We had a great experience at Shenanigans 10/13/2023! We've been there numerous times before, but last nights visit stood out. We used the yelp check in feature to join the waitlist thinking this would reserve a table. We got to the restaurant checked in and the host said it would be a few minutes. We waited unfortunately nearly 40 minutes (this was after we had checked in with yelp 20 minutes prior). Long story short, we had plans that evening to see a show at the planetarium and our dinner would probably had just been appetizers if it weren't for the incredible staff! Our server (can't remember her name) was SO kind and expedited our food and drinks. The GM, Tony went above and beyond and personally looked into the issue and really took the time to help us. The food of course was excellent, but the service was exceptional! We really were taken care in every way. We made the show no problem thanks to their amazing efforts! Best potato home fries ever. I arrived at 5:30. Not too busy. Servers are busy & stretched thin. Drank my toddies on the deck. It's dog friendly and was able to love on the pups there. Sara was my server. Bit skeptical at first b/c she was in a million directions. Let me say that's a sweet, sweet young lady. I'd come back to have her as a server. Went with my family. Food was good. Live music was on - we sat outside as it was more pleasant than the ambiance inside. It was raining on & off. Probably we hit at the right time - we didn't wait. This is a 4.8 star review!! Stopped in on a recommendation while in the area. The wait to be seated was a breezy 10 minutes; not bad for a Friday night in small town America! Chose outside seating which was very clean, not overly noisy, outside tea/soda bar, and ceiling fans. The staff were friendly and attentive. We started with the chip, fries, and rings sampler. Not too greasy and the fries and rings were cooked to perfection; however, the homemade chips were a tad overcooked making them hard and void of flavor. Then came the Fish and Chips (substituted for real chips ...Wife's British) with homemade coleslaw and tartare sauce; and the Gold Miner burger with homemade lager BBQ suace and fries. Overall the food was outstanding with exception of the coleslaw. Me Lady said it was too peppery for her and had a slight bitter (not vinegar) taste. When I think of corned beef and cabbage on St. Patty's I think of 3/8 inch slabs of juicy, tangy, fork-cut, meat lovingly brined then simmering for a few hours with a timely addition of carrots, cabbage and potatoes to insure a fusion of favor while still retaning the integrity of the individual ingredients. Not at Shenanigans March 17 2023. Think leathery, deli-sliced meat that spent so much time under a heat lamp it formed a 1/4 inch dry rind. Think carrots that probably were pretty good, five hours before they were served. Horrible greyish, roots wrinkled and limp and barely distinguishable in flavor from the cabbage-cum-saurer kraut that doubtless does double duty on hot dogs other days of the week. Lastly, the potatoes, the star of the plate. Two of the three were perfectly passable, the third blemished sufficiently to remain untouched. Let's not forget the two plastic mini-tubs of butter that were of invaluable help to the potatoes. One of which had to be pried open with a fork. The first time these various components of my meal spent time together was when they were plated with however many dozens of similar servings Shenanigans shoveled out the kitchen door in the 45 minutes we were there, as per the host who told us we only had 90 minutes to eat because the place was so crowded. I give the place two stars because my wife loved the Shepards Pie which was good. Same for the onion rings. But I spent the past 30 minutes writing this because I'm pissed. Whoever sent that plate out didn't give a rat's ass what it tasted like and in an Irish restaurant on St. Patty's that person should be ashamed. read more

Excellent food, cozy atmosphere, attentive staff. My husband and I stopped in for lunch and sat on the screened in patio. I had a Philly cheesesteak, fries and Irish stew. My husband had a groupen (grouper-Ruben). Everything was tasty! We'll absolutely be back. In fact, we were already planning our next visit before we even left. Skip the peanut butter pie. I am not much of a fan of Irish food, but this place takes Irish food to another level! For starters, their thousand island dressing is made in-house and you MUST order it. I actually ordered the Reuben of the Sea which is a Reuben with blackened fish instead of corn beef. I know it sounds weird but the flavors mixed together make it absolutely delicious! So sad to see what went on at this restaurant today. They were apparently doing some kind of fund raiser outside for local businesses which is great. It was Labor Day so myself and some friends (and probably quite a few other people) came in from out of town off the rivers and things (kayaking and hiking, etc.) to visit this cute town. We have stopped at this restaurant a few times. It was busy outside so we were seated inside. When we sat we thought the service would be awesome. Three different wait staff asked us what we were drinking and we informed them we ordered from the first one who stopped at our table. Turns out it wasn't impeccable service, it was confusion on the part of the wait staff and later it became evident that no one was focused on the floor. They were all focused on what was going on outside. When we ordered drinks we saw the bartender make them and sit them on the bar for pickup.. and there they sat.. for ten minutes, getting sweaty. No one made it back to the table for quite a while so finally I asked some staff standing close by if I could get our drinks myself and I did. Finally we placed our food order and the same thing happened. The cooks were on point, they were hustling and getting what looked like really good food out for delivery. There were two shelves where the cooks put the dishes for pick up, and we were sitting right in front of them. I noticed they didn't have any heat lamps on the line. Our food sat there over 15 minutes getting cold, and as the food sat, the cooks were piling up more and more orders and no one came to pick it up. At one point I asked a waitress if someone was coming to bring our food and she said they were outside for an announcement. Eventually the cooks all walked out and went outside, and there were no less than 14 prepared dishes stacked up getting cold. There was no wait staff anywhere to be found, because they were all outside. I get if they stepped out 5 minutes for a big announcement or something, but this went on so long that people were furious. Two separate tables who were looking at their food get cold got up and left. Another couple we spoke to finally went to the pick up window and got their own food and sat down and ate it. They got their own condiments from the waitress station and anything else they needed as did we. Then later, when no one brought them a check, they just left. Another couple who had been waiting for their check the whole time got up and walked out not even paying for their meal. Then another. Customers were talking to each other and getting more and more frustrated. Once we ate (at least we got our food!) we waited and waited to get our check or another drink with no service at all. Only angry, left-behind customers (and the place was packed) were remaining in the dining room. Finally we actually called the restaurant on the phone, from INSIDE the restaurant, and told the waitress who answered the phone that we wanted to leave, and that no one had attended us or would bring us a check, and asked if she could get our check to us. She was standing right behind our table, so we could all hear her speaking. She barked that there was an event and they were busy then hung up. Then she walked past us, up a flight of steps then right back down, then she went outside, leaving us to sit longer. We waited about ten more minutes and left. Bad experience read more

WORST experience I have ever had at a restaurant. Quoted 1 hour wait for a table. Multiple larger parties sat before us that arrived after us. After 2 hours of waiting we were finally sat. We loved this little gem. It has a great Bloody Mary and a wonderful beer list. We had an appetizer of the Irish stew and it was delicious. I had the shepherds pie, WOW amazing! So service was very slow - food was sub par. We were very disappointed after waiting about an hour for our food. We requested an inside table and they stuck us on a deck with a fan...yeah that is about the same. Sent the food back because it was so mediocre- they gave us complimentary dessert to compensate....it was frozen - nothing special. No way to make up for such a unacceptable meal. Always looking for a great Shepard's pie and was successful at this place. Full of gravy, veges, and beef covered with creamy potatoes and lots of cheese. Very rich flavor. This was another place in Georgia where they put dollar bills all over the ceiling. Most people wrote their hometown on the dollar. Fun to read. Service was friendly and efficient. Waited a very long time which is understandable due to covid but when asking staff for simple favors it seemed they were all on drugs. Food was not up to quality. My husbands food was very burnt and didn't seem fresh. Our only bright spot was our server Tom who tried helping anyway he could. It's comparable to the surrounding area which tout the ole historic type buildings and neighborly environment but once inside you know you're inside a family children friendly restaurant. Menu was good with typical customer loving foods and staff while we were there were exceptionally pleasant and courteous and professional. Staff periodically walk through and ask if all was ok and how were things and it was raining the night we were there and they were busy but we weren't rushed out so they could use our table but we felt guilty about prolonging our visit so we made dash for it. Horrible experience here. The food was not great and the customer service was even worse. The host made a mistake and apologized for it but The owner and GM were extremely rude and would not allow me to even speak and address my concerns with them , they just made me leave. And said they made no mistake (even after the host admitted and apologized for it) . The owner Deb told us to never come back (not that we want to) like WE were the problem when their staff member was the one that made the mistake and even apologized for it. the poor host that made the mistake was so terrified of his bosses and just kept saying "I'm so sorry ma'am" at how the manager was treating me and my party. Had high hopes...and was totally disappointed! The wait time was fine the seating was tight but okay. We ordered quickly. 2 cups of soup, potato patties and a burger. We added another cup of soup and was told that would come out as an appetizer-okay? Didn't ask for it that way but fine. Then it went STRAIGHT DOWNHILL from there. We watched one of the cups of soups that was ordered as an entree sit in the window for over 7 minutes and the expediter touch it multiple time and stir the soup!! Then they brought it to the table - NO! We told her we've timed that soup and watched you touch it multiple times. That's unacceptable! She has the audacity to ask if we wanted another cup! So fast forward the Medium burger arrived Rare. The potatoes cold, the cheese solid and inedible and sent back. The server came over to tell us they were taking the cup of soup off and then they "got us" a 30% discount in the burger. The lack of care and the lack of managerial overseeing was just SAD! Being a college town they will always be busy but they need a hard look at their food and business- we are new to the area and we will never be back nor will we suggest this place. read more

My husband and I came here for lunch before we browsed the shops in downtown Dahlonega. It was Saturday and very busy but we still received top-notch service! Our server Katie was very prompt and friendly despite the busy lunch rush! My husband got the Gold Miner burger and I got the fish&chips and the Dublin Stew. Both were extremely delicious, cooked perfectly and not too greasy. The stew was deliciously light and not too salty. The house made chips were amazing! And on top of that, there was karaoke on the patio! Highly recommend if you're looking for a quick bite before looking around! So good and so friendly. read more
