Super busy on a Friday night, but I managed to order a beer - an APA called "Misguided" - and snag a corner of a table. The beer was great and the wifi worked well but the lack of a power outlet meant that I would only stay here for a bit before heading onwards. Came here for a joint venture they had with Balance Barre and Fitness on a Sunday morning. This is very close to the water and part of it has an open air feel. I absolutely love it! Our yoga experience came with a free drink so we had the watermelon frose. Delicious! The Korean beef bulgogi tacos are excellent! The fried chicken sliders are also wonderful. I feel like with whatever you order you can't go wrong. Everyone I have spoken to absolutely loves coming here. The staff is friendly and the service is excellent. Our food came out in a timely fashion as well. They have ample parking on two different sides. They are located fairly close to another restaurant, Fishcamp. I highly recommend Shellring! I do really like their beer. And the setting on the waterfront makes it easy to sip a cool draft and relax. Decent beer selection including one of my favorite IPA's. People are friendly, parking can be difficult if there are events or overflow from Fishcamp restaurant next door. So why only 4 stars? No AC and it gets hot as Hades here in the summer. Overhead fans don't help at all. And they are NOT dog friendly. Big drawback. So I mostly drink my Shellring brews on tap locally, not at the brewery. read more

Attended a community event on a Friday night and thoroughly enjoyed the venue. Service is friendly and welcoming. Great outdoor ambiance with live music, fire pits, outdoor seating overlooking the river plus an outdoor bar (also offer indoor seating). Food was catered and everything was delicious our favorite was the BBQ Mac-n-Cheese and the Chicken Rice bowl. They offer a good assortment of beers to satisfy many palates. My favorite was the Lola. The lady behind the counter must be related to the owner to feel that entitled to treat customers like pests. Every time we come here and she takes our order it is always so uncomfortable. I promise you Shellring you'd have better reviews if you removed her from working directly with customers. In addition to this awful lady, the no-see-ums outside are insane so be prepared with bug spray, mosquito repellent candles, and a portable fan to keep them away. It's so unfortunate to leave this review because it's the best location in Beaufort for a drink and a sunset. read more

An update from our last visit....this time I placed the order for our small group.....Unfortunately, the slow service, apparently adopted by all low country establishments, was disappointing. Our food order on this visit was meh. The $9 Bavarian pretzel was a total rip off. It was bland, so unpretzel like in its flavor and the accompanying cheese sauce broke and was gritty. C'mon. The kimchi fried rice had potential. It had good heat and lots of sour notes but was screaming out for a sweet component for balance. Although I welcomed the addition of the crispy ham it added nothing to the dish. The sour notes obliterated any other flavors. The biggest drawback to any and all Beaufort County businesses that serve food is the complete lack of consistency of execution. One visit might be five stars but the next meal might just earn one. With such an abundance of wonderful local ingredients, cooks and chefs are spoiled, but surprisingly uninspired to create any truly outstanding dishes. We will visit again for fun, beer and ambiance, but we will make sure to eat before we go. read more

Don't waste your time. Customer service is terrible. We arrived at 8:55pm on a Thursday. Their website says they are open until 10 wed-fri. We walked in, they asked us to leave saying they were closed. When I confronted them about the discrepancy on their website hours, and explained that we drove from far away to patronize the establishment, the sassy girl behind the bar said "too bad, we're closed". I travel quite a bit for work and one of my favorite things to do is visit local breweries. I was in Beaufort for work when Shellring came to my attention. I was excited to learn, when I first arrived, that they had only been open for 3 months! For a brewery open for such a short amount of time, I was impressed. All of the beers I tried were polished. I've been to far too many breweries where there's an odd after taste or all of the beers taste somewhat similar, Shellring does not have this issue. I'm currently drinking their Coosaw Blues and it's perfect on a warm summer afternoon. More importantly, the bartenders are amazing! Kaytlyn and Hope were not only prompt to take my next order, while sitting at the bar, but also, upon learning I was from out of town, went out of their way to recommend their favorite local spots for food, beer, and cocktails! I highly recommend Shellring to any visitors and locals alike, and am already looking forward to my next trip to the Beaufort area! read more
