Good food but they charged an automatic gratitude (service fee) cause of covid or something along those lines. & then the server took it upon himself to tip himself an extra $25 on top of that fee. I already left the "kind server" a cash tip on top of the automatic tip (which was high already), so make sure you check your totals when you leave the place. read more

This is a pretty chill bar overlooking the long beach waters. The food and drinks are a little on a pricier side. The burgers were pretty solid. The server was very friendly which made up for a very slow service. They have a couple of pool tables inside too, probably get charged a small fee though. I got the diablo burger with sauteed mushrooms and it was satisfying. Total bill: 2 burgers + 2 beers for $30. They obviously have a bunch of Irish beer on tap. read more

My partner and I look very young... with that being said, we get carded almost all of the time. We walked by this place but stopped and decided to go in for drinks. But we heard a voice say, "I.D.'s please." There was a guy all in disguise to the left - hat on, sitting low, in the dark, and next to other random people. Whatever. He checked them and as we walked in through the patio a couple said, "he didn't check our I.D." We sat at the bar that had plenty of room, not many people were sitting at the bar. There were two bar tenders who walked back and forth, cleaned some things up, talked to some customers... but neither one approached us to ask if we'd like anything. In a crowded bar, I would expect to have to push my way to the counter, hold out my hand, fight for a turn to order... but this was not the case. So my partner ends up saying as polite as she could to the guy that stood in front of us cleaning glasses, "what does it take to get a drink around here?" I guess he didn't want to serve us so he turned to someone else behind the counter to take our order. It was a different lady that had just came from the floor area. She was very polite and helpful and while she got our drinks the other lady that blatantly ignored us the whole time decided to come over and ask if we wanted anything. Well. Smh We got our drinks, closed the tab, and found an empty table nearby where we received a lot of attention from the same lady who ignored us earlier and a few other staff members. Your usual Irish bar at the docks. You can tell the regulars, and the strangers very easily. Service was a bit slow, but not because they were packed, they were pretty empty. I sat a few feet from the bar, so I was able to motor over to the bar and get a refill. No PBR so this is a 1 star rating, BUTT the Bartender had a booty that you could bounce a half dollar off of. This place has a great vibe. We are from out of town and we have been here before and it's always consistently good. The price is a little over priced, ordered the fish and chips and it was $15 plus tip and was a average. The service was a bit short, seemed like they wanted us some what in and out. But it's a pub so honestly it's a cool feel that's right on the water so pretty decent. We will more than likely come back just because it's not as crowded with most of the restaurants around here. The first time we came back after dine in opened back up there were not many people there and it seemed like social distancing was being followed. The next time we came back it was so packed we barely had room to stand. And now recently found out they had an employee test positive for COVID. With consideration for the current situation of COVID-19, I still believe this place can do much better. Firstly, they need to train their hosts to remind patrons, that are waiting to be seated, to keep a social distance in line. Furthermore, the hosts need to have a more presentable attire. Secondly, the afternoon to evening shift should prepare the patio, for dinner, by having the propane patio heaters lit before patrons are seated. Thirdly the waiter wasn't very attentive and seemed agitated when asked for condiments or anything that was extra. Perhaps a floating host to follow up with patrons. Overall, my first visit to this establishment wasn't delightful. I certainly hope that if I return I find myself in a better situation than that of which I experienced. read more

I'm on a mission to try out more local places in Long Beach since I moved here nearly 3 years ago. The place is in a nice spot as part of the Shoreline Village complex. I don't think any other bar could have a better view of the water. You can hang outside or inside. There is a bar inside to where I went to enjoy whatever game they had on (MLB All Star game). At first it was a little hard to get an order through. They seemed understaffed to handle the pretty large crowd they had (For a Tuesday night). I eventually was able to get an order through. I kept it simple with rum and coke and also a cheese steak sandwich. It didn't take long to get the order once placed. I ordered a soft drink afterwards and was able to get refills from different bartenders. The sandwich itself was OK. Nothing bad nor special about it. The garlic fries were good. You can sit facing the bar and see the boats to your right. Or a table anywhere that gets the breeze as it passes thru. Good vibe, never seems dead even when it's not a busy time of day. We were a group of four, stopping by for a few drinks and the football game. The service was friendly...at first. There was a live band and we were chatting with people at tables around us, buying a round for the band, dancing a bit, enjoying the evening. Then our server brought us our bill without us even asking for it. $500. A bit much for four pitchers of beer, three Long Islands, and six Irish Car Bombs (for the band) but that wasn't what bothered us. It was more of a surprise when we were told we were officially cut off and had to leave. I can understand if we were belligerent or starting trouble but she said it was because they will lose their liquor license if they serve drunk people. Um, this is a bar, right? Maybe they should change their name because "shenanigans" seems like it would be fun. We've never been asked to leave anywhere before, so to say we were shocked is an understatement. Just came here for the second time. The first time we came it was excellent. We are the only people and the food came out fast and Kingston was super nice. This time it took 35 minutes to get our food bc they sent one cook home on a Saturday. When my sons food came out the chicken nuggets were burnt to a crisp. As I was finishing this review, the host just kicked a Latino family from the tables outside there restaurant bc she said the tables were for there restaurant. Stopped in for lunch. Not a glamorous place but still pretty nice atmosphere to hang with a friend and eat really good food. Service was very good, happy to help with menu suggestions. I had the corned beef burger with very fresh side salad. The 4" wide chunk of corned beef was solid and lean and over 2" high. I broke it apart and made two open face sandwiches because there was no way I could bite something that tall. Delicious! I can't eat rich food like that very often but it was really good. The Food was good. The Wait time was a tad long but nothing tedious. It was on a busy Sunday. Asking people to keep their masks on until the drinks are on the table was ridiculous. They even had a 8 feet social distance guideline on a sign. However, that was definitely not happening with people. Drinks are brought within a very short time anyway also. This mask thing is out of hand. If you are that afraid of Covid, then maybe it shouldn't be open? It's an 18% auto gratuity for groups of 6 or more. That is indicated on the menu. Just a FYI. Stopped here on April 13, 2018 Long Beach Grand Prix was going on. The only reason we tried this place was because our usual spot closed. I've been coming to the Grand Prix for 28 years & have seen this place many times. First thing we needed to get was a pitcher of beer which I ordered & the selection was fairly good on craft beer. I bought a Karl Strauss red trolley pitcher for $32.50 ( it poured 4 16 oz cups) which makes each pour about $8 12 ish a cup. I guess I can't complain because the beers on the track during race day are $12 for Modelo. We hung in there for another pitcher but my son was getting hungry & we had a menu handed to us. It was a lunch "special" menu but there was NOTHING special about it. My son is 15 & can venture outside of chicken tenders so he saw the shepherds pie & ordered it. I figured since it was priced at $14 he'd get a pretty good portion.... WRONG! Not only was the pie dinky in size it was the poorest excuse for shepherds pie I've seen an "Irish" pub serve. Big tip for your cooking staff PRESENTATION IS EVERYTHING. People eat with their eyes & the minute I saw this excuse for what I thought we ordered it immediately disappointed. Then once my son takes his first fork full I see how poorly it's constructed. The filling looked like & tasted like it came from a can. It also came in a plastic bowl! Took them 30 minutes to seat us on a slow day, and another 30 minutes before we saw a waitress. We eventually left due to lack of service.

Visited this establishment few days ago. Being honest, never going back again. Took over 45 mins for food to arrive, ridiculous. Then my food was warm, not hot. So if my food took that long I'd expect it to be hot. But in this case it was probably sitting out for god knows how long. Waitress (service) was horrible. Never came by to ask how the food was except as she brought the check.....yeah why bother asking asking at this point. Now the $13 Buffalo chicken was utter garbage. I think they took a chicken breast and sliced that up like 3 or 4x. (Very thin) Loaded it up with bread crumbs and served it. Overcooked and dry as well. (Image attached) Next time I think I'll just opt to goto POPEYES and get one of their chicken sandwiches. Guarantee it will be 1000% better tasting, and yeah HOT. And the other dish which my guest ordered was Shepards Pie, bleh. It was mediocre. Money spent here was a waste, and totally unsatisfying. It'd your hungry go elsewhere.
