room quicker that wasn't part of my upgrade as I'm an AMEX bonvour carrier and was APPROVED for an upgrade! Yeah thanks anyway! 2) paid for parking in the garage but had to go get my daughter at six flags to come back with a "garage temporarily full" sign. Wow that's fabulous! Now I'm in a parking lot that doesn't get monitored or part of Sheraton! You actually disclose this on your website that it is not secured, but yet I just paid for your parking and I'm in the unmonitored lot!! 3) didn't get my so beloved welcome points offered, well cause I'm sure they were annoyed with me about check in! 4) the M Club isn't open on weekends. That's fine, I really don't go and don't care. BUT for everyone else booking, they will 100% let you book a room with M club access and it's not actually open on the weekends. You will get a food voucher for 1 person who reserved the room! You have to really read the fine print at this hotel. I won't complain about amenities or appearance of rooms/ renovation status as I didn't have an issue. But overall, I've never had a stay like this and again, 64 nights and counting this year (this isn't my first year with this status). Sheraton, you can defend in the comments all you want, but people who have experience with travel and Marriott, know this is not acceptable or the norm! People, believe the reviews and go somewhere else! I only changed here for the indoor pool but in hindsight wish I stayed at the MGM. read more

I stayed here (Room 518) for a business trip. A person said he saw the place was updated, but I presume he was talking about the lobby and such. The room is in desperate need of an update. Let me start off by saying the room appeared clean. The staff was very friendly. The room itself wasn't in great condition. The wall socket was coming out of the wall and the vent was beat up. The bathroom is where the big problem was. There is no vent to exhaust the steam from a shower, which is why there was some mold in the shower. Also, there was a moisture on the bathroom ceiling. I had barely started my shower when I had standing water in the shower. After only a few minutes, it was up to my ankles. Not what you want to happen. Overall, the place was fine. It needs an update, but that is not on the staff. I might stay there again without renovation. I would probably pick another hotel if not. read more

Pros: bed are comfy and there's a Starbucks nearby Cons: long waits for elevators, common spaces like elevators are dirty, shower is cramped, lighting in hotel room is terrible and makes it hard to work from the room, hotel staff is a little challenging, had to have 3-4 attempts to get working keys which was a hassle, the gym is absolutely atrocious. They have half the machines labeled as off for social distancing when in reality they're just broken because all the working machines are right next to each other touching. Multiple times I've gone down and not been able to actually use the gym. There's no real food nearby which is more a Springfield issue than the Sheraton I suppose. After a very long day of flying into Boston, and then taking the train into Springfield, and then a long wait for an uber... Our experience at the Sheraton was underwhelming to say the least. 30 to 45 minutes at check-in. Every hockey parent and their child running amuck and only one desk clerk checking everyone in. We slowly make our way to the front, and another clerk joins the first one who is quickly dissolving in the quicksand. I casually overhear that the hockey community is staying on the 5th floor. I request any floor besides 5. They put us on the club level floor (in which we have access to the VIP club room that provides light snacks and continental breakfast items with a nice view and tvs). Entering a cold hotel room (we immediately put on the heat), turn on the television which looks a lot like it does outside (snow). Also, the toilet doesn't flush properly. What a way to MAKE an entrance. Shall I try to plug in my charger into the electrical outlet fire hazard coming out of the wall? No thanks. We call downstairs to let the office know what we are dealing with. They offer us some complimentary snacks. Sorry to say, but the Pepsi and chips aren't going to make up for the hotel pit. We left to attend my high school reunion, and when we had gotten back and entered the room, it was ice cold again. We phoned downstairs, and they offered to switch our rooms. At 1:30AM??? Um, no. The elevators seem to be an issue, and some children had gotten stuck in one of them for an extended period of time, as you could clearly hear throughout the hallways. In the morning, we head to the VIP club around 9:45 to have breakfast before checking out. The attendant working the club had a pisspoor attitude like we were doing her a disservice by being there. They were out of spoons...so I'm eating cereal with a fork, the coffee dispenser was about empty, and she said she wasn't replacing anything and that they also are out of condiments. My boyfriend, after opening some drawers, finds more food and condiments hidden away. She was washing dishes in the sink with no soap. I'm about to throw up watching this all happen. This is just unsanitary, and coming from a kitchen background I am speechless. Someone needs to fix this. Stat! Who is running this show anyway?? read more

We stayed here during a bit of an emergency. I didn't book the hotel until after midnight, and by mistake, I booked for the following night. I realized right away, but I was sure they would charge me for it. I called prepared to show off my status (not that I have "earned" it this year), but they very happily changed it for us - thank you! We got to the hotel around 1:30 am and were gone by the next morning, but the hotel felt utterly empty. Upon arrival, we needed a lot, including a toothbrush, paste, and wine! They took care of everything for us and were so lovely and understanding. The hotel itself is a bit dated and could use an update, but it was clean and allowed us to sleep for a few hours while in Springfield. Parking is in an underground garage, connected to the hotel. It was super safe and easy to bring things back and forth from the car. Parking is also included in your room rate, so you are free to come and go as you please. What we loved? The breakfast! Wow, how delicious. I enjoyed the omelet, while my friends had the "full" breakfast with eggs, bacon, pancakes, etc. We all raved about how good the food was. The only negative was that it was a Sunday, and they can't serve liquor until noon! I'm sure this hotel has so much more to offer, but we didn't get to explore due to our limited time there. read more

So the entire ride to Massachusetts we had warnings about the snow that was to come we were prepared because we knew. You'd think the hotel would do the same. Checked into the hotel, as one of our guest a LIFETIME PLATINUM ELITE we were able to enjoy a few perks like free parking and the club lounge. Now night 1 was okay, the club lounge evening food was just okay, not great and the worker looked extremely over worked but none the less it served it's purpose. The room was nice nothing outstanding but nice and was said to be a renovated room. (Room 1005) Night 2 is where the issues started. First they closed/ stopped the food service for the evening in the lounge because of the weather. That's a first, I know they have room service so didn't make much sense but fine.... Then we go to the sports bar where literally 3 things from the menu are available of everything that listed on the menu. Strike 2 my mother has dietary restraints and it was just sad what options we were left with. Not only that THEY CLOSED EARLY and even tried to say they wouldn't make our orders after they were placed. Big chunk of our group stayed I left. I say fine go up to order room service and what do you know CLOSING EARLY ALSO. you'd think the hotel would properly staff a hotel but apparently wasn't on their to do list. The icing on the cake was a part of our group was in room 922 (my boyfriend) he woke up to intense itching and what do you know BED BUGS!!!!! And when he went to the front desk they literally didn't even attempt to go to the room & check it out or even switch his room. At 4am he hit the road to go home & I followed suit. This hotel was the absolute worse and the staff was ridiculously unconcerned with customer service! They sit on their phone at the front desk and barley give u the time of day when u walk up. The best part of the trip was the shuttle to the MGM. I can't image why anyone would stay at this hotel unless you had no alternative. ** And please note that because the front desk refused to even make an effort to address the bed bugs they're likely still in the room. Someone needs to contact me I always stay Marriott and this by far was my worse experience! I get that weather is something you can't control however the forecast said the same thing the entire week. To close every single food option early and not even offer a quarter of the menu it was a joke. Save yourself save your time and save your money! At the end of the day, a hotel is basically some place where you put your head down. It's a shelter for you so that you can rest easy and be ready for whatever the next day has in store for you. Whether its business or pleasure, at the end of each and every day, your hotel room is where you ultimately end up. It might not be the best location as far as doing things in town. Although I've managed to enjoy it during the summer time because it's close proximity to the river. Which means there are great running trails before and after the bridge. Fall is beautiful as well, specially if you cross the bridge and do the trails there. The hotel itself if pretty nice. The lobby is nicely decorated, the staff is very accommodating and cheery. The rooms are clean, beds are comfy and the bathrooms are sanitary. No complaints whatsoever. As long as my heat works, my toilet flushes and my netflix keep going, I am a happy camper. I have been staying at this hotel since 2011. This time will be my last. It started with my check in. Front desk girl was very unpleasant. They have the MVP sports bar in the hotel. The bartenders are awesome and have been serving me since 2011. The chef on the other hand is out of hand. I stay for 2 weeks due to work here. I eat 5 out of 7 days at the MVP. Yesterday was my last, the chef decides when he is closing with no warning even though the hours are posted. I spend a lot of money at that bar and expect to not have to leave the hotel to eat because the chef decides he did enough for the day. The bartenders are afraid to confront him because he screams at them. The standards of the Marriot corporation are definitely lacking at this property. read more

Wow this hotel was disappointing, and I see that I am not alone in this opinion. To begin: downtown Springfield streets are weird and this place was hard to get to; parking garage was confusing, cramped, and had an odd layout; elevators were slow; room temperature control didn't work (stayed at 72 regardless of any manual settings); TV had bad remote lag and few channels; no microwave; room safe had no power. The good: short walk from MGM casino; staff was friendly; complimentary bottled water; the shower was strong. There are other options nearby and I would only stay here again if it was the lowest-price available. read more

This hotel is quiet due to less people traveling due to COVID restrictions. Check in was quick, and the room was clean. It is dated and definitely shows it's age and could use a refresh. I'm sure in these times that's not really an option, so I understand. The air conditioner in the room was definitely lacking and even when selected to high was barely able to keep the room cool even for a cool late October stay. The tv channel selection is also pretty limited. read more

A hotel like this holds higher expectations, and while many of the core accommodations tick the check mark, far too many of the details are overlooked. For example, the room service menu is not posted online. There are no hard copies in the room either. It is not provided during check in. The only way to get the room service menu is by going down to the reception and asking for it when you need it. It really would not take too much effort to post the menu online or offer a copy of it during check in. It would demonstrate great hospitality to anticipate guests needs. We used the pool on the first day and it was a good size. The water was a bit cold but ideal if you are looking to swim laps. The only problem we encountered is that there were NO TOWELS. We were staying on the twelve floor and the pool was at the end of a long hallway on the 4th floor. Not a big deal overall. However, my kid was so eager to get into the pool she has already jumps in. I had to use the phone in the empty reception area and by luck I guessed that hitting "0" would get me the front desk and it did. I asked for towels to be brought to the pool area which to their credit they did - 45 minutes later.... But guess what happened when those towels ran out? We found out that guests without towels obviously leave huge water puddles in the elevators. The floor was soaked. What a shame! Such a nice looking hotel and you can't wear sandals in the elevator because you might step into a puddle because the hotel service forgets to provide towels for the folks using the pool. Again, On the plus size, the beds were comfortable and the rooms were clean -- but that is to be expected! If you are staying on the Club Level, they have free coffee and snacks. No service in the lounge but we were warned about it during checkin. The TV was not working but after playing with the inputs and settings for 5 minutes I was able to figure it out. Here is my advice to management: - set up a checklist of all the public areas your guests are going to be hanging around and have a person doing rounds all day making sure there are towels at the pool, checking in on the people in the Club Lounge (we were there for 3 hours and did not see 1 guest employee peek in). - by ensuring there are towels in the pool area, the puddles in the elevator will not appear and you will avoid calls there. Good luck! I know it's running a hotel can't be easy but paying attention to the details is key to ensuring your guests are fully satisfied. read more

Tired filthy run down environment with poorly trained staff that try to induce hidden fees to make up for lack of clientele and absolutely no services. Certainly a place that needs to be debranded and shut down not suitable for even a nights stay as I found out after burning my arm with the hot or scolding hot water that simply would not cool down at any of the three broken down room taps not even being able to take a shower, which was "my problem" as I was later told by Jon when I inquired about an update in front of other hotel guests and staff. A welcoming pet policy which online stated we welcome pets under 40lbs one per room led to nastiness and my room key being deactivated simply because house keeping who did not want to provide daily service went out of their way to maybe find something my pet left behind while we were all out of the room and I had requested service, after leaving my filthy sheets in the hall. Instead of addressing the water issue Jon the extremely poorly trained front desk manager called me over by saying "hey you we need to talk; my house keeping found pet droppings in your room and you didn't sign the waiver". After storming off and advising my key had been deactivated and stating it would not be turned on until we had resolve, I was advised I was going to be charged, $250?! Well needless to say I happily left the property three nights early and will certainly never return wishing them well and look forward to what ever will replace the no frills establishment with well trained staff and upgraded rooms as other nearby hotels offer: stay away this is not a place anyone ever wants to be. read more

No, thank you. There are so many better places to stay and with better pricing. Being loyal Marriott people, my husband decided to try this Sheraton as they are part of the "family" now, Well, they should be disinherited. It's quite obvious this hotel is a shadow of it's former glory days and is in desperate need of a remodel. Remember those "success" posters from the 1980s? You'll be treated to one of those still on the wall on your walk to the pool! I wish this trip hadn't been a surprise as I'm the one who researches before trips. I'm now learning that some of the complaints from 8 YEARS AGO on this very forum are the same complaints I have, so you cannot blame it on the pandemic. I'm not sure there are any maintenance or security personnel on the property. The electrical wiring in our room, both coming out of the lamps and walls was exposed wires. The door handle inside the bathroom broke off in my hand, as did the sink plunger. The people staying in the room next to us had a dog that barked the entire time they were out of their room, which was hours. The walls are thin and there is nothing the hotel would do about the situation. The "restaurant" on Sunday does now serve anything to order, only a "breakfast buffet" consisting of fake scrambled eggs, another egg white (maybe?) and spinach, mushroom veggie thing that we, having owned food establishments, literally could not figure out how it scientifically could be made to look like it had white air pockets, ice cold potatoes, passable bacon and salty sausage, breads and bagels, yogurt, cereals and some fruit. The Danish pastry I chose was clearly thawed from the freezer and so freezer burned that I spit it out into my napkin. Completely overpriced and with the strongest coffee that 4 creams could not lighten. We were granted a late checked out and because we were still hungry from our miserable breakfast, we chose to walk to a nearby place for lunch. When leaving, there were several cars parked right under the "NO PARKING" signs with a large group of young adults gathered just outside the main entrance, openly smoking marijuana and listening to loud music. I assumed they were loading up and heading out. Over two hours later when we returned, they were still there doing the same thing. The entire front of the hotel smelled and sounded like a Snoop Dogg concert, not a Sheraton Hotel. Absolutely classless. WHERE IS THE SECURITY? WHERE IS THE MANAGEMENT OF THIS HOTEL? WHERE IS THE PRIDE? Other than one housekeeper, two front desk clerks and 4 restaurant workers, I saw NO employees working anywhere else, not around the pool, security, maintenance, etc. FRIGHTENING. UNSAFE. UNACCEPTABLE. While those who were working were wonderful, I would never stay here again and I suggest you don't either. read more

Good location but needs some work. Parking is confusing at best, and I hate when hotels charging more than $200 a night charge for parking. Just build it into the price. The concierge lounge for platinum members was absolutely horrible. The evening that I arrived they had run out of everything and the staff member disappeared an hour and a half before close. If you're unlucky enough to be on a business trip in Springfield, the Sheraton is probably one of your standby hotel choices. This particular Sheraton was home to the least appealing Starwood room I've found in recent years... threadbare and a little smelly on top of the already-blah Sheraton design standard. Granted, I was a little bitter to be in Springfield and alone, and I can't fairly compare it to any of the other hotels in town.
